Tough Girl!

Cooper got her first black eye for Christmas! She fell and hit a toy piano. At first we thought she just had some food or something above her eye. The next morning she woke up with a slight black eye that has gotten worse each day since. It doesn't seem to phase her and she didn't even cry much when she hit her eye. Maybe having two brothers is paying off.

CHRISTMAS TREE 2006

Our Christmas card this year is not "Christmasy." Scott and I both love the pictures we chose but the kids are not dressed in red and green big bulky sweaters! For some reason I think you need one of those pictures every year.
Sunday morning before church I decided to capture this since everyone was dressed and looking nice. I told the kids that I wanted to take their picture and the twins actually went and stood by Cayden and posed! We will try again next Sunday but here they are in a Christmas outfit with our tree this year. You can see how much Cayden loves them by the way he has his hands around his twins!
Merry Christmas and God Bless!

Salado Stroll 2006

One of my favorite things to do at Christmas time is the Salado Stroll. It begins with the Salado Christmas Parade which I highly recommend. It is short, has fire trucks, live animals, candy, all the local kids, Santa, and the whole thing is usually no more than 20 minutes long. The parade is the Thursday prior to the first weekend in December. Then, the first two weekends in December they have what is called the Salado Stroll.
Main Street in Salado is decorated for Christmas with white lights on everything that would stand still. All the shops in town are open way past normal business hours. There are locals selling hot chocolate, apple cider, sausage wraps, burgers, and our favorite, Kettle Corn. You are sure to see at least two Santas which as the kids grow older gets tough to explain. It just makes it feel like Christmas time. Tonight that was especially true because it was so cold.
Scott and I have gone by ourselves and with the kids. Both ways are very different and great. Tonight we bundled everybody up and walked Main Street looking for Santa and Kettle Corn. We found both and got a rare family shot with Santa and the Mrs.
Merry Christmas!

Happy Halloween 2006

This picture is a bit late. We've been experiencing some technical difficulties!
For Halloween this year Cayden wanted to be Darth Vader. Of course the twins had to be Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
Cooper and Cutter were both sick but by golly we went trick or treating!!! Cutter got a little bit of candy in his basket and was happy to eat a sucker and be carried. Cooper on the other hand got into it and was even saying "Trick Treat" and "Thank You." She loved getting free candy from people she didn't even know. Cayden had a blast running wild with all his buddies and made quite a haul.
We tried to cram about 5 hours of activities into a 2 hour window and failed but we had fun trying.

Brotherly & Sisterly Love

While they get on each other's nerves constantly I think they still love each other! Not being a twin I can only imagine how cool it is to always have somebody there to play with, visit with (like they do at night in their cribs), or just irritate! Being the mom of twins I probably appreciate it more than they do or ever will.
(The look on Cutter's face speaks volumes!)

Bubba Cutter

I've had a few people say, "Where's Cutter? There's a picture of Cayden and a picture of Cooper but not one of Cutter." So, today I got a very fitting picture of Cutter. He has in his big brother's Bubba Teeth that have a whistle in the middle. This is one of Cooper's favorite toys and she's actually quite good at blowing it. Cutter just decided to try to blow on it and had a very faint whistle sound coming out. You just can't beat a kid named Cutter with Bubba Teeth! There's got to be a "You might be a redneck. . . " joke in there somewhere.

First Day of School

All three kids started school today so we had to take a picture. The twins only go until 12 on Tues & Thurs and Cayden is trying to talk me into 12:30 so he doesn't have to take a nap- the worst part of school for him! Hopefully all went well on the kids first day and the school's first day to have a one year old class. Cooper seemed a bit concerned with why so many people she did not know were in her classroom last night at meet the teacher night. Cutter didn't seem to care much about anything! Cayden was just excited about his new Superman lunch box.

