Really long time nv blog liao...
Guess it's time to get a new one...
Holidays are not that interesting for me... I did not go anywhere out of JB and Singapore...
Well there's a few things that happened which "de-boredom-ised" my holidays .
I met Tan Siang Yu and his family in Jusco.
I went to watch "The Bee Movie" with my mother's friend.
I attended the primary sch class reunion and watched "The Golden Compass" and went to Red Box in Jusco.
I went to watch another movie in Jusco with my mother's friend ("Enchanted") on Christmas Eve.
I went to Kukup and Tanjung Piai during Christmas and ate seafood there.
Well I went to Tanjung Piai one but it was a few years back and it had changed quite a bit:
The spot which was to be the "Southernmost point of Mainland Asia" (not Sentosa) was extended outside to the sea and there was a fishing pier now.
I shot a couple of photos of some monkeys living in the magroves (in case u dunno, tanjung piai got lots of mangroves one...)
I don't have the photos with me but there is one photo where there are 4 monkeys in it: 1 big one lying on the floor, and in front of it a monkey helping a monkey, who's helping another mokey showing a "pose" search for ticks, search for ticks. (do u get it? hope that u understand)
Anyway, cheers for the 2008!

I Spent 2 Meaninful Days...
Because the days before the aforementioned 2 days (saturday & sunday) were spent unmeaningfully: watchging tv, playing com games, stuffing meself with food, napping, etc etc and not forgetting waiting for the internet to get connected (the internet was disconnected a lot of times during the rain...)
How did you spend the 2 days meaningfully?
Day 1 Saturday:
I went for my piano lesson and later went to Singapore to attend the JC Band concert.
And I met Zhi Hao in the dining hall.
Then why is this day meaningful?
Because the JC Band concert was nice, not because i met Zhi Hao. haha. lame...
The JC Band was a very good band. Excellent in fact, when compared to the high sch band as the hsband's standard has been dropping due to some attitude sec 1s...
The JC Band's concert was worth a trip to Singapore as you can really get a taste and feel of what a good band sounds like.
Day 2 Sunday:
What happened on this day came as a surprise to me actually because my old friends from primary sch have contacted me and asked me out for a class gathering in Jusco.
I knew about this on Saturday night when I came back from Singapore, and my mother told me about xian zhe calling in to ask if we can make it to the gathering.
On Sunday, we met first at Harris and wow! They have sure changed. (hairstlye, i mean)
The girls have absolutely different hairstyles than what i remembered. Maybe it's the holidays and they wanted to try a new look... Some have their hair just left long and 1 of them curled her hair (she looks very auntie) and another had a wierd stlye which i dunno how to describe...
The boys don't look much different except for their "cooler" hairstyles and a taller body.
Anyway, we chatted and went to watch a movie. We watched "The Golden Compass" because that's the only attractive and watchable movie we havn't watched yet ("the Heartbreak Kid" was R21)
After that we went to RedBox and that costed me RM25. I listened only to them sing the pop songs I don't hear often and ate and drank and teased Shing Nee, who perpetually annoyed me.
Chances to meet the old friends from primary school was quite rare, as we study in different countries now.
Just hope the best for all of us! Cheers*
Q: Birds form a "V" shape when flying in the sky. Why is 1 side of the "V" longer than the other side?
A: Because there are more birds on that side...

Re: National Brass Competition
From: Melissa Lai-Choo Siew Gek 01-12-07
To: CCA School Band
Hi guys,
6 boys took part in the above competition and did us proud! They
scored 84 points, which makes us 1ST PLACE!! I will announce to sch
once I get the official results...but congrats to the boys, great job!!
Attached is their performance video...sad to say resolution is
pretty poor...well, in the first place my cam not that great,
somemore the original file size is very large so I had to re-encode
it to something much smaller so u can download...so of coz quality
gone case...still, u can hav fun figuring who's who...:)
By the way, i think the black shirt and bright color tie looks very
nice and smart, how about using that as indoor performance attire
next year? your comments in the response box...:)
Oh yes, reminder- Monday reporting time: 9 am SHARP! Don't be late
for exam...:)
Mrs Lai
====================================================
Haha! Just read the first paragraph and you'll know why I'm happy!
The rest is just an example of how Mrs Lai's post sound like: informal and interesting and catchy...
On that day, we went to sch at 11+ to warmup and prepare for the competition.]
Around 3 am (we had to report at 3.29am as we are performing at 3.57am), we took off to YMS (Young Musician's Society) which is near Sim Lim Square.
I took Darence Leng (my conductor) 's car with 3 others while the rest, including 2 seniors, took mrs lai's car
Mrs Lai's car is a light-blue nissan dunno-what which is kind of cute, and leng said that the colour is girly and so is the car
There are tons od plush toys in mrs lai's car and he used 3 "bears" to be cushions for the instrument in the boot
"Boohoo," said mrs lai
"U very zabo leh, so many dolls," said leng
"Haha," said us
"lame..." says u
We arrived and went to warmup shortly after, and while waiting to warmup we ate mars bars (i ate half a mars bar)
We tuned and did the starting... so nervous are we...
Then someone come in and tell us to get out cuz we will be performing.
So we got out and walked down the stairs (we walked up the stairs to warmup) and entered the auditorium, which is around a quarter the size if our school's audi...
We got up the stage and moved the chairs back and moved the stands up front and completely ignored the seating plan arranged for us (the audience may think that we siao) cuz we need to do some choreography.
So we started (some audience beneath frowned because mebbe the starting wasn't that good) and we played (some of the audience smiled as they recognised the melody we're playing and they moved to the rhythm) and the audience seemed to be impressed by our playing.
After that we left...
Leng treated us to McDonalds and while eating, a senior which accompanied us to the competition and gave us support called Leng...
And WE GOT FIRST! YAY!
Guess that we won not because we were very good, but the other teams were lousy... haha...
This is a quote found by a participant who's also a blogger (blog address http://breathesodeep.blogspot.com/) : "Haha, you can say that we were owned by Hwa Chong Institution Brass Sextet."
What a joy reading that sentence. I can feel the pride in me man!
Anyway, cheers*
ps. the gift for 1st prize is a $300 voucher to a music shop i dunno where...

