Last Thursday I turned 25--yes, I am now a quarter-of-a-century old, and yes, I was really having a hard time about it. I am feeling way better now. :) Have you ever had a whole day that just felt perfect? That was my birthday. I got to sleep until 8:30 when Rebecca and I got up. I was able to get all ready for the day, make-up included; bathe, feed, and dress Rebecca; and even make some oatmeal before Steven got up at 9:30. The kids and I spent the morning together playing and reading books. My mother-in-law came a couple hours later and we headed off to Costco. I love that place! After a successful shopping spree we picked up Adam (who had finished work early) and went to McConnel's ice cream. It is a small, Santa Barbara based ice cream company that is sooo amazing.
In the evening Adam and I were able to go on a date--our first one since Rebecca was born!!! (Thanks, Mom Hall for watching our cuties!) We went on an awesome boat ride, it was called the "Sunset Cruise," and it was a two hour ride out to sea and up and down the Santa Barbara coast. It was so beautiful! We picked up dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (one of our favorites), then headed out to the boat. We were out on the water while the sun set, and it was so amazing to see the city lit up. Right before the boat left, we saw our friends the Hulmes--random. We told them they should buy some tickets and join us, and they totally did!!! Yay for friends who are spontanious and fun! And we totally owe a huge thanks to Adam's brother Matthew. He drew my name for Christmas gifts last year, and the tickets for the cruise were actually from him! Had it not been for his awesome gift-finding, we totally would never have done such an awesome thing. He lives in Texas, yet he still managed to find something exciting and ten minutes away from us that we totally missed! The evening really was perfect.

Many Silly Faces of My Cutie Kids

Birthday Boy

My baby boy is 2!!! Ahhhh! Time is moving way too fast, and I feel like it's only getting faster. Our sweet Steven boy is so amazing. How lucky I am that Adam was in tune and brave enough to suggest that we up our timetable for having a baby (instead of having our first when we ended up having our second)! Steven is such a good boy. Adam always tells people Steven is so good that a bad day for him is better than a good day for some others, and he is pretty much right. It's okay for me to brag, isn't it? I feel it is our right as parents to shout out the awesome things about our children. Steven has been learning and growing so much. He has especially been learning to talk a lot more. At Christmas time he could only say mama, goggie (doggie), uh-oh, Gecca (Rebecca), and car. Now he can also say Jesus, Elmo, bear, bubble, peese (please), no, tay-too (thank you), and so, so much more--including lots of animal sounds. My favorite animal sound he makes is the monkey--"Oo, ahh, ee!" Haha, he is so much fun! He also gives the best kisses and loves upon request. :)

Thanks to our awesome friends Chris and Jenn Hulme for having us over to their home for Steven's birthday dinner! And thanks to some other awesome friends Claron, Amanda, and Eliza Ridge for coming to party with us!!! We also spent the morning watching old movies of Steven, and we took some treats to church for him to share with all his friends in nursery. :)
Steven got a great birthday bike from Grammi and Papa Hall! Thanks!!! There are 4 birthdays in 8 days in the King family, so we are going to have a combo party in a week and a half. Fun!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Steven's life so far (in chronological order):

Easter Sunday

I love Easter!!! I love that it is a celebration of the Atonement. I love how the celebrations are always focused around new life and spring.
We were lucky enough to get to see both of our families on Easter Sunday. We had a brunch with our Hall side at Adam's Aunt Sally and Uncle Bob's house. Then we had dinner with our King side at my parents' house. Steven got to hunt for eggs at both houses--yay for a serious sugar rush!!! (Seriously, though, it took him about 2 hours to fall asleep, and I had to go in a rock and sing to him to help.) He got pretty good at finding those eggs!
Aren't our kid's matching yellows cute? I love all the Easter colors! Everything feels so fresh and bright!
