Pretty - Once Upon a Sketch -November 15th Challenge

Journalling criteria: This time the journalling criteria focuses on YOU as a woman OR ANY female in your life. What is the best thing about being a woman? Motherhood? Shopping? Make Up? Girls nights? Gossip? Your journalling can be as long as you wish and in any language, but you must journal at least 2 sentences on the best part of being a woman.

You must combine the journalling criteria with this sketch..
Here is my page, it is of my dressing table, a place where I have all my special / pretty things on. I might have changed nappies all day, clean up sick and done 3 loads of washing but I can look at my dressing table and remember all the nice things that we as women can celebrate.

Get Picky, Sketch #14 - Sweet Cherry Face

Get picky has done it again with a very interesting sketch design to inspire us in our scrapping. It took a while for me to find the right photos to suit. However here it is, Kate on our Cherry picking trip up in the Adelaide Hills in January this year. It was such a lovely day and the kids just loved picking and eating the cherries, they were so yummy! In this page I used  a cherry button made by Lil' Red Rocket.

Bird is the Word - Adore

Adore, such a lovely word and of course I adore all my children and husband but I thought I would scrap Kate's adoration for chocolate, especially chocolate mud cake.

Sketch: Mary Thomas
(sketch use is not required to win the challenge)
I choose to use the sketch, it makes my scrapping so much easier if I have a great sketch to inspire me.

Once Upon a Sketch -November 1st Challenge

Journalling Criteria: This time you need to journal at least 2 SENTENCES on WHEN you started scrapping and WHY?

You MUST combine our journalling criteria with this sketch.
Why do I scrap, good question, I have been doing it for about 9 years so there must be something that keeps bringing me back to my scrap desk most days. To tell our family stories so they can be passed on in a more interesting and sometimes an artistic way. I also love this time to my self.
In this photo there are 4 generations of women from my family. Through my scrapbooking I am hoping to tell all our stories, from the past, present and even our hopes for the future.

Get Picky, Inspiration #13

This month it's a photo prompt - be inspired by this photo AND you must include FABRIC on your page. The fabric can be in any way, shape or form (burlap, lace, felt etc)...

This is the page that I came up with,  it is of Kate's first night in her new room. We were not really sure if she would like the lime green colour we choose for her. However as you can see in the photo she was very happy with the colour scheme.
In this challenge I have also included a create  a page with a Lime Tree Creation goody and then include another hand made object. I included some little paper pattern flowers that a friend made for me.

Thanks for another great challenge.

Bird is the Word - Together

Sketch by Mary Thomas
The word is together, so many options I  had to choose from, but I found this photo of my mum and me taken 30 years ago. There are hardly any photos of us together because she was always the one behind the camera. So maybe I am more like her than I thought I was.
Note to self: Have more photos of  my children and me together.

In this page I have also used some flowers that the wonderful Heather made and sent me, there are some more on her blog if you like them.   http://heather-stormscraps.blogspot.com/p/flower-shop.html .
Thanks for another great challenge http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/

Once Upon A Sketch.. I am a Pug!

October 15th challenge

Journalling criteria: A most embarrassing/awkward/uncomfortable moment or characteristic/feature/habit/mannerism/quality or quirk you or someone around you possesses. Journal at least 2 SENTENCES on a moment that you will remember for all the wrong reasons.

You must combine our journalling criteria with this sketch.
I thought about this for a while, while I have done lots of embarrassing things, there are no photos to show this. However our poor pug Harry is constantly embarrassed by us especially at Christmas time when we get the reindeer antlers out. You can see it in his puggy face, go on I'll do it to get it over and done with for another year. This year will be his 15th Christmas with us, love you Harry Pug.

Get Picky, Happy First Birthday

Get Picky is turning 1, congratulations on a great year of sketches and inspirations you have designed for us to create our pages from.

Here is Sketch #13
Here is my page that I have created, it is Kate before she went to a friends fancy dress party. She really did look pretty. Yesterday while looking for a new paint colour for a wall I found this colour swatch called mermaid's smile, how perfect, just had to include it on the page.
Thanks again for the challenge. By the way the cake that you have on your blog, I love it, so much so it is going to be Kate's birthday cake in 2 weeks! Thanks for another great inspiration.

Baby, just you and me.

You and Me is the word/s for the bird is the word challenge finishing in a couple of days. Now that the kids are back at school I  have been able to do some scrapping this week.
This photo was taken at the Buddy Walk in Adelaide to raise money for people with Down Syndrome.  Kate took her baby along for the walk, her buddy since she was about 2! She never wants to dress it or give it a name, it is her "baby".
It is a very bright page, but it was such a glorious sunny day I wanted to replicate the fun and happiness shared on this day.

Once Upon a Sketch - September 15th Challenge

Journalling Criteria: This time you need to journal 2 lines directly on your photo. You can write on your photo, you can print your writing on your photo, you can use journalling strips on your photo etc. There is no theme this time, just a journalling technique criteria.

You must also use this sketch.
For my father in laws 70th birthday I had promised my mother in law that I would create a page based on this photo of Jim taken on his last gold prospecting trip up north. Thanks to the wonderful sketch provided by Nadia I was able to have this ready in time. In this page I have tried to keep to earthy tones and golds due to his love of getting out in the bush and prospecting for gold. I have put a journaling strip down the side of the photo and I have used rub ons down the bottom of the photo for the date.

Thanks again for the great challenge.