You may be familiar with this...
I don't mean this post to be racist or nationalist. But I really think that something about Malaysian politics can be polished up to serve the countrymen well.
I'm sure that most, or rather all of you are awarer of the 2 recent riots happening at KL.
The first riot, held on 10 Nov, demand fair elections.
There are a few reasons for this to happen: ( i quoted the followings from http://www.ipsnews.net/print.asp?idnews=40006)
‘‘It’s a show of strength about the unhappiness about the state of governance... the racialism, the corruption, the state of the judiciary and the threats to arrest people,’’ said women’s rights activist Cecilia Ng.
Many are also finding the rising cost of living, including higher food and fuel prices, tough to bear. ‘‘It is because the Barisan Nasional (ruling coalition) government does not want the people of Malaysia to witness how upset and unhappy many Malaysians are … that is the sole reason that they had brought in their mighty strength represented by the police and the FRU with the sole purpose of disrupting the gathering,’’ said P. Ramakrishnan, president of the country’s oldest human rights group, ‘Aliran’.
‘‘What took place today was a peaceful, democratic and legitimate exercise undertaken by concerned Malaysians to seek a remedy for our tainted, lopsided elections.’’ The truth is that there has never been equal opportunity to fight clean and fair in the general elections, which the ruling United Malays National Organisation has always won since Independence, he pointed out. ‘‘It has been always tilted in favour of the Barisan Nasional, which abuses state facilities and state coffers to entice the electorate -- and that must be seen by any impartial observer as clearly constituting corruption.’’
While the riots are going on, what the govt was concerned was how the image of the country was being smeared, not about what caused the country's image to be smeared, and thinking of ways to solve this problem.
Well, there's also another riot in KL, which is by Malaysian Indians, demanding racial equalities.
From what they demand, we can see that they don't think that races were treated equally in Malaysia.
Indians were brought from India to work in Malaysia during the British rule, therefore the M'sia Indians, who were demanding equal rights, even wrote a banner flashing the text "Queen save Malaysian Indians".
The "Bumiputra policy" has been not well-liked by certain people and it is somewhat regarded by some as a policy which treats different races inequally...
Under this policy, Bumiputra-reserved houses can only be bought by Bumiputras, unless after a certain time, and the house hasn't been sold, it can then be bought by non-Bumiputras.
Talking about houses, there seem to be too much houses built but not sold in JB. Therefore land is wasted and kosong houses can be seen which were small but expensive. (like what can be seen near my house)
Dr Mahathir, who started this 新经济政策, was sometimes 比喻-ed as the "Tongkat of the Malays", because he funded for the Malays to do in businesses and other sectors to help them make money.
I learnt about this in Primary School when the chapter we were studying in our Chinese textbook was about Yap Ah Loy, who was responsible for the development of Kuala Lumpur as a commercial and mining centre in the middle of the 1800s. Therefore, there is a street named after him.
My teacher said that quite a number of streets in Malaysia, which were originally Chinese-named, were made to be Malay-named by the government (although existence of some of the named-after were not comfirmed), to show the superiority of the race... There may also be Indian-named streets which were also renamed to Malay-named, but I'm not sure...
Under the 2008 财政预算案, there are certain percentages of certain companies' workforce and management which must be Malays, maybe so that Malays can have a good job and a source of incoming cash (i would not say income).
Talking about money and cash, the "duit kopi policy" is something known by most Malaysians to solve certain traffic problems.
I need not elaborate on this as you'll know what is it even if i don't say this (refer to Negarakuku if u dunno what's diut kopi)...
Cheers! *bah

Hey, BrownBrown!
My dog, as you may have read in BX's posting, is named Brownbrown (just bcus she's brown in colour and we don't know what name to give her...)
Here's some pics which are taken by an amatuer handphone-photographer: ME!