FAMILY VACATION 2006

Our "family vacation" this year was a two day trip to Sea World. Back in the spring we bought season passes and used them once! I guess due to chaos at home (three kids) and gas prices we never made it back. Tori wanted to go with Cayden some time so we all went. It was about 106 degrees in San Antonio on the day we decided to go. It was hot but not miserable. The park was the most empty I think I have ever seen it. It was great. I can also honestly say the kids were wonderful! It was a really fun day- so much fun that we took the kids back the next day to the water park. Except for Cayden being too short to go down any of the water slides, it was another great day. The kids loved the water. We did the kiddy water part, the wave pool, a smaller water slide, and floated in the river.
This is a family shot we got while at Sea World. In case you have not been there they have the Clydesdale horses because they are an Anheuser-Busch theme park. By looking at this picture you may think it was at the end of the day and we were all hot, exhausted and ready to go home but this was the first attraction we saw!!!
So, if you want to go to Sea World with the Meyer clan, let us know- we have passes!

CLOSE!!

Third time's a charm- I hope. This was from photo shoot #2. Those of you that know me well know that I am a bit of a perfectionist. (Those that live with me know this quality all too well.) I do like this picture but it is not the image that I envision hanging in my living room almost life size! It is a fun picture though so I thought I'd share it with all of you out there with too much time on your hands that happen to be reading this right now!
In the past year I have learned that being the mom of three kids is a lot of hard work but such a blessing. I have also learned that having three kids means we may not get a great family picture until one of them decides to get married! Until then I will continue trying and who knows- maybe we will get lucky.
___________________________________________
okay, after sleeping on it and a foot swap (cayden's foot moved and was blurred) this one is growing on me. maybe it's the thought of getting everyone dressed again in the 100 degree weather that makes me like it more.

Monday, August 07, 2006

Here is a pic of Cayden on a recent family photo shoot effort. We woke up last Saturday morning and went to Salado to try and capture some images of our kids. We failed to get the "perfect" picture of all the kids but were able to get some pretty good ones. We are determined to try again soon. Until then I'll post some of our pretty good ones.

Looking at this pic it is hard to believe that Cayden is well on his way to 5 years old. How fast can time possibly travel? He is a great kid and it is amazing to watch him grow and learn.

More pics coming soon.

Don't make her mad!

Here is a pic of Cooper she let me take this morning. She saw her big brother playing with these teeth so of course she had to give it a go. She actually liked having the teeth in and she thought she looked pretty cool. I have actually seen this look from her mother.

Week Of Fun!!!

While Scott was away some friends decided we would have a "week of fun." We did have lots of fun and toted kids all over the place. Our latest adventure took us to the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham where Barbara came to meet us. It was so great to see her again. I know the kids really miss her because they willingly gave her kisses goodbye.
The tour at Blue Bell was a little less than I had imagined but you do get a big bowl of ice cream at the end. Not too bad. We were probably more of a site to see than the machines that make ice cream because we were outnumbered 9 to 4- kids to adults!! (Thanks to Barbara who brought our numbers up to 5).
According to Sharon, who personally knows Miss America and got this information from her, July is national ice cream month. I hope all of you reading this can be half as supportive of "national ice cream month" as we have been and at least eat a big old bowl of Blue Bell. I highly recommend Cookies Cookies Cookies which has become one of my new favorites and Caramel Turtle Fudge which was my free bowl (with the price of admission) today on the tour.
What's your favorite??????

This is a pic from the archives. It was taken several months ago at a gathering of our small group from church. I am including it simply because it is one of my favorites. This is my wife and my son Cutter. Personally I think my wife is beautiful and my son handsome. For me this picture captures the spirit of both of them. Thought I would show you why I am one blessed guy.

HAPPY 4th of JULY

Happy 4th of July to you and your family. Erica took the kids to a small town 4th picnic and had a great time swimming, playing baseball, eating fried chicken and homemade ice-cream. They had a GREAT time.

I hope today finds you grateful for the blessings of the freedoms we enjoy. May God bless you today.

Cooper's First Pedicure

Those of you that know me well know that I am not a "girly girl." However, my friends have introduced me to the world of pedicures. A few years ago I wouldn't even wear sandals or flip flops. Now, that's about all I wear unless I am exercising in my free time-ha. So, about once every two months or so- only in the sandal months- I treat myself to a social pedicure (meaning I only go with a group of girls to visit).
The other day a few of us girls went to get a French pedicure. After a day or two they needed some repairs so we were doing some touch-ups in the church gym. Cooper really wanted in on the action and ended up with her two big toes paited white on the tips. For fun, I later finished the job. She acted like she really liked it. Now, I'm not into little girls with red toes because they are so cute natural but this is really pretty funny to see. (Cooper's the one on the left!)
So far our little girl is fairly well rounded. She is much more girly than her mother and probably a little more wild and crazy too. Lord help us!
(Also, we have not put a picture up yet because we don't really have one but Cooper's been walking for a few weeks now. She's not quite as quick as her brother but she's gaining on him.)

