About Me

My photo
I am an artist/musician, so I love to express myself in my work. I am studying to become a graphic designer. I can play guitar and sing with a little bit of piano which I learned by ear. I love to read, especially fantasy books and if it makes me a dork I don't care. I believe there can be a life lesson in everything, even my silly little books :)

Looking Back...

Looking back on the latest sketches I had to do I would say that it was the hardest in the index and texture emphasis. I was just having such a difficult time for some reason, it was like I hit a wall. But then I just started sketching my ideas and I think it came out well enough. I just hope that my texture drawings were in the right direction...

Progress in the Project...

While drawing in class I have notice what sort of style I like the most. As for me, I like the graphical drawings because I am a perfectionist so this type of drawing allows that part of me to shine through. Another style I liked was the painterly because it allowed me to be creative in creating a mug that look so cool and artistic while you can still tell what the object is. My favorite sketch that I have done so far is a painterly sketch of my mug.

Understanding Comics Reading...

The reading definitely put things in perspective for me. Especially shedding light on why I might have liked cartoons so much growing up. It also helped with the assignment to understand that you can have the impression of something without actually having to be too detailed because our brain can figure out what it is...like with a smiley face.

Why I chose Graphic Design.

What influenced me to have graphic design as my major was because I grew up loving to draw and paint, so I thought I would doing something to do with art as a proffession. It wasn't until I started to work more with photoshop did I realize how I loved it so much! I am a perfectionist so when it comes to the use of the grid feature in photoshop and how precise you can get with the tools I was hooked. My art teacher at school was actually my aunt so I think that might have helped me set my feet in what I wanted to major in. I always had a big imagination in that I always loved everything fantasy themed and I liked to let my imagination shine through my art. I especially loved book covers of the fantasy genre. So if I were to get a job with my graphic design I would hope to create book covers, CD covers, or anything that requires fantasy mixed into it.

IDEO Summary

What I thought of the video was that it gave great ways of coming up with ideas, even if the ideas were a bit far out there. It also gave a great example of how design firms may go about there business or at least the cool ones. The video gave great examples on how to think about what is good design and how to improve what is already out there. Who the object is for, how it is used, how to make it easier to use, cost efficient, as well as if it is good for the environment.