Woof! Can I get some food pleasse?
boofoo... i'm scared of rain...
Isn't she cute? Actually, she's the 爱情结晶 of a dog who kena 走水...
Here's a story of this pup:
Brownbrown was born on 7th of May, or Labour's Day Eve, if I'm not wrong... Because she got herself out of her mum's womb during Monday of our Term 2 Sabbatical week or the week before that, I can't rmb.
She has 3 more siblings: a brown sister/brother, a black brother and another black sister.
It seems that her brown sister/brother was the eldest because it was the biggest size when they were born. (according to my mom cuz they were born in m'sia n i was in s'pore)
But the mama dog (who was called "Dolce" -- "sweet" in Italian) accidentally sat on the poor thing and it became a lifeless, breathless (literally) poor pup...
A month later, they became cute little puppies learning to walk...
The biggest one of them, a female black pup was the fastest to start running (albeit falling down a lot of times...). However, it slipped and dropped into the fishpond in our house and met it's fate...
Now, we have gave away the black male (which appears to be the younger brother of Brownbrown) away to my mom's student, who have named him "Bobby".
Now, brownbrown lives in my house (as in in the house compound, cuz we don't let dogs into our house).
She likes to eat, but has recently grown tired of eating dog biscuits. She still loves rice and prefers meat over bones...
She may seem harmless, but can be restless sometimes. She may also seem restless, but can be harmless sometimes...
Oh, she often licks my hands (i dunno if she will lick ur's), and also jump up on me, clawing my thighs and hands...
The timid-looking pup might bark a lot if strangers who are not-as-fond-of-dogs come visiting, but she can also be a friend to dog-lovers, similar to her mom's character.
Well, if you just happen to pass by Taman Molek, Johor Bahru, why not drop in and visit my dog?
Cheers* WOOF!

The Hols...
Anyway, some news...
Chan-Lim cut her hair short...
My Pokemon Pearl was a success... (battled the Elite4 and b4 that caught a serious-natured Palkia) I got Infernape, Staraptor, Luxray, Roserade, Floatzel and Lucario. And they were strong!
I am starting on a new Diamond game, and I chose Turtwig as my starter. I normally don't repeat using same pokemon, therefore I wished to use a Honchkrow as the flying pokemon. But I caught an Adamant-natured Starly, so it's Staraptor again as the Fly-er. I used Luxray again cuz he was strong and I can't find any other electric pokemon to replace this guy. Raichu's fine but the base stats for it's attack is only 90, compared to Luxray's 120, same as Starapror. Torterra (or "TORTY" -- the nickname) is ground and grass and quite strong with a 100+ attack base stats. I planned using Gyarados as the water pokemon as the Diamond&Pearl series has transformed it to be a sweeper as water attacks may not neccesserily be Sp Attacks. It has base attack stats 125 (wow!), but Magikarp is a nightmare... Lucario is unavoidable if you choose not to go to Iron Island. But I chose to go there as Lucario is very strong, with Attack base stats 110 and Sp Attack base stats 115. I can't seem to find the sixth pokemon, but am planning to use Rampardos, the physical sweeper with attack base stats 165(!).
Bah, I babbled so much about this for what? Dunno...
Anyway, in 1st Dec, there is a "1st National Trumpet Solo and Brass Ensemble Competition", which i took part in, and now, it's quite hard to balance practicing this in Singapore and practicing piano in Malaysia (I'm doing Grade 8 next year). There's also indoor band prac for the exchange with CCK Sec next week and also outdoor band prac for next year's SYF. And there is also violin practices. And not forgetting games to play, there's already so many things to do in the hols, even excluding revising for next year's Sec 3.
Hope that everyone has a goof, i mean good holiday! Cheers*

Books
Anyway, I was buying books this morning, or just now, at Lisheng. Spent $185.20 on 2 persons' books (me and BX). And guess what, Nick Yeo was helping out at the bookshop, doing the buttons, and stapling the badge and 4 buttons together as a set. I asked him if he was wanting to earn some CIP, but turned out that he was earning cash instead...
If I were a Singaporean, maybe I may do that also: help at the bookshop, earn money... Although there's no air-con, but who cares? The fan is already very cool and can listen to radio...
There were books which are unavailable and we cannot borrow from our seniors second-hand books as the Sec 3s next year will be having a new syllabus and books are different.
nEway, cheers!
ps: Pundit's got a new blog! Pundit's got a new blog!

The handphone case
Anyway, my crystal case, which was bought from a handphone shop in Lucky Plaza, Orchard Road costed me 13 dollars (but BX paid $3 for me) after a discount. It was labelled $15. That's so expensive. I'm now in JB, and BX went to Carrefour to buy a crystal case. The one he bought was labelled at RM7, but the uncle sold it at RM6. What a good price, you may think, but we found out that another case sold at another shop was priced at RM5!
If I had bought the case later, I may have saved around RM20! *sob*

Holidays!
Good news to share: my MSG is 1.25! Although not so good as compared to others', but I'm quite satisfied with this as I have achieved the goal I set in the start of year! (maybe i predicted my MSG...) *crap*
Anyway, holidays are starting and it's slack, slack, slack except to practice the piano, and to go to band prac... Oh ya, the next year's SYF outdoor assesment will be held in our school. Just read melissa lai's SMB message...
Just now was tidying up the room and packing all the stuff. It took around 4 hours to clear the cupboards, the shelves, the drawers and the tables off all things.
Wish everyone Happy Hols! *Cheers!