Good Sunday Morning to You

I hope this Sunday morning finds you in church, worshipping the God who loves you more than we can ask or imagine, surrounded by a group of people who are trying to love you the same way. If that is the case consider yourself very, very, very blessed.

And to those who are a part of the Western Hills family we are blessed to be a part of...Can't wait to see you in worship!

God Bless
Scott

Morning Sunshine!

Among my wife's many talents is a knack for gardening. This is her first year to have a garden here in Temple. This year's harvest consists of squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and tomatoes we are still waiting on.

To teach Cayden how something grows from a small seed she planted sunflowers. The one in the picture now stands more than 12 feet tall! Impressive object lesson.

Thanks Dad

In honor of Father's day my dad, mom and brother came to Temple. They joined us a for worship at church and then mom had prepared Sunday lunch. It was a very nice time sitting around the kitchen table visiting and sharing. It was good to be with my dad on Father's Day. I have been blessed to have a dad who has always been there for me.

It was also wonderful to be with my kids on Father's day. Not that I am not with them almost everyday but for some reason this day I took a little extra time to reflect how blessed I am. So on this Father's day I say thanks to my dad and my heavenly father!

Ooooohhhh, That Must've Hurt

Cooper's response to Cutter's black eye.
Actually I was trying to get a picture of the eye while they were eating breakfast. Cooper was feeling a little neglected because I was only taking pictures of Cutter so I turned the camera on her and she began to pose as usual. Never a dull moment at the Meyer house!

WANTED! (kinda looks like a mug shot, huh?)

You should see the other kid!
Cutter got his first black eye this week- one of the hazards of walking. He was trying to be very helpful and was walking with a little broom. He tripped on the broom and came down on a toy right on his cheek bone. He immediately had a black and blue knot. It was obvious that by the next day he would have a black eye and here it is! We think it makes him look tough!

HE DID IT!!!

Cutter decided to walk today in the church gym. Luckily, we had the camera out for something else and Amy started clicking pictures. I have no idea how many steps he took because he just kept coming as I scooted backwards in the chair. He had lots of witnesses
and a huge cheering section with all the moms in the gym.
YEA CUTTER!!! (the fun begins)

BRAINS & BEAUTY???

A child prodigy and a beauty queen? (Maybe an athlete. She is holding a ball!) I can honestly say that none of us wrote "Cutter" with the chalk.

Hoo-Hah

Much thanks to Sharon Jean and her "Crazy Aunt Winno" for giving some overworked and underpaid moms a much needed break. I think the San Marcos economy boomed this past weekend as we poured money into the outlet malls. We did, however, get some great deals. We also talked much, laughed a lot, and stayed up way too late!
It doesn't get any better than this!
Also, the dads did a great job on the home front. Everybody made it to church-and most were on time or early!
(Seems to have been some type of competition or something.)
Thanks, Scooter for the break.

"The Girls" just wanted to say hi! We sure miss our water boy on our Tues/Thurs walk.

For James II

Cayden with one of his 50 + fish and the twins with Mr. & Mrs. Phillips in Sulphur Springs, Tx. They have such a neat little get away out by the lake. Unfortunately, Cooper cut a tooth, Cutter had a stomach virus, and Cayden was four!

For James

The gang's all here. We had a great time Easter Sunday after church at Sharon Jean's house. She hosted the first annual Phillips Easter Sunday Lunch and Egg Hunt out by the lake. We had lots of food and lots of kids to hunt eggs. It was hot, humid, and the mosquitos ate good too.
If you don't have anywhere to go next year and you're lucky maybe you will get the invite also! (of course everyone is expected to bring a side dish!)
*look real close at Cooper swiping candy from Landon!

