Fall Activites

As we finished up roofing and preparing for windows we had a week full of regular activities. Britton is also resumed traveling for work assignments and has been going to Las Vegas again for a new project out there.
Celebrated Grandpa's Birthday, so grateful for all of his help with this addition project this year, always donating any free time he has which is precious with his Bishop schedule right now. And thankful to Grandma for sharing him and helping with all the behind the things, helping keep our house in order and moderating all the stress of making design decisons.

Spirit week, lots of activities the week before homecoming, crazy hair day was everyone's favorite a Ying Yang head for Conway, letter E braid fro Elle, and lighting bolts for Wyatt.

Homecoming parade, it was just Ryker and me on the curb, as Wyatt rode the float with the Extreme football team which he is really loving! First game was a hoot, whatching little football players trying to pull flags, Wyatt plays center and did a great job.

Elle and Conway walked with the Chamisa Elementary Banner and were bought their own bag of candy at the end of the parade since they didn't get to collect any along the route.

The next day we were able to go to Cross Country meet outside of Santa Fe and watch Aleeya and Lydia run! They are amazing they have worked so hard training and ran a great race! Getting 5th and 10th! Loved seeing them and cheering them on.

Phase 9

Roofing involved putting sheeting along the trusses with tar paper and then getting an inspection on all the sheeting and tape done. Then we could add metal to the roof, we decide with a second story roof we wanted to be a one and done project don't want to have to get up their on a regular basis if ever. Conway was recruited to be Britton's second on the roof, which he was a little nervous about but Britton got him all set up with climbing gear and tied in to the trusses so there was no way they could fall off. I was super grateful that we were able to finish it all this with no injuries! A huge blessing!

One afternoon Elle and I got the second story all cleaned up for a family dance party, we all had fun taking turns two stepping and swinging around our new floor. Pretty soon there will be walls up to make the boys 2 rooms and a bathroom, but for now it is a great dance floor.

Ryker misses them terribly but we are adjusting.

Roofing Trusses Phase 7

With all the walls up and header boards on we can add the roof trusses. Some good friends to the rescue again. 4 more friends, okay 3 friends and Westley who we use and abuse for all the heavy lifting needs of the this project, so grateful for him.

Did not get the action shots, but a broom was involved and lots of tip toes trying to hold it in place Westley would nail down one end and Britton would attached them in the center and got thme all in place in under 2 hours! Yes!

Now to get all the sheeting up and nailed so we can get an inspection done.

Phase 4b and 5b

The second story framing and sheeting Britton got the idea to attach the sheeting and installation to the boards on the ground ( or second floor floor)so we wouldn't have to hang the sheeting from a ladder on the outside. It worked great, but made the walls super heavy. Call the crew again

We had a CREW! 8 men and one of my  Young Women! They lifted and slid two heavy walls in to place. They were so awesome to help with our barn raising, 7 brothers for 7 brides was mentioned but no singing or dancing was done

Got both the longer side walls up and done and braced in no time. Thanks Britton for getting everything framed and covered.

The next day we built the outside wall and lifted with half the crew we did before. Thanks Hannah and Cooper for your help. true it hadthe biggest window whole and we left a lot of the corner pieces of the sheeting

The last wall Britton and the kids lifted, Didnt have the over hang piece and again left off a corner pieces of the sheeting.

It is looking like a house! It is fun to watch all the foot traffic slow down walking past our house to see what we working on next, we will have to have an open house to show all the neighborhood our project.

Phase 6 Decking second story

This is job I felt like I could help with, Britton would lift the ridiculous heavy sheeting up the stairs and glue it then I could come behind and add the screws every 6 and 12 inches across the whole board. It was super fun to see the new square footage really coming together. Elle was my best side kick screwing in screws along with me. Love that girl! Here is the boys checking in on us.

A side note. We always thought dogs were not into stairs, growing up with the a couple of dogs that would never hang out upstairs at my parents house i just assumed all dogs didn't do stairs. Pepper is fearless, she didnt stop at the stairs, she would go all the way to existing house roof and reign queem supreme over the whole neighborhood! We got so many phone calls from concerned neighbors watching her romp across the roof barking at them. I think she did jump once and chased down a runner but after doing it once she learned her lesson and didn't jump again but after the 20th phone call we were ready to get some walls up. Especially after she taught her friend Wrigley her ways.

Phase 8 interior walls skipped some steps

We misordered the number of floor joists we needed and had to get 2 more to finish for the second story. To get that ordered and delivered was going to take a couple weeks. So in order to not waste a weekend. we decided to order some 2x 4's and do some interior walls in the first floor.

My own closet! The bathroom, a double sink space giant shower! Making final decision on is the wall next to the toilet going to be a full wall? pony wall? Britton' s closet under the stairs is going to be great for storing everything he has.  This is a shot from the bedroom in the existing house when the rain was coming down the stairs in a waterfall.

And my favorite people form Texas came to visit. So we got to hang out with them a little too. the Beards were here for an Asay family reunion

Phase 5 sheeting and Phase 6 floor joists

After our lake Powell trip and a couple weekends away from the house we got the floor joists and sheeting on the first story frame attached this weekend. Next step the stairs.

Tooke advantage some extra days around July 4th and knocked out the stairs on the Monday Holiday.
Danielle did her sisterly duty and got handy with the screwdriver attaching the decking to each stair.
I love my family so much! we have received so much labor in love for this project!

Lake Powell 2021

 Heaven on Earth

We loved having the Bingham's' for part of the week. Cooper, Hannah and baby Harvey were crowd favorites and our faithful lake powell family Mom and Dad and the Johns made for another perfect week on the lake. Minus Harvey's emeergency trip to get stitches at urgnet care for a accident with a fan but we was a trooper and played hard for the rest of the trip.

All the adults tried wake surfing for the first time on the Bingham's boat and loved it.

The kids did lots of tubing, swimming and playing. There is nothing better.

super fun sand to dig and play in and the girls loved the new paddle boards

Conway was in charge of the jetski during docking times out on the lake, he collected a few passangers this round.

Wake surfvign took a few attempts but eventually got up and loved every minute of it, okay one minute of it.

100+ degrees we all loved cooling off in the water
Ryker was not convinced until he finally figured out the lifejacket and then he was always ready to swim with the crowd

got a little exploring and cliff jumping in the second to last day. Even found the perfect Ryker size jumping rock

Grandpa and grandma did the kids favorite pirate teasure hunt and everyone helped catch some fish.

The last day and the worst day at the lake we got everything packed up and cleaned up, Lacey and i took the kids to McDonalds for lunch. 6 kids one truck and a jet ski, felt pretty accomplished after that.

Phase 4 framing

Concrete laid and lumber delivered spent a Saturday  June5th framing the first floor. Didn't have a working nail gun yet so they framed it all by hand. Dad Westley and Britton with supervisor Wyatt passing out the nails. It worked out since the concrete connections had to be a special galvanized nail, but went and bought a new nail gun the next week.

Three walls done in one day it was super exciting to make it all seem so real.
Could not have done so much in one day with out Westley and Dad we will be owing them both big time at the end of this project.
Sure do love our Construction Manager 😏
