Matt's Birthday... 16 days ago

I can't beilieve I forgot to post something about a very important day in this house.
Matt's birthday!
This year he turned 10!  Big year for a military brat - you get your first offical military ID!

Starwars is still his favorite everything.  He asks me star war questions all the time and acts surprised when I don't know the answer, which is all the time.  He knows way to much about that topic.

For his birthday meal... Ribs.  Matt's favorite meal.  I love that Matt's favorite foods are meats - there is no chance of him becoming a vegetarian.  He's the only boy in the house who opens a bag of tuna for a snack.

Matt has adjusted great this last year.  He is doing well in school despite his inability to focus for any amount of time. Probably because at this school the fourth grade classes share three teachers and the kids change classrooms three times a day.  He will be participating in his first Crossfit competition this weekend and he earned his yellow belt in Tea Kwon Do last month.

Matt we love you very much and are proud of your hard work!

Not just for swimming anymore

Not everybody keeps a pair of goggles in their kitchen utensil drawer, but maybe they should...

Eat, Drink, and be Merry!!

 Meet the Schlicht Family

The mom and dad,  Karen and Rob

Andrew, the middle

Alex, the oldest
Sofie, the youngest

We spent Christmas in Maryland with Steve's sister this year and had a wonderful time.

First: We ate well and a lot. Karen is a wonderful cook and prepared a wonderful meal three times a day while we were there.  As soon as the kitchen was cleaned after breakfast she was getting lunch ready.  I have heard about her famous mac n cheese for the past 6 years, so the most exciting meal for me was Christmas night. I finally got to try it and it was awesomely delicious.

Second: We drank lots of good wine; hot, cold, lukewarm, room temp. I drank mine with chocolate, bread, cheese, crackers, pizza... (Steve and I have to admit that we were 0% Paleo about 100% of the time on this trip).

Third: We were Merry.  The kids got along wonderfully and the four big people in the house were able to visit for hours at a time without a kid interrupting... that's a Christmas miracle if you ask me. Plus, it snowed! Not a lot but it was enough for my boys!

Catching snowflakes
All five boys on the top bunk...  In the near future that won't be possible.
Christmas morning, waiting patiently...

Busy Week

We have lots of busy weeks, but this was our busiest in a long time.  We celebrated two birthdays, got the house decorated for Christmas, entertained some old friends from our Okinawa days, made it to Steve's ACSC Winter Ball, the boy's followed me to Woodstock, Georgia for my first Crossfit competition and Steve had a couple of papers due.... but that's nothing new for him. :)  We celebrated the end of the week hanging out with our neighbors in the lawn leaving the kids to play.  Anyways, here's the text I sent to my girlfriend to set up our hangout time.  I was unaware that she gave her phone to her 15 year old daughter for the day.