Bird is the Word - MEMORY

As Time Goes By....
The word for the 28th of September, which is also the day my little man turns 4 is memory. I decided to scrap my husbands grandfather Charles as he was in the 1940s. He is still alive today and when we visit him in a couple of weeks I will be able to give him this page to keep as his memory of years gone by.

Once Upon a Sketch - September 1st Challenge

I was very lucky last challenge to win a August kit from Tidbitz In Time in the random draw. I am so thankful that you offer these random prizes because the pages that are created for your challenges are just amazing, and I know I am not up to the winners standard but I am learning so much from all the wonderful pages that I see.
Here is the first challenge for September.
Journalling Criteria : A memorable year - Your title must be a year, and you must journal at least 2 lines on why this year is memorable for you. Examples: the year you got married, the year you graduated, the year you moved to a new house/country, the year you started a new job, the year your child was born, the year you lost someone dear. Your journalling can be in any language and any format (written, typed etc)
You must combine our journalling criteria with the following sketch...

The year 2000 came straight to mind, I turned 30 and Brendan and I were having a wonderful  time together. I think we both knew that we needed to start sharing this life with another. In October of 2000 I became pregnant with our first child.
For this page I tried to give it an Art Deco feel, the picture was taken at a 1920s Ball at the Glenbrook RAAF Base.

Bird is the Word - Love

This is my third bird is the word page that I have created now and I really look forward to the challenge of creating a page around one word. Love, is a huge, meaningful word, I played it down a bit and created a page of Kate and Liam cooking together. I love watching them cook together and they love spending time together while cooking.
Thanks for looking and thank you for leaving such positive and kind words about my pages, it is so greatly appreciated.

From Screen to Scrap - August Challenge.

Thought I could fit in one more challenge before the end of the month. This months challenge at Screen to Scrap was based upon this movie poster of Holiday Inn. Try also to include:
1) Use music sheet pp on your page = 1 pt
2) Two tone title = 2 pts
3) Lets see some red and navy on your page = 3 pts

Not sure if  my title is 2 tone, but it is close!
For this page I scrapped a photo of Aidan outside the Adelaide Entertainment Centre before Saltimbanco started. I didn't go but he was very happy when he got home and he really enjoyed the humor in it.

By the way,  happy 2nd Birthday From Screen to Scrap!

Once Upon a Sketch - August 15th Challenge

In this challenge we needed to combine this sketch with a couple of lines from our favourite song. I  have so many favourite songs, all a bit deep and meaningful for a page I thought. So I choose my favourite childrens song. After going through playgroups and kindy for many years, the one that I and the kids really get into is Dingle Dangle Scarecrow. Great action song.
The photo was taken at Yalumba Winery during the Harvest Festival. There is a Scarecrow Trail around the Barossa Valley and schools, community group, businesses and private houses create a scarecrow for a competition.

Scrap the Boys - August Challenge

This months challenge at Scrap the boys was to draw our inspiration for a page from this photo of a boys bedroom. Lots of great colours and patterns to work with. Here is what I came up with....
This is Liam on our cherry picking day out in the Adelaide Hills, we had such a great time looking for cherries in the trees. Liam has already requested that we go back next year.

Out Of the Hat - Pasta

These are the 3 things that were picked out of the hat this month.

A square photo/s (this doesn't have to be all of them just at least one)
- Paint
- Strip journaling.
This is the page that I came up with. I hadn't scrapped a page about Aidan in a while so it was nice to do one and I was glad to see he was also happy with the end results.

Bird is the Word - Dream

My Dream came true this year to see Kate at school with her brother and at a school that welcomed her with opened arms and hearts. Having a child with Down Syndrome is a joy and at the same time very hard. Dealing with education systems can be and has been heartbreaking at times. Just like any other parent we we want the best for our children and I just wanted Kate to be happy but be able to learn like any other child. We have it now, so dreams do come true....
Thanks for the challenge and thank you Nadia for the lovely sketch that I did use to help create this page.

Once Upon a Sketch - August Challenge

This has been on my to do part of the desk all this month, so I was so pleased to be able to do it and finish it off in time. I loved the idea of creating a page around " A perfect day is......" and this lovely sketch to follow.
I choose to scrap the day we went driving around the Adelaide Hills on a beautiful sunny winters day. The kids had such a great time and the other perfect thing about the day was that I was able to get a photo with all the kids looking at the camera at the same time!
I must also say that the pages that people have created for this challenge are absolutely amazing and very inspiring, so many talented scrappers around the world. Here is the link, have a look at all the amazing pages people have created.

Get Picky - July Inspiration Challenge #10

It seems to becoming a habit of mine to leave the Get Picky Challenges up to the last days, maybe it just takes me that long to decided on what I am going to create! This months inspiration was a picture of butterflies, really how hard could it be to include butterflies on a page.
I decided again to go back through my old photos, I do enjoy scrapping photos of my sister and me, it brings back many happy memories. Here we are in our Tutus at Nana's flat practising our steps before the end of year concert.
Thanks Get Picky for the challenge.

Bird is the Word - Today

I have found another blog that has inspired me to scrap. Every 2 weeks a new word is posted then we have 4 weeks to complete a page. There is a sketch by Nadia that we can use for inspiration, I decide to use it, just turned it around to suit the picture of Liam.
This is a page about Liam, my little 3 year old super hero who decided on this sunny day that he was going to save the World. How could he go wrong with a mixture of Buzz Lightyear and Batman!

Thanks for the challenge, looking forward to doing the next words.
