what i've been working on

Hey everyone! i thought i'd share some photos of some of the things that I've been creating in my studio lately. I keep saying how "busy" i am, so i figured I'd show some pics of what I've busy at. In between creating, I've been taking an online class with Sally Jean to create one of her fabulous chandeliers. This project was a lot more involved that I anticipated and I've had to slowly make gains on my Chandy; but it is coming along and looking beautiful. Still have much to do on it!

also, my bff, Jane and I have been working on an online soldering class for next January. We've completed our projects (which will be unveiled later on our new blog). We will begin filming the class this summer and want to launch it in January 2013 (you know the time of year where we are sad that the holidays are over and starting to get a little bored of winter already? perfect timing!) if you think you might be interested, be sure and sign up for my newsletter (right column)

In mid April, I am debarking on a cross country trip driving from New Jersey to California where I will be teaching at Artistic Affaire. I'm turning it into a journey of sorts visiting friends along the way and just taking the time to discover myself again. I'm really looking forward to it. It will be a long drive, but I've broken it down into some easy driving and great stops along the way. Once I am there, I will teach and vend and then i will spend the next few weeks playing in my home state and visiting family before heading home again.

I've been a very busy girl, so haven't been blogging too much lately. I'm getting prepared for a country cross drive from New Jersey to California in Mid April. I'll be teaching at Artistic Affaire and I have much to get done; so really working hard.

I will show you some photos of a painting I worked on while staying a few days with my friend, Jane this past weekend. (it's fun to see how it evolves!) We've been working on a project that we will be teaching as an online class next year, so I drove to her house to finally complete it. We finished ahead of schedule, so we broke out the paints! still need to work on her face.............

Yesterday, Jane and I played dollies together and did some assemblage using various doll parts and found objects. Lisa Loria was suppose to be here to teach the class, but alas, it didn't work out. However, she was kind enough to send us our instructions (for a fee) and we set out to play. We had lots of fun and of course, love how our dollies turned out.

I was talking to a friend recently, catching up and discussing a mutual thing we use to be involved with together and she shared with me that, "yeah, "So And So" doesn't like you because you are friends with "So And So". Yes, apparently there's been much gossiping between all of them and word has gotten back to them that I'm friends with someone that they chose not to be involved with. How high school is this? We are all in our late 40's and this kind of crap is still going on? When we will grow up? I don't like this kind of stuff, I don't do drama and it sickens me to think that these are professional women. Art and drama; seems a bit of a contradiction and takes the real meaning away from creativity.

Now normally, I would find this all very upsetting. I am a sensitive person and do not like to be misunderstood. But after she told me that, I realized, I just don't care. And to not care anymore was a really great feeling (you should try it sometime). I know the true reason she "doesn't like me" and it has nothing to do with me. She's just angry that I didn't choose sides. It also explains why I no longer hear from a few of the others as well. Got news for you, I don't choose sides. I am my own person and I don't follow the leader. I do what I think is right and what I feel comfortable with . I don't kiss ass and I follow my own path. And I especially don't like having to explain myself to anyone. For those who don't like, too bad.

Slowly that deck of cards will fall, I've seen it before. The rest of them will have the same thing happen to them. When you behave a certain way, karma tends to catch up with you. So I think I shall continue on my merry way, making good choices and being happy with who I am.

I'm back home now after spending 10 day in Florida (great way to break up winter, let me tell you!) I spent a few days in Orlando, visiting Dillon and also got to take an encaustic class with Patricia Seggebruch (really fun!). then it was off to Boca Raton, to visit my partner in crime, Pam.

We spent a few days shopping, going to art shows/festivals, we spent a few days on the beach and then we spent a few days painting and doing encaustics. Here is a piece I did one day at her house. I really love how she turned out.
