We had such an amazing honeymoon. Costa Rica is so beautiful and it was like we were on our own private island. We stayed at a resort called Recreo. I would highly recommend going if you want to get away from it all! Private house, private chef, private pool, basically private beach and the nicest people you will ever meet.
We were basically in the middle of no where so we just used our rental car to drive from our house to the beach which was about a mile apart. When we first arrived to Costa Rica we were overly tired and exhausted. Last minute our flight got changed and we had to leave our wedding at ten o' clock to make our flight. After the first leg of our flight we got delayed about 3 hours -- so we were going on no sleep and tired from the wedding etc. We finally arrived to beautiful Costa Rica and received our rental car where we were then left to navigate our way through the unknown with no cell phones and a pretty vague map. Let's just say about 5 hours later, two dead end beach's, Ryan apologizing for horrible honeymoon planning and a pretty strong fear that we might be spending the night in the woods in a car and no way to communicate with the local people, we FINALLY drove up to the beautiful wooden gates that were the entrance to our home for a week!
Each house comes with a personal chef, ours was Rosa -- and she was AMAZING. She cooked us three amazing meals a day with a snack and frozen drinks whenever we were lounging at the pool etc. I want to go back just to have her cook for me again. Most of the cooks at Recreo were related and would walk home in the dark every night (they lived about 2 miles down the road) so we communicated through our Spanish to English translation book and got to know them and ended up giving them a ride home almost every night.
This is the beach that we went to almost daily to boogie board, swim, sit on the beach and kayak. It was so beautiful and secluded. By the last day I didn't get in the water much because of all the jelly fish stings but it was b . e . a . utiful.
Our excursion to Nicaragua was beautiful, full of history and really sad all at the same time. We went to a few of the old buildings and church's in the area and took a boat ride to "Monkey Island" where Ryan alllllmost got his chance to feed the monkeys.
These guys were everywhere and would scatter as you walked by. This one happened to be stuck for the moment and I was able to get some pictures. They were really cute but super shy.
Our house -- Three bedrooms upstairs and living and dining downstairs.
In the distance is the island that we kayaked too -- it doesn't seem like it's that far away but it was scary going all the way out there.