The Birthday
Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday to me~...
Happy Birthday to me!
Well, that should be for yesterday. But I was slacking in my room and did not bother to blog on this special day.
I got a birthday present from my parents! A NOKIA 6120 3.5G phone! Haha, it's cool and has many functions but I do not know how to use it. And I found out where the ringtone file is only after around 30 hours with the phone... *crap* Anyway, it's beautiful and I like it very much. The games are nice to play. (at least better than the only game, puzzle, in my old phone). Actually, the phone was meant to replace my old phone, which on/off key is spoilt, and it happened to be changed a day before my birthday, so my parents said that it's my birthday present.
As mentioned earlier, the old phone's on/off key was spoilt, and I did not save my contacts into the SIM card, so I need to retype all the contacts back into the phone. Thanks goodness that my brother's phone's contacts are mostly the same as mine (just that he doesn't have the numbers of certain band members), so I do not need to ask everyone for their contacts.
Yesterday and today was FOSH. We had a talk yesterday about drugs. The speaker from SNB apart from lecturing us on the appearance and effects of certain kinds of drugs, showed us a clip and some pictures of caning. Those ignorant people just laughed at the scars on the butts of the "canees": they think that it was fun. I wonder if they were mental or what. When I was in P6, the JB's jail was closing so it was open to the public, and I went there with my schools "rombongan". One of the programmes there include watching a real-life caning video. The buttocks of those being-caned were whipped until the buttocks appear 血肉模糊 and it wasn't fun at all to watch. Guess that the video we watched at the talk was in an auditorium, not in a prison, and the video wasn't real-life. It showed an actor just gripping tightly to the stand and appearing in pain. Maybe the first impression given was different so the thinkings were also different. Fancy about talking about whipped bottoms on my birthday. *shudder*
It was raining so we slacked around the basketball court doing nothing, and later went to see Run Xian being screwed at table tennis at the place where we had our Term 4 Chinese class test. We tried to look for YapHB to get our Geog exam paper, but did not know where to find her. We received the paper during evening when Han Loong brought it back to the Boarding School for us. Bo Xiang got 41.5/50 and he had a "good" written on his paper. I got 43/50, higher than him, but she did not write "good" on my paper. Maybe it's because I used 11 pages to write my answers as I used a page for each question, and YapHB thought that it wasn't "Geographical" to waste that much paper...
Never mind that. I think I got an A2 for my IH and English for this year. Not bad. For other subjects, I got A2 for Literature and A1 for the others, if my memory doesn't fail me. That makes my MSG 1.375. YaY!
Today's FOSH started with us watching a DVD. I forgot what's the name but it's about a Jamaican forming the first Jamaican bobsleigh team. But we did not finish it as we had to go for bowling for the Scholar's Immersion Programme. Khang Chuen was damn pro. He scored 144 (if I'm not wrong) for the first round and he had a double strike and a turley but he went to buy food and waited in the queue so long that he asked us to play for him. That's why his total score isn't that good...
Today was spent scamming. There is a "human bingo" where we have to find people that match the description on a piece of paper. You can write any name you want and fake a signature that doesn't exist and you can give it to WangDK, who will give you a pen as a prize for finishin early. That's how I got a new pen. But I only faked a name... *haha* At the bowling sessions, hamyong's group let others play for them as they wanna slack. But their "impersonators" played so well that they earned a prize for the best group (with the highest score) from Wang.
Band practice was OK. I never touched my instrument for around 6 weeks and a simple scale played by me sounded out of tune very much. I cannot pitch properly some notes which I can before the CCA suspension for the exams. Guess that I need to practice very hard to get back to the standard before.
Anyway, wish me a HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! *cheers*

