A Day at The Beach

Before Daniel started school, we were able to spend a day at the beach with Daniel's family.  Conner loves the sand. 

 That big shovel quickly became dangerous.  Conner ended up with a shovel full of sand on his head.  (in his ears, mouth, nose... yuck!)  So it was time to go to the ocean to wash off a bit.

Daniel introduced Conner to the ocean.

 He likes the water a lot, but the sand is more predictable.  Conner is not a huge risk taker.

 Daniel pulled Conner on the boogie board on the sand. Maybe next year we will advance to the water.

 Conner decided that he liked having his legs buried in the sand.  He would help Daniel cover his legs, then dig and search for his legs and toes.

 He got pretty comfortable on his sand throne. :-)

This was actually our second trip to the beach since our arrival in California. Our first beach trip was in San Diego for Ryan's (Daniel's nephew) birthday.  Conner loves playing in the sand with his cousins.

First Day of School!

 After 4 years of applying, waiting, and working hard, Daniel finally is starting vet school!  Hurray!

He started on August 6th and had a week of orientation.  That sounds boring, and some of it was, but a lot of it was very informative.  Western University has a very unique curriculum, so it was great for Daniel to get a better understanding of how he would be spending his time the next 4 years.

Growing up, my mom always took our picture on the front step on our first day of school.  So here are a few pictures for my mother.

Daniel is very excited (and nervous) about school.  He loves the professors he has met so far and is really excited about the case-based approach to learning.  We know that the next 4 years will be a lot of hard work for both of us, but we are so excited for Daniel to get started on his career.

Farewell Twin Falls!

It was so hard to say goodbye to all of our friends in Twin Falls.  We only lived there a year, but we really loved it!

 Of course, Carter is one of Conner's best friend because Carter's mom is one of my best friends.  Since I actually understood that this would be the last time we saw them for a long time, it was a bit harder for me to say goodbye than for Conner.

 We took a few breaks from packing to spend some time with our best buddies the Simpsons.  We watched Carter's baseball game one night, and Conner loved it.

 Adam, Tara, Carter and Torin are definitely some of our favorite people.  Conner and I spent a lot of time playing with them the last few months.  He stayed with them while I went to Youth Conference with the Young Women.  We will really miss the Simpson family!

 Tara and the boys came over and helped us clean.  The boys did a great job at entertaining Conner.  :-)

Thank you to everyone for all of your help with the move.  We could not have done it alone!

We left Twin Falls on Thursday, the 19th, and spent the night at my parents in Paul (AKA our storage unit).  Friday we drove to Rexburg to attend Kristin's Graduation.  On our way there, we stopped to say goodbye to some family.

Conner & his cousin Boston are 9 months apart.  One day they will be best buds.  :-)

 Conner is really good at giving kisses.  Aunt Tashina & Uncle Arlen got kisses.

 He is a little afraid of babies, so Tioni did not get a kiss. I am not sure what he is going to do with a little baby brother!!

 Kristin's Graduation was in the I-Center at BYU-I.  The speakers were great, but and hour is a little long for Conner to sit quiet, so Conner and Daniel spent most of the time exploring all of the stairs in the building.
