Merry UnChristmas

Now, I do not want to sound Grinchish, But I love when it is time to take Christmas down. The extra space and clean palate invigorate me...and my kids are into it now to. With Christmas music playing loudly in the background we say goodbye to our stockings, the ribbon, and other things we will love to pull out in 12 months! Above, B and D putting away Nativities.
Emma helping in her own way.

Darylyn unwinding ribbon from the banister.

C and A trying to work together to get the lights off the tree.

Carter standing amongst the mess the tree left behind. ( The main reason I like to take down!)
Ahh that feels much better now!

Christmas & New Years in a Nutshell

Our Christmas season was crazy but I am not sure how to avoid that. But overall we made some neat memories. Singing a lot this year as a family for different events, our favorite places two nursing homes Christmas Eve. Our good friends the Gardiners joined forces with us and we enjoyed sharing a bit of Christmas music with the residents. They were a forgiving audience and generous with their applause. A favorite funny moment- Aaron and Brinlie getting caught in the act of delivery to our Secret Santa family. Then turning around and running away! Eating oranges, cookies, and other yummy treats! Oh one of mine- warmed up Pizza for Christmas dinner! No cooking!!!! It was another blessed Christmas and one we are very grateful for.
Merry Christmas kids you all get rubber tires for your bikes!
Dad spent about 4 hours of the day switching out the tires..."Our Hero."
Darylyn and the girls entertain themselves with the workings of the wheels.
Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Hahn! Our boys love money and visions of Bionicles danced in their heads at the sight of these greenbacks!

Emma's long awaited scooter. All of her other gifts meant nothing as long as her scooter was still in the box! Thank you Santa.

Our dorky kids!

Our New Years celebration included our good friends the Syphus'. We ate way too much yummy food and toasted at the New Years with juice! We played games, laughed and all went to bed really quickly that night. Even Emma stayed up till midnight!

HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU ALL!

Emma's Three

Emma Sarah turned three. And what a three she is. Her birthday breakfast wish was cocoa and toast. She woke in the middle of the night and climbed in bed with me and was later deposited on the couch when she was good and asleep. Her siblings woke her up with a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday."

As part of her birthday liberties she wanted to watch the roller skate babies on the internet. (Youtube!) She loves to watch them and this was a special treat for her.

A few weeks before her birthday she got shots! Our Dr. office gave her a bravery coupon to Dinner at Applebees, guess where we went for her birthday dinner? She ordered chicken fingers and ate them all up, she is giving us a thumbs up! Either for the chicken fingers or refillable O.J.

Here is the pretty girl with her two braids, another B-day request.

In the month of December one of our favorite people also has her birthday, Sis. Staheli. (our St. George Grandma) She came out to our house to celebrate Emma's B-day a few days later. But we had a surprise for her. It was a double party. The special birthday people were bequeathed the title of Ladies and enjoyed yummy pumpkin dessert. The fine Ladies are sporting their crowns.

Our life with Emma Sarah is anything but dull. She continually cracks us up! She is always singing away, her repertoire is quite large and varied, from "Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you, " to "I'm singing in the rain," or "Que Sera Sera whatever will be will be." That is a small sampling. Her silly and stubborn ways leave us dumbfounded as parents. What a treasure she is.
Ode to Emma Sarah
Oh I am a girl, brave and strong
I have no fear and my hair's not long.
I love my life the world in my stage
And no one believes I really am my age.
I like to do things my own way,
From the time I wake up to the end of the day.
I watch and listen like a hawk,
And some of the things I do cause quite a shock!
I warble and sing all sorts of songs,
My voice rings true at the top of my lungs.
I like to tell silly ol' jokes,
About chickens and dogs, and frogs that croak.
I am kind to others and help where I can,
For I know about Jesus and follow his plan.
I like to pray to my Father above,
and when I speak I feel His love.
I try very hard to be a good girl
And to my Mom and Dad I am their special pearl.
