Cute Things

Michael:

My favorite:  "Dess." Which means yes.
"A oh like it, a goss."  Speaking about commercials it's interpretation is, "I don't like it, it's gross."
He loves letters lately! We have a letter puzzle and foam letters that he'll spend the day bringing to me while shouting the letter name.  "C!"  "Dubee (W)"  "You-ee (U-which has to be my favorite because his lips mushroom out so far and I just want to kiss them every time!) "K! E!" And so on...

He speaks so much  it's hard to really write all the things he says!

When we say prayers, Michael will often pop right in trying to say the prayer with you.  The most adorable thing about it is he scrunches his face up like he is very concerned and begins his prayer, "Ah Fada (with great emotion in his voice)," then copies the last word of each request made.  It's so cute!

Something else I LOVE about this baby... his laugh.  He has the most hearty laugh in the world! His breath winds up sounding raspy because of how hard he laughs.  Today during lunch, we all finished and Michael was still eating at the bar on his bar stool.  I don't know what he was thinking about, but from the other room we suddenly hear him burst into laughter. Darin and I both go running in to see what he's laughing at and find him just staring off into space it would seem.  But, not looking up at us, he would get a big grin on his face and start chuckling (sounding very much like a machine gun cackle) then burst into full bouts of laughter! He did this for about 5 minutes without stopping. Like he had the giggles or something! Darin and I just kept looking at each other, incredulous, and laughed along.

One more hilarious thing about Michael.  He is the sweetest little darling, still going to time out when asked and everything, but lately he has developed a bit of independence that easily comes off as naughtiness! He likes to do kung fu, and I'll often find him posed, legs bent, ready to strike, then suddenly springing off the ground, one foot at a time, trying to fight his invisible enemy.  If he gets in trouble, he'll sometimes run to the nearest couch or wall and give it a good kick, easing his frustrations I guess!  And he LOVES making me nervous!  He still climbs the tallest area of the couch and jumps! Ah!

Jakob:

Jakob is beginning to read! He is doing so well with his letters, and is now beginning to sound out words.  I bought him a coloring Pre-K book, and some Pre-K activity dry erase cards and he spends hours a day in them.  These days he especially likes the cards.  I take them almost everywhere I go.  He likes it when we read books together as well.  It think his very favorite thing to do though is play with his daddy!  Darin is so cute with both of those boys.  He juggles them around like circus balls and they just laugh and giggle without stopping!  Their favorite game to play with me is hide and go seek.  It'll usually begin with me chasing them playfully, then end up with them running away while I hide in some room and yell, "Come find me!" And when they find me, it's sheer glee and terror all in one moment.

My favorite memories are morning times making breakfast. They LOVE breakfast and I love watching both of their cute pudgy mouths chomp so satisfactorily.  My favorite game is the one where I am frozen sitting on the floor and they come over to try to wake me up... the trick is I am puckering my lips and pretending my eyes are closed so the brave one has to come and kiss me, but often is scared when it works! I try to drag it out... forcing them to give me several kisses before I finally pop awake and scare them both.  Michael's kisses are the most awesome because he sticks his pursed lips out just like a mushroom as far as they will go and plants a juicy one first on my lips, then on my forehead, back and forth.  So adorable.

I have never seen a more tender child.  The other day, he actually started crying in compassion for one of the cartoon characters on a show he was watching! It was the 3 Musketeers staring Mickey, Goofy, Donald.  Jake was so concerned for Donald when he was deserting he had this permanent frown in those sweet round cheeks and he kept saying, "Mommy, he's sad! It's gonna be okay?" Over and over.  If Michael is crying, Jakob will sit and try to find out what's bothering him, all the while choking on a sob of his own. "Michael, you want mommy? Michael, you okay? Michael, want daddy? Stop crying, Michael. It's okay! It's okay!" Just over and over. My favorite is when Jake finally guesses what Michael wants and Michael wails, "Dessss!!!"

Every now and then Darin lays them in bed together.  And as our night activity, Darin and I sit and read while listening to them make each other laugh hysterically.  I could not be living a more happy life!

Jakey has been doing something strange lately... worth documenting for memory's sake... He has been forcing himself to go #2 every single time he's on the toilet! The infuriating thing about it is he doesn't like wiping himself yet! So I'll get up several times in the day to go help him, only to find a teeny tiny little nuggets worth in the toilet he's not willing to take care of himself! Ah!

Favorite quote of Jakey:

When he eats all his veggies, he says, "Mommy, I'm so proud of you. Love you, dear."

Tomato Kiss

I learned that Michael doesn't like tomatoes while picking some out of the garden. They were the small, cherry-sized, yellow tomatoes and Jakob could eat them all day. While Jake and Michael were running around on the trampoline, I popped one in each of their mouths. Jakob ate his promptly, but Michael just ran around the tramp, tomato still in mouth. Finally, with mouth gaping open and tomato still whole, he ran right for me, stooped over as if to kiss me and with one flick of his tongue popped the tomato right from his mouth into mine! I could not stop laughing! What a little character! He just laughed and laughed as we took turns popping the tomato from one mouth to the other. Yeah, some would comment on the germs, but I wouldn't trade my sweet little memory for anything... not even good health. :) P.S. I didn't get sick and neither did he.