OBS. IT'S FUN!
On Wednesday morning, after the History paper check at 7am (I got 36/50 for the exam), we went to Punggo Jetty to take a boat to OBS @ Pulau Ubin. The people who were going to Camp2 went off first while we went later. The watch I was in is named Kurt, the founder of Outward Bound, and Faisal is our instructor. And he ROX!
1st day of OBS
We did the "trust fall", "lead the blindfolded", etc in the morning. These activities rely on our trust on our teammates to go on smoothly. In the afternoon, we climbed a wooden pole: a practice for rock climbing. These activities require ABCD: Assisstant belayer, Belayer, Climber, Dead weight. When I was climber, I did not "shioked" as much when falling as the belayer was not quite there and the rope was slack. Never mind that lah. Next we also pitched our "A-tents" which Faisal described as easiest to pitch. Our campsite faces the sea but was inside a jungle. The ground looked like it was dug around earlier, and it smells of shit. So the popular inference was that others who had camped here shitted here also. We also cooked our dinner by the sea. Rice was not bad if you like it watery. I and Zhihao cooked some corn & mushroom soup, which was quite nice. We didn't cook curry chicken as others already cooked it. It was nice. Supper was green bean soup. We went to sleep later.
2nd day of OBS
In the morning, we climbed a slab of the rock walls. We were told that OBS's seven-eleven is having a sale, and we will get discounted prices to buy our lunch: bread, buscuits, raisins, etc. Climbing one panel above the red line (which is 3 meters above ground) will earn us 10 dollars. I climbed twice. I completed the first time I tried to climb and earned $70, but I only deserve $50 for the 2nd climb. However, they recorded me to complete the climb and added $20 to my 2nd earning so as to get a $1700 as a whole watch. It tests our toughness in the mind and body as we also need a strong mind to climb to the top. In the afternoon, we have games like "touch the numbers in the acid pool", which requires us to touch with our left hand a ring of numbers unarranged in the shortest time possible, as we were competing with another watch, Bo Seng. We also need to do "mass rope jumping", which tests the whole watch's coordination, and "wood sleighs" which also tests the same thing. Before supper, we had a "solo night walk" which is to walk from deep inside the jungle back to Camp1. Although it's easy and not that challenging, we were given time to relax while walking in the dark. (to me, it did not test on my courage, which it should). Anyway, the night was bad as it rained in the day and the tent got very wet, but not as bad as other watches' tents, which collapsed due to rain and wind and possibly, a wild boar.
3rd day of OBS
We learnt to KAYAK! and we learnt to capsize... Noon was the time we should set off for our next campsite by kayaking (but fortunately not Camp2), but a Cat-1 rain made us go only around 4pm. Thanks to the tide, we got to the campsite at 5.30pm, which was surprisingly fast according to our instructors. Kayaking was the most fun as it was very "shiok"! Waves generated by certain ships also increased the "funness". While transporting the kayaks up the slopes, there were cooperating people and others of the opposite characters. Gek Fong raced with other Dhanabalanians to see if who can carry a 20-litre jerrycan to the campsite the fastest. While pitching our tents, the spastic Meng carried his torch high upon his head, as if giving us light in the dark to pitch our tents. But he was actually searching for birds in the sky! Damn pissed. He did nothing but to take advantages and criticise certain parts he didn't like. The natural environment of our campsite made us impossible to get access to fresh water, so we relied on our 3 jerrycans. We also cooked food, but only after we ate packets of uncooked maggie mee. We had sardines, mushrooms, ikan bilisses, mee, etc and it was tasty. We slept early after a "bedtime story" by Zhi Hao, which was a montage of Emily of Emerald Hill and a rape scene, which had no link at all. Here part of the story: Once upon a time, there was a bad boy named (what's your name?) (Marcus) The boy is called Marcus. One day, he went to a brothel and raped somebody. Let's describe the rape scene. SUSIE AH! EMILY HERE AH! This afternoon I'm going to town. Anything that you're needing?...
4th day of OBS
We trekked back to our campsite and we have to search for 3 checkpoints by only given a map, compass and map grid references. A checkpoint was near a junction, another was in Camp2 grounds and another was beside a grave, which was accessible by walking through a jungle in a small path away from the main route. We did 50 pumpings after arriving at our store, as we were late by ~6 minutes from our projected timing when trekking back from Camp2. We had a "discount" as we were supposed to do 20 push-ups per minute late. We packed up, cleared the store, and went to the souvenir shop, where I bought a black OBS T-shirt. We also got back our items taken away from the camp: money, wallet, handphones, etc. After receiving a handband, a pen and a cert, we took a ship back to Punggol.
OBS was generally challenging but fun, and I liked it a lot, partly because of our very good instructor. Cheers for Faisal and OBS!

The Paper Check
Start off with Eng Lit paper check. Laura Ng was trying her best to get our attention but failed. Don't know why but maybe she doesn't sound strict enough. She said that she's not standing on stage as "a source of [our] amusement". She sounded very pissed with us. Wanted us to shut up but they still keep talking. My Lit got 58/75. Quite a good mark, but not good enough, because my Lit must get 84.5/100 to get an A1, which is about 63-64/75! But get A1 also quite good already. At the start of year planned to achiev A2 in Lit, so OK lah. I scored 18/25 for LOTF, 21/25 for Uphill, 19/25 for EoEH. Quite a surprise to me as I expected Uphill to score badly.
Maths was very hard, according to them. But chee shuan got 70/80, big hole got 72 or 73 /80... Although exempted, I still went to class with them for the paper-checking. Rachel Chan said that this paper was recognised as very difficult, as difficult or more difficult than the GEP paper. So certain questions can get a bonus mark if the answer was found. This benefited a lot of students in fact.
After a meal of meatball noodles, it was the English paper check. But before that, played with Alla's pkmn Pearl on his NDS for a while. He got Luxray, Infernape, Starpator, Torterra, Palkia... Most of which can be found in my Pokemon team if I played the game. But I will play Diamond and has planned to use Infernape, Staraptor, Luxray, Roserade, Weavile, and Lucario.
Only went through the English Paper 2, and the result was 50/70. Tanyh was also quite pissed with certain people's behaviour which was "rude" and "rowdy". I got 15/25 for Comprehension, 21/25 for summary, 7/10 for correction of errors and 7/10 for cloze. Exam was 71.4/100. Hope to get high marks for Compo to get A1 for English.
Chiucc checked the HC paper 1 with 2ABCD. I got 17/20 for YYW. It came as a surprise as I have expected myself to write out of points during the briefing session. I scored 48/70 for ZW (JSW) quite OK. Shi-jie was praised for writing this question very well. It was a 65/90 for the whole of paper2. Later, after theother classes have left, we stayed to check paper 1. Quite glad to score 91/110 for the paper. Scored better than zhi hao. *pride*. HC exam score was 156/200, which is 78/100, which is 39/50. I think that I scored an overall A1 for Chinese this year.
The day at school ended just like that, but there are more to come: Malay paper-checking at 9pm in readers' haven HCIBS (just changed the time), History paper -checking at 7am tomorrow, and the dreaded OBS. Won't be checking the Geog paper cause Yaphb said that she will let the Sec4's help the OBSing Sec2's check their paper. Hope that can score high for IH.
That's all for today.
Signing off now! cheers for me!=)
ps. Will not be posting/blogging for the next few days because of the camp.
Paper-Checking Day (pre)
Now is 8.30 on the library com's clock.
We have thought that paper-checking started at 8am, so we planned to wake up at around 7. (ham yong wanted to wake up earlier because he wanted to bathe 3 times in the morning, but he never did it) At the dining hall, we met han loong and rui jie (who just came back from aussie). And found out that paper checking actually starts at NINE!
Just don't care, we came to class to look clearly at the paper-checking schedule. (only bian he was in class, sleeping on his book. diffusion, i guess) 9am is Lit paper-checking. Guess I did not do well. But hope I did. Paper-checking ends at 2.30 in school. Just knew from Xue Zheng (1st hand information) that MSP checking is at FIVE PM in Reader's Haven, HCIBS.
Yesterday just came back from JB. Hari Raya was fun. Spent the day slacking and playing with Brown Brown. *woof* At the HCIBS office yesterday to return paspot (the m'sian spelling), Ham Yong walked in. And we all applied leave using CY's OBS form.
Just hope that I have MSG of at most 1.7...
Signing off. Cheers!

