Tonight at dinner we were reviewing our day and all the fun we had and were talking about Memorial Day and why it is so special. Layne tells us how there are lots of men and women who died in protecting our country so that we can be free. I jump in and try to clarify "free" so that Julia would know that it also means "safe". So after Layne says "free", I say, "Or safe." And Julia chimes in and adds, "Or four". (When she counts she says the word "free" instead of the word "three". ) Just too cute.
We had fun working in Layne's parents yard while the kids played outside, had a picnic and played on the playground, visited his grandpa's gravesite, and flew kites - a first for both Julia and Austin. It was a wonderfully fun day.
