Desert View Pro Rodeo

Here is a picture of my dad riding a bull when I was about 4 years old. Isn't he awesome!

It's rodeo time! One of my favorite times of the year is the rodeo. There is nothing more fun to me than attending the Pro rodeo. I love the broncs, I love the bulls, and I LOVE the barrel racers. I think that my love for the rodeo comes from my dad. He was always announcing rodeo's and when he was younger he was the best bull rider around.

This year for the rodeo, the county decided to have some of the locals do the Hyde Race. If you don't know what the Hyde Race is well you are missing out on some classic entertainment. So a cowboy is on his horse at one end of the arena and his partner is standing by a barrel at the other end. The cowboy on the horse takes off pulling a large piece of hyde (well belting) and the partner must grab hold of the rope and ride the hyde all the way around the barrel and to the other end of the arena. Anyway, Kyle and his brother decided that they wanted to participate. Everything was going smoothly, but on their way back, Kyle's brother let go of the rope. They would have won the $1000.00 if he just would have stuck it out. It was so much fun watching them.

Kade also had a great time at the rodeo. I am not sure if he really watched the rodeo, but he sure had fun playing with Kelsey by the fence.

I am sad that the rodeo is over...but that means that the pageant is coming next week!!

Tyce loved playing with the ticket.

Baby Tyce

Tyce is now 7 months and he is such a cutie pie. He is the happiest baby ever. He started to scoot around a few weeks ago and now for the past few days he has been crawling everywhere. Also this week his first tooth popped out. He is getting so big! I tried to get a picture of his tooth but it is really hard to see.

Camping with the Larsens

Camping with the Larsens

A few weekends ago we went camping with Kyle's family. It was a short trip but the kids had a blast. We camped and fished up Duck Fork Reservior. Ferron Mountain is so beautiful. It is so green and the flowers are everywhere. Hope you enjoy the sideshow of our camping trip......

Hard Day

My Dad and his favorite horse Chino
Today, July 9th, has been a really hard day for me. A year ago today I watched my dad pass away. I miss him so much and I wish that he was still here to watch my boys grow. He would be so proud of them.
I decided to write some of my favorite memories that I have of my dad:
#1. My dad was the BEST rodeo announcer in the state of Utah. My dad would go all over announcing rodeo's, and he was SO good at it. The best is when he would announce the local rodeo. Everyone enjoyed listening to my dad up there in the announcers booth, and I was always so proud to be his daughter. Right in the middle of the rodeo, my dad would say "Jasa and Jana, go get me a pepsi" and we thought that we were so cool.

#2. Dancing with my dad was always a treat. After all of the rodeo's my dad would head over to the pavillion and dance the night away. We had a blast dancing with him. He had his own way of dancing, and man was it fun! He would swing us around and we would just laugh. Everyone stopped to watch Jay and his girls dance.

#3. Riding horses with my dad was so much fun. We rode a lot!! Every Saturday my dad would sit out in his truck at 6:00am and honk the horn...that meant that we had 10 minutes to scarf our ceral and gather up our saddles. We would ride all day long in either the scortching heat, or the freezing cold....but we always had a good time. The entire time that we would ride, my dad would tell us the greatest stories about when he was young and would ride bulls and saddle bronc. He also told us about the days when him and "Butch Cassidy" would hang out. The cool thing is that he probably really hanging out with him now.
#4. Swimming at hidden holes. We spent a lot of time camping near our cows so that we could move them around. Well, there was this one spot called Hidden Holes that we would always stop at to swim and cool off. No one else has ever been there before because it is really hard to find. While all of us girls were being chicken livers, my dad would jump right in the San Rafael river with is wranglers on and all. He was always the first one in. He was SO much fun to be around and he was always laughing.

#5. My dad was a very hard worker. He worked construction for most of his life. Every so often, we would go out to his work site and he would take us around on the big equipment. He used to think that we were so cool riding up on the big water truck with my dad. He was also so proud to show us off. My dad had no boys, so he made us work hard and he was proud to prove to everyone that his girls were tougher that any boy.
I have so many more great memories of my dad. He was so much fun and he loved us girls. I miss him everyday and I can't wait until I can see him again.

4th of July

Happy 4th of July

The 4th of July weekend was a blast. We first hit the parade, then we went to the carnival, and finally we ended up camping up Huntington Canyon (which is one of my families traditions). Kade has a blast camping. After only 10 minutes of being up on the Moutain....Kade was covered with dirt from head to toe. I didn't want to come home from camping, but I ran out of food.

Can you believe it!

Jasa has been talking about cutting her hair short for a really long time. It never crossed my mind to cut my hair short until I went to a scrapbook party and saw all of the girls with their cute hair cuts. I called Jasa on the phone and told her that we should get it done together. Next thing I know we have an appointment for the very next day. My hair has never been this short....ever! You can't tell by the picture, but the back is shorter than the front.....what do you all think??

Libety Land Fun Park

Today my mom took all of her grandkids to the Liberty Land fun park in Lehi. The kids had a blast! The rides were just perfect for all of our small kids and there was no waiting in any lines! Kyle and Tyce stayed home so Kade and I were able to spend some time together. It was a great day. Thanks Grandma Jo!