Post Exam
For months, we have been mugging (or rather) for the sake of our one-week exams. Countless time has been spent (for mugging and slacking), brain juice has been squeezed, hundreds of sheets of foolscap papers have been used, files have been paistakingly kept tidy (during the day before the exams), revision files of microsft words have been created in the computer... And after the exams, there seemed to be nothing to do except eat, sleep, game... and NYAA!
I have not been blogging for the past few weeks because of exams. Not because exams used up my time, but I just can't think of anything to blog except to describe how is the situation of mugging like at that moment.
Now, I will describe the situation of exams...
We started off with HC paper 2 (compre). Mdm Chiu has told us to start doing 阅读与理解 2 because it hold 50 marks and it's better to focus on it first. She said that the seniors have been not able to finish the paper in time... But not for me. I finished it 15 minutes before the time ends! (although I am not the fastest to finish it) The 片断缩写 was super easy. I spent ~5 minutes to do it slowly. On the overall, the paper was not that hard, and I have confident that I would not score badly.
Next is the History paper. I spent painful weeks of mugging for this subject. But the paper, which is set by Paul Ho, has easy essays. The source-based questions are quite OK, but not that easy and MCQ took me just 2-3 minutes. Days of mugging for Rise and Fall of Imperial Japan was wasted as ONLY 1 question was set for the paper! I guess that was because Paul Ho only taught us 5 MINUTES in Term 4... lolz... (*oops there i go again)
Next morning, we had English paper 1. For the essay, I wrote: "Imagine you are a fly at the school canteen. Describe..." Well, I started of with "Bzzzt. I am a fly. I have..." Nice isn't it? quite straightforward. The formal writing was a witness account whereby we were supposed to see a boy behaving suspiciously near the computer terminal at the consortium room. We need to write an account to the head of consortium. The paper was just so-so, but I think that I have wrote a little out of point when I am a fly...
The next paper was Literature. I think that I quite screwed it up. The Section A was about Lord of the Flies. I did the source-based question, about the conflict between Jck and Ralph. OK but I think I put in too much narrative. Uphill was quite hard. I can't think of how can I get high marks for that... boohoo... Emily of Emerald Hill was an easy one. But I can't remember the question now... Maybe I may get B3 for Lit... ouch!
Wednesday was quite slack because I AM EXEMPTED FOR MATHS! (...chuan...) Played a little games and started mugging Geog. Heard from them that it was damn hard. Even they doubt shi-jie can do it in time nad accuracy.
Thursday was kicked off by HC paper 1 in the morning.
Next is the Geog exam. It doesn't quite depend on the knowledge you learnt from the textbooks. It tests your application of different theories, knowledge of the things you must learn. But it wasn't that bad either. THe questions were quite easy. I wrote 11 pages. "Say wow. WOW! hahaha" a quote from our class and the invigilator. She was late but very effective. All papers were arranged neatly in alternate stacks. So we just need to take a small stack consisting of the question booklet and 6 foolscaps. Interesting.
Next day, everyone was planning to go gaming after the paper: Eng paper 2 compre. The summary was quite difficult. more than 20 minutes were spent on editing. The results weren't satisfactory as I think that I wrote more than 160 words... T_T The other sections were quite hard as well.
When most Singaporeans were going back home, we went to LT2 for the MSP papers. The Paper 1 was as anticipated, with "Temasya Sukan" and "Perayaan". I wrote Tahun Baru Cina for the "perayaan". The 2nd paper was also easy. Tan Hui San said that we cannot possibly finish the paper early as it has banyak soalans. But the last half hour was spent slacking... Should go off earlier.
Well, that's all I have to say (or type about exams).
A blogging revolution has been sparked off in our class. Shi-jie just started a blog, Han Loong just started a blog, Zi Qian also started one, same with Eng Keat. Should I tell them that I also have one? Probably Yes.
Oh, Shi-jie has created 2B wallpapers with colour themes and a photo Mr Phan shoot with our class (because we were the best class that he had taught and he liked us). Too bad we didn't shoot one with Claire Wood. Or there may be another version of wallpapers.
I have just updated the "ME's blogging friends" list. A few of them are amatuer bloggers.
Signing off now. Cheers