Opening Day 2006!

That's right sports fans the boys of summer are back. This time there are 2 new marquis players...Cayden Meyer & Hayden Koch. Both boys were picked up by the Temple Braves. The scouts (namely the moms) were able to work out some last minute deals to allow these two to continue playing together. We will keep our eyes on these guys. We expect to see them in the playoffs.

Super Friends!

I have uploaded this pic before, but due to a technical glitch it was dropped from the blog. So for your enjoyment here is the dynamic duo of Hayden & Cayden. Hope you have a great day!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY TWINKIES

We can't believe it has been one year since Cooper and Cutter came into our lives. It has been a busy, stressful, fun & exciting year. We wouldn't trade it for the world! It is amazing to watch a new baby grow and develop but there is something really special about watching two at the same time. Cooper and Cutter couldn't be more different in personality but we are blessed that both of them are fun loving and eager to smile and laugh.
Their birthday was a typical day around our house. I changed about 5 dirty diapers, they ate, slept, had a bath, and went to church. Nothing too out of the ordinary. We did let them eat some birthday cake with our church family before they went to Bible class. It was the neatest both of them have ever eaten anything!
Year two should be even more exciting with things like walking and talking in their future.
Thanks to all of you that have been a huge part of their short lives!

This Spring Break was "celebrated" with a trip to Sea World in San Antonio. We took the whole fam, loaded into the SUV and headed south. Going with us was our good friends the Kochs. Together we totaled 4 adults and 6 kids. This is what I call extra credit parenting. The park was PACKED! (Was anybody @ Six Flags or was everyone at SeaWorld?) We took in all the shows, though Cutter and Cooper did not seem too impressed with Shamu. On the positive side it was a cool day (we actually wore sweatshirts) and the kids had a blast. Hope your spring break was a great one!

Turning a Page..

I turned 35 today...it is hard to remember where all of the time has gone. Suddenly mid-30's seems YOUNG! The last year of my life has been a blur...Last year I was 34, a youth minister and the dad of 1 not 3. It seems appropriate to reflect for a moment on the blessings of my 3.5 decades of life...

Erica - I love you.
Cayden
Cutter
Cooper
Strong, stable family growing up (thanks mom & dad)
Never worrying about whether or not I was going to eat or be warm (thanks again mom & dad)
Great church family (each & every place I have lived)
Working with the best staff
Serving great elders
Living in great community

All in all life is GREAT.

Thanks be to God. He has been doubly good to me.
Scott

Jumbo-Tron Here We Come

If we went to a Spurs game they would make the jumbo-tron don't you think??
Thanks to Amy for making sure Cooper is also outfitted in Spurs attire also. (I just hope she likes playing the game more than cheering for it!)
Tori, eat your heart out.
By the way, does anybody have three tickets to a Spurs game?

Good Morning!

Life with twins is full of special surprises. One recent morning I walked in their room to discover what you see in the picture. Both babies standing and "talking" to each other. They look like 2 country neighbors who met at the fence to share the latest gossip. Being the parents of twins is a LOT of HARD WORK. But Erica and I would not change it for the world. It is hard to believe Cutter and Cooper are almost 1 year old. What a year it has been!

COOPER GIRL

I had a request from Tori to get a picture of Cooper on here. Now, she did request one of her in her Spurs cheerleading outfit but I don't have a cute one of her in it- yet! So, I hope this one is okay for the time being. I will work on getting one of everybody supporting the home team soon.

GO SPURS GO!

Has basketball season started this year? I haven't had time to notice. I grew up in San Antonio and have always been a Spurs fan- through the bad years and more recently through the good years. Cayden is a die hard "T. Duncan" fan and he is bringing his little brother along with him. Cayden has several Spurs sweatshirts but recently got a wind suit for his birthday from his Aunt Angelia. Now, when Cayden wears his Spurs wind suit Cutter has to wear his also. (Cooper, affectionately known as "Juicy Face" does not have any Spurs outfits so she just wears a black shirt and a Spurs bib to help with her problem.) How great would it be if basketball was something that these two boys, and their little sister, could enjoy together as they grow up. (Their mom would be thrilled!!!)
GO SPURS GO!!!
