Trip to OK
Well, to begin with Stanley knew I wanted to see my girls and their babies and since it looked like he thought he'd be busy and not able to go to Gen. Conf. like we wanted, he said I could go. And Ellee was asking me to go around Labor day if at all possible. So it looked like everything would work and I booked a flight and then Miss Elizabeth said she'd go with me if I wanted to drive, cuz she knows I hate to fly and prefer to drive. And it felt good! I canceled my flight and we planned on leaving earlier and we planned on NOT telling Ellee and Emmee that Elizabeth was coming! Oh the intrigue of it all! And the lies! Well, not out and out lies, lets just say partial truth's. Well, I did tell the truth, but not the whole truth! I told the girls that someone in my stake had family in OK and they heard I was going and wondered if they could come and get dropped off. Of course they wanted to know who it was and I wouldn't tell them. It was funny really! But hard! We left early Friday morning and drove 16 hours straight and got there by 10 that night. We made great time considering mapquest said it took 18 hours or more! And it was great to see their faces when Elizabeth popped out! The next surprise came in the morning when the boys woke up. Ellee had not told the boys we were coming early, they thought I was coming Monday. So they woke up and were talking and joking and trying to be quiet. They went in the kitchen and saw our food and thought that was for their trip and then they caught sight of us sleeping in the front room. Oh they got real quiet and slippery and sneeky - peeking around corners to see if they could see who it was. It was so fun laying there acting like I was asleep, listening to everything they said and did! They went into Ellee's room and said rather loudly, "Is that grandma and grandpa sleeping in the front room?" Ellee told them to be quiet and go back to their room. They came peeking around again and when they got close to me, I sat up and said, "It's grandma! Come give me a hug!" Boy were they surprised! After giving me a hug, I told them Elizabeth was here too and she woke up and they gave her a hug too! It was great! We had a great time there. Went to church and saw them in action in Primary. Ellee did sharing time and Emmee is the chorister. It was great watching my girls in action! They did a great job! Monday we went shopping in Wichita and found some good deals. The girls made me buy a new black sweater. They thought mine was old and ratty looking! Tuesday we went to Stillwater and did a little more shopping. Wednesday we went shopping in town and Thursday we relaxed and got ready to leave the next morning. We had a great time with them all. Ate great food, laughed and played with the kids, Ellee and Emmee got family pictures taken by Elizabeth and I didn't take enough pictures! Here are the ones I took!
Emmee practicing the piano. It needs to be tuned, but sounds pretty good except for that high G - yuck!
Bensen - looks like he got hit in the face by a foot maybe!
Bensen loves cars. I got the boys these ironman cars and he wanted to play with them.
Gavin doing one of his look the other way faces.
Merik with his car.
Bensen playing with it again.
Could not get enough of this chunky little man!
Emmee loves being on the floor with her boys!
Miss Brynlee in her crib
Miss Payson twirling her tongue. She's really good at it too!
Biting the stuffing out of their toys!
They are both teething! Can you tell!?
Emmee giving Bensen some yummy jello Alex made
Sweet Bensen, actually smiling for me!
Gavin doing some tumbling action
Love these big blue eyes!
He's getting ready to crawl, but can barely get that chunky belly off the floor!
Got this finished Thursday for Meriks birthday. It's a map made on canvas. I made one for my older boys when they were little and the grandkids love to play on them still. They loved it and played all over it for about 1/2 hour and then it was on to the next thing!
Having fun in the saucer
Elizabeth photoshopping all the pictures she took. She would spend hours on it, coming to bed one morning at 2 am!
I am the champion!
The morning we left! Loved being with my girls and my babies! Miss them terribly!
We got home about 10 pm. Not as fast as the drive there. We ran into some major rain storms and construction that slowed us down, even with Elizabeth driving! She drives fast! We had a great time! Might be ready for another road trip in a couple of months!