2 weeks to exams

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
no mood leh...
Dunno why juz dont have the exam mood. chiucc early early oredy arrange us in exam sitting format, but still dun hav the mood... the subjects all havent prepare good good... teacher who instilled most exam mood is rachel chan, but high likeliness will be exempted for maths...
Chinese, still joking around in class: daniel n wei yao want OP
English, OK OK, tanyh juz gave us term 4 assgt to do...
Malay, still havent finish half the text book and its 2 weeks away from exams...
Lit, melissa ngo trying her best to make the "grouped discussions" sitting at the back of the class quiet. otherwise other "enthu-ers" move to the front to listen to her clearly...
Maths, rachel chan keep giving past-yr papers to do...
Science, no exams so quite slack...
History, no exam mood... joyce ling better cuz she set the paper for last yr's sec1, so she keep giving us hints. claire wood teach like still start of the year...
Geog, yaphb keep teaching old stuff, can elaborate on 1 point for half a lesson, so she teach very slow. sunita gives us a lot of points, so last year fotocopy ian's notes and mug... but this year not the same liao...
IS, php programing very hard, but lucky got no exam, just 3 terms of IS project...
juz hope to score hi hi in exams... cheers... sigh*

Well...
Today was consort assembly. Woohoo! 2B's results is top in Aphelion Sec2, 3rd in Sec2 cohort!
I dun believe it...
Well, maybe I do... XD
2B's class spirit may rank amongst the "top", almost whole class united to gang nick yeo...
This week's got not much interesting stuff. sian.
The PSB's new message proposes for a vegetarian stall to be set up.
Excellent idea!
Everyday go canteen with Shi-Jie see him buy food from purple plate jing ji fan stall the same menu. or maybe got a little bit diff only.
Poor thing, not much suitable food to eat.
Even veggies are fried with little bits n pieces of meat.
Got a new stall will be nice.
Sometimes the congestion in canteen will be (or maybe) reduced.
But on certain days will have no customer.
Now the canteen no place to have new stall.
PSB got replies want to kick out the chicken rice stall n muslim food stall.
Poor things they are:
not much customers (except when got many people go down canteen, cuz other stalls will get the customers first).
Juz hope that there will be a vegetarian food stall.
More VARIETIES!!! =)
Rachel Chan say hols band prac most probably will be on alternate days.
So mean no need live in bordin sch. Yeah!
On the other hand, BOO!
Rachel Chan say most probably got NO end-of-year concert.
Wish to have one, but she say may "dilute" the outdoor performance of the band if we do both outdoors n indoors.
Just hope to have one...
JUZ HOPE! JUZ HOPE!
"TODAY IS THE DAY FOR DECISIVE ACTION! OR IS IT?" a joke from yesterday's newpaper.
Cheers! =)

Drama @ 2B (yesterday)
here's another 1...
Yesterday's Chinese lesson, chiucc was scary. walk in then say we vr noisy. then ask chee shuan go out and bring his water bottle. she also ask nick yeo to go out with his.
u noe what? she want nick yeo to pour the water from his bottle to chee shuan's bottle and want chee shuan to drink the water. bcuz, chee shuan polluted nick yeo's water with his PEE! what a joke, chee shuan drinking his own pee!
she also ask nick yeo and wei yao to bring out both their pencil case. she want wei yao to clear the mess he done to nick yeo's stationary, and nick yeo to create a mess out of wei yao's stationary. the two pranksters of the class were screwed by her...
everybody hated nick yeo for complaining to the teacher, but its their own fault, how can they do that? but he was so despised...
the reason of the "despisal" of nick yeo is that he's easy to bully. his skin vr sensitive, a little bit of tickle, he would not wince, but would jump like hell. everytime he kena bullied he always vr noisy, and make a big fuss, big noise. bad for him: bullies get happy and more rowdy when they see their victims angry... sigh.
after sch we see han loong play chi chess on sch comp. pundit pull down skrin n on projector.
bad luck
TEOCM! she walked past our class, came in...
'who said you could play games with the sch's computer?'
'you think no class CMC around so you can play right?'
'you'd better switch off the computer and get out of this class right now!'
what the heck! being chased out of class juz bcuz we see our classmate play chi chess with the sch's com? its chinese chess, not what stupid game of football, or what lousy flash games? it is educational, good for the mind! hey, why m i speaking up for that panda? ..
later use comp, wanna check smb, then she walk past again. want us to go away. check smb also cannot, want us to go out.
'i told you to go out, why are you still at the computer?'
'is it so important that you need to check the smb now?'
'is it so important?'
'is it so important?'
'i'm asking you, is it so important?'
'you'd better check finish and get out right away!'
no wonder the seniors hate her.
her temper worse than teocc.
at least teocc is better.
haiz, lionel recently vr bad mood.
yesterday new flag raising formation, he kept niao-ing the current formation
'mr seow definitely will change this when he see it!'
'what crap is this?'
'why like this?'
'why like that?'
'so boring, should play that disco song...'
but others dunno the disco song, only he know and others who went for nco camp.
i think he liddat cuz he was not BM, so vr bad mood, dun like to be controlled by peers, only 服 if is senior or he control others. hai, stupid mindset. should learn to accept the fact.
hope he dun like that: dao keluar baris command, tell him not to play still play. if is others in the command, he obey. but giving command is his peers, definitely bue song lah...
this week was spent almost everyday sleeping in the aftn.
hop the lifestyle can be more interesting. cheers=)

