Back in the day, the only cantonese song my father could sing was "lok gai mo qin mai min bao... zeh looi you pa lo por lao..." (literal translation: walking along the streets no money to buy bread, borrow money also scared wife will scold). It was not until 2003 when 帝女花 played on TV then did I know the true lyrics and story of the song!
(ignore the thai, this was the only decent version i could find)
It's like so sad but my father totally changed the lyrics! Up till then, my sister and I truly thought that the song was sung that way... until we watched TV and found out that the real song is so damn sad!
In the end Steven Ma and Charmaine Sheh married, but they committed suicide by adding poison in their wine so that they'll stay together in their after life.

Ramblings of a photo editor
Monday, June 21, 2010
Hello my old friend I'm sorry I've neglected you for so long.
How's life?
Chatted with the a new editor online last night, got a little irritated. She bought a new camera to accompany her on exchange as she signed up for a photojourn course. She bought a D700 and 24-70.
Nice, I said. You just matched the best set we have, I said.
Full frame camera, eh?
What's full frame, she asked.
So you paid extra few thousand dollars without knowing why, I replied. It's like you bought a Baldwin piano without knowing why it's better than a Yamaha one, I replied.

Today I almost spat blood when I saw Charmaine Sheh as the new face of Wanko... I've never been a fan of that brand cos I think the clothes are damn orbit even for aunties... And then, alas! My new female idol (ok, shouldn't say idol but dunno what other words to use) is the face of Wanko! Oh my tian...
And I'm also quite dumbfounded by the poster la, can someone enlighten me as to why her shoes look like her stockings?!

Totally Random
Thursday, March 18, 2010
Last night I went for my first guitar lesson with a cute guy in school, and when I think back about the spark that made me interested in the guitar I remembered our funny little episode with a very angry Papa Cheng.
The first Studio Days was organised in November of '08 by Quentin with the initial purpose of teaching the juniors on how to use the lights for prom night. The second day was planned for the seniors to have a little bit of fun with our ol' friends Jinbei and Abei. (I wonder if they're still alive...) We came up with some crazy stuff, but we didn't quite manage to experiment with everything we brought to shoot.
There was a combination of milk, food colouring, dolls, glassware, chili padi and tomatoes... So the shoot spilled over to a 3rd day, and we were all running on insanity and delirium. Ok. We weren't on drugs, but we were on a creative high. And so we decided to air band.
We picked up our tripods and umbrellas (the translucent ones that we never used with the lights) and started belting out music. It was both funny and embarrassing, but we had a lot of fun. But. Then. We. Rang. The. Cisco. Alarm.
Lols.
The next day PPC came storming into the club room saying, "I don't know whether to laugh or be angry!"
So anyway, I became more interested in the guitar because I wanted to do air banding right.

Worse Caterer EVER.
Sunday, January 31, 2010
My sister's engagement party was a disaster. The caterer came late by 1.5 hours and some of the guests left hungry because they had other things to attend to.
The rest of us waited around, chatting with other family members, and even the Il Piccolo pizza came promptly on time for the starving people. Oh I love Il Piccolo.
Wait. Yes. The caterer's company is Angeli. Very pissing. They dare to come 1.5 hours late to set up, they even came EARLY to keep the stuff! Tmd! They got a scolding from both my sis and Alvin, and we were all very pissed. Of course, friends made it a lot easier cos they still kept the occasion a happy one.
HAHA the worse of all, was that there was a CNA crew around doing an interview with Alvin and Rachel and wanted to get some shots of the guests mingling with the happy couple. But because both of them were soooo tied up with scolding the caterer, the crew waited around till the food came and for a 3 min clip, they stayed around for 6 hours. Wao.
OKOK that's not the best part. You guys know where my sis and Alvin works right, and who most of their friends are (from which circle) and HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH... This company will DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!
Haha I remember on New Year's Day I went shooting with Kingston... I thought I was the only one who had an aching arm. I was trying to kiap some food onto my plate with my chopsticks but my arms couldn't stop shaking like got Parkingson disease like that.
Kingston boy mah thought he very strong one who knew his arm also wobbling beside mine with his chopsticks in hand... Quite farnie. We wobbled for a few seconds before putting the food in our mouth. Can be quite paiseh also sometimes...
Wobble wobble wobble wobble~

SMA Creative Video Competition
Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Hi guys! Recently my friends and I have joined a video competition hosted by Singapore Media Academy.
We spent endless hours on post-pre-production work, which was pretty hilarious. I don't have production stills of now, but the story line of our video goes like this-
Young Boy comes from a average income family, who has always dreamed to go and take a look at the outside world. As he has no financial means to do so, he does so through reading magazines. One day while browsing, he fell asleep and he went into a dream.
In this dream, he finds that he becomes a magazine cut out, walking through the pages of the magazine he just read. He sees cavemen drawings- the oldest form of communication- then radio, tv star Marilyn Monroe, went on cinema screen and then finds himself being chased by the police in a newspaper article!
This video brings you through different mediums of media across time, using an interesting technique of stop motion.
PSST. What's more is that if you send in an email to SMA predicting who will win the competition, you may have a chance of getting $100 Takashimaya vouchers!

Puffy coat alert!
Thursday, December 24, 2009
Because it's still winter when we're flying to Shantou this coming Feb, I have to go buy winter clothes and stuff. My mom is telling me to buy a trench coat (because I look so smart, why would I want to wear puffy coat right!) but my sister insists that I should buy one of those down puffy coats.
It was then when I was about to retort "NOT LIKE I'M IN CHINAaaaaaaaa.... wad...." ..... "wait.... WE ARE going to China...." -.-
My sister insists that I should go and buy a down, puffy coat. She be the death of my little remaining fashion sense.
