Everything but Dinosaur

Last week, while were making cookies, I made a dinosaur cookie for Zach. What else you could expect, soon after it cools off, he gobble it all up, but he was very happy that I made one for him. Yesterday while they were sleeping, I made a snow dinosaur for them. Thinking that snowman is a very common figure during winter, I thought that I can make something new. I was in the process of making the legs and it keeps on falling off. I just thought that I could never make it. Then I started to build the tail part until I made the frame and started piling the snow upward to make the trunk and the head. Just before I get the thing done, the boys woke up, so I put their suit on and let them out to help me. Sure enough after an hour or so, we got the dinosaur done and started taking pictures. I am thinking that today maybe we can make some crocodile but there's no way I guess since the snow is so heavy outside.

Make 'em busy

I made playdough for the boys to make them busy especially this time where we can't get out. Here's Zach so serious with his kneading business. Maybe he can be a chief or a baker when he grows up. Jake don't care much, after few minutes he's done. But they are both good at rolling and slicing and molding. I guess we can keep the dough for a while.

Summer fun

I thought winter is fun since we can go outside and play with the snow, but now that we got almost 2feet of snow, I felt like this is just a little bit too much. We can't even walk down to gramma's place. Yesterday, I shovel all the the way down to mom's way to make a foot walk so at least we can go see them anytime we want too. But this morning as I woke up, the snow covers the path I made. I felt bad because I got backache and sore in the shoulder and thighs trying to make that foot walk and turned out to be only good for a day.
Anyway, this is the photo of the boys taken last summer. I guess I love summer more than winter again.

Little rascals...

These are from mom's camera, so I am a little bit late.

The kids have so much fun on Thanksgiving. Bret's and Beckey's family came over to spend thanksgiving with Grandma and of course with their whole gang. So here's the kids, there are so much rumbling going on, so good to see they are enjoying with their cousins.

The day after my birthday.

Zach is supposed to be the moose here. They are having fun.

Corina, Mika with Mattisse came over to visit Jan. And also Kathy and Sam. It's always nice to see family around, too bad they always don't stay very long - everybody have errands to do. But we have fun.

Turban Squash

This is the weirdest squash I ever see. Uncle Joe bought this for Grandma last Thanksgiving for a centerpiece of her table. She don't know what to do with it after that so I ask it from her and I bake it. Taste good and I might put some in the soup. You must haven't heard one here but back home we eat lots of squash, very healthy! huh?

Stunning winter beauty!

This is around our house and I just can't stop looking at it. Isn't it pretty? I felt like I am a professional photographer to capture some like these.

Deep freeze in Narnia

If you have seen the movie Narnia, our place looks pretty much like it. This is what we got on Thursday morning. Is that a surprise? I love the new landscape! The snow is pretty crispy. I can feel the crunch of ice under my boots walking on it. We are below freezing and the snow is very dry. We can't even make a snow ball since it don't stick together as in it feels like sand. No fun for a while other than staying inside the house and keep warm.

Christmas cookie

This whole week seems like we haven't done a thing other than making cookies for Christmas. It is Mom's tradition to make Christmas cookies to give away to neighbors, friends and family member. She always say that they haven't realized how much work it is to make cookies. It's true, other than all of the ingredients from flour to nuts and butter, you have to spend all your time from mixing to rolling every cookie, and baking plus you have to of course clean up all of the pans and bowls, or should say you have to clean up the whole kitchen. So, here's I am next by mom trying to help her in every way I can, and it's a good thing too other than being the first one to taste the cookie, I can bring home free cookies, and learning so much from her and I also enjoy her company. These cookie in the picture are just part of what we made because today we did new two kinds of cookies again that fill up two tupperware containers.

Our Christmas tree

We just put up our fresh Christmas tree last night. The boys help me hanging all of the ornaments and I took some pictures of it. Trying to adjust the setting of the camera, and this is what I got. I think I like the first blurry one, he he he...
It looks like there's a live electric out in every bulbs. I love the blend of lights and colors.

Wednesday afternoon

The snow start to melt and we wish that it will continue to clear up the ground. It's been very cold since we are below freezing at night, but it don't look like we are getting a warmer day. And by the way it's not winter yet. Winter will start on Sunday 21st and it means we have a long way to go before we can enjoy a warmer days. But we'll just have to add another layer to keep ourselves warm. Good thing Mom is just next door and she keep her place a little warmer than ours. She insist our blood gets thinner as we grow older and that's the reason why she heats up her house to 70 degrees.

Sleeping buddies

I have a hard time to put Zach and Jake in their beds. Then I decide to put their beds side-by-side. Zach love to hold on something to get himself to sleep or he will suck his thumb while holding in his ears, while Jake love to keep himself warm inside my arms, once they fall asleep, is only when I left their bedroom. This time Zach just had his brother's hand to make himself fall asleep. I thought this is a sweet pictures of them.

Desk for the Boys

Dad built this desk for the boys before thanksgiving. They've been enjoying it. The bench is built in and you can lift the top and there is a drawer where they can put their writing materials and even their toys. They can also climb up and down on it. Also the partition serves as a board to stick their projects. I think their Dad did a good job!

We Got Snow!

Before we went to bed last night, we saw snow started falling and we know that today we have enough to make a snow man. Just as promised to the boys, after our breakfast, I bundle them up and off we went outside. We have so much fun! Zach and Jake tried to do their part in building a snowman. We did! I rush in to take some things to decorate when Zach started screaming...he knocked the snowman that we just made. He was thrilled! He thought that it was so funny. We tried to build it again together and we pick up some rocks for the eyes and hands. Use his Dad's hat and took some pictures. Jake finally decided to get inside, his hands is freezing cold, but Zach stayed for another 30minutes. He's Dad finally ask him to get inside. We might get more snow tonight as forecast.

My drawings

I've done all of these not at the same time but only when I felt I need to do something. It is hard to keep your hobby when their are babies around climbing up and down your lap when you are trying to do something. The blurred falcon and insect were done months ago but the rest were done just last month, since my primary kids I'm teaching at church demanded to have some picture of their favorite cartoon character. Since I don't want to give away the original copy, I decided to give them a nice photocopy which they all enjoy. Instead of having just a copy of their favorite character, they got the copy of all the pictures I drew. Sometimes, it's nice to have something done, but of course, I can't say that I have done a perfect job but I can say that I have tried my best.
When I was in my high school, I remember, I used to make money out of making a visual aids for students in both college and high school. Now I am doing it just for fun. But once in a while, I would thought that it would be nice if I can make a sort of compilation of the things I can do. My kids may find good use of it later on. Or maybe they will be motivated to learn. My materials? Just pencil and paper, no fancy stuffs.