the workshop. end of sept hols.
morn go to workshop in ACSI
ACSI IS NOT A SCH! the building tells u that u r in some sort of hospital or other. the field looks fake. the grass all same color, almost same length even! got staircase with glass walls, spiral staircases, blah blah blah, even got bridge link to carpark. so modern, not like sch, even their bodin sch like condo.
the workshop was crap. played warmups for 3 hours an thats goodbye. uber noobshit. then listen to yamamoto play trpt with piano accompaniment recorded in cd, played by radio. he played nice, unlike others. the other trumpeteers sux. cant even pitch hi C properly.
later then go their LT3 (size of our LT4) listen to woodwind quintet made of bassoon, horn, clarinet, flute n oboe. vr nice.
n thats all. cheers for the hols...
ps: must mug oredy, hols hw still havent finish!
Kulai Exchange Yesterday
kulai foon yew new building, opened 2005, yesterday was charity show of concert bands.
in kulai fy saw old friends: li wen, teddy bear (yong le), etc.
the ppl there vr friendly. we arrive early (~10am) cuz we come from jb, the others arrive ~11am cuz they come from sing.
the bus came then the fy ppl line up @ entrance, clap n welcome. so 温馨...
we go up bus then come down with them. haha. they also applauded for me. haha. haha. lame...
then they go up out instru again. they help me take indtru from potong pasir.
then tour around the sch.
first go to an LT, got teacher introduce them to us, darence leng tried in vain to speak chi, but can only squeek out "da-jia-hao" and some crap. haha.
later got go to the performance hall, near the football field, up the water tank.
nice view. can see a lot of palm trees. very windy also.
near the football field, we take photo with them. got take in sections n groups.
later got lunch, is family style:
they put dishes on the tables of their canteen-like foodcourt. i mean foodcourt-like canteen.
got pork, chicken, vege n ommelette. quite nice lah.
we tek instru n 交流 with them. we go to the hall.
play with them cowboy rhapsody. sight read, but quality still good.
the hall vr echoey, staccato sound like normal tongue, normal tongue sound like slur, slur sound like crap, crap sound even worse...
later we practis our pieces, quite nice. feels good to play in a good band. nice sound nice music nice everything. nice conductor also.
after rehearse then eat 茶点. nice
~4pm go back to change.
we got do warm up. the pyramid excercise quite fun. delete away som notes, so sound interesting. eg. C major scale delete 3rd note is play: C,CDC,CD DC,CD F DC,CD FGF DC,CD FGAGF DC,CD FGABAGF DC,CD FGABC`BAGF DC. fun rite?
the concert quite good. start with 24drums play 2 "tunes" (dunno what to call those? songs? rhythms? i think rhythm better...) then their brass quintet play spiderman.
after is the kulai fy band play 7 songs. quite alright, but rhythm sense not quite there.
the mc talk in 2 lang: chi n eng. i think bcuz got ppl from sing come, then scared they dun understand chi. what crap.
their eng mc talk very crap. loads n loads of grammatical errors n pronounciation probs.
eg. lets put our hands to-gay-ther for our datuk ling
give them some ay-plehs (applause)
what the hell.
after intermission then we play. our repetua: merry widow (booklet say "merry window" and got "merry widow maltz", supposed to be "waltz"), princess mononoke, medley of hokkien oldies (they pronounce "meed-lee of hok-kin old-dies"), pirate of the caribbean (they spell in the booklet "pirate", no "s"), titanic and saturday night fever (good thing they dont translate into "拜六晚上发烧").
our playing quite nice. they applaud very loud. happy =)
the concert went vr well (walter dropped his mute), just that they dun have encore. boohoo.
after that we had our dinner. exchange msn addresses with them.
we gave them sch badge. (section give section, so 3 of us give 8 of them)
dinner was nasi nanas, mee goreng, some fried tofu, fried chicken/pork n curry.
the girls even take water for us. so homely. they really know how to serve.
still got take photo again. grp n section also.
we went back @ ~9+pm. they sent us off.
at kastam there wait long long for them, cuz we just nid 2 flash paspot, sporeans still nid to chop here chop there (not use knife to chop, but is 盖印章 that chop). sing custom also fast. just show them card n can go liao.
officers saw mutes, dunno what's that, so say is put at trumpet there for sound effects.
come back bodin sch saw yaphb. she ask where we go, then say concert in kulai. string och? no, band. ur uniform? yes... oops, dunno if she'll leak out the secret? hope not...
BTW, very letih so come back finish packing out then sleep. nites!

Nonami's Workshop, swppcc prac again
well, nonami is humorous. he has a good way of introducing himself. his full name is mitsuo nonami (光雄 野波). he said that he has a few names. some call him nanomi, or no money (nomani), etc. he accepts all these names except "tsu nami".
he's not quite tall, and quite plump. he got a bit of white moustache. looks quite cute =)
he likes char kuey teow. always draw parallels to music.
eg. different types of music appeals differently to different types of audience. just like different stalls selling different types of char kuey teow appeals differently to different types of people. they all depend on the taste and liking of audience. (is that a quote?)
got learn a lot from him. some quotes (i rephrased some of them, cuz cannot rmb exact quotes):
- bring ourselves down to the same level as the audiences, to let them understand our music
- their (the audience's) happiness is our (the musicians') happiness
- must have an image of the music in ur head b4 u play
- fortes and pianos are not abt volume, but more on how u express the sound for the audience to feel
- there's no right and wrong to a sound. how nice it is depends on what the audience think.
- u use certain techniques to express better sound for audience to feel.
he really knows how to make audience feel good. great musician he is.
well, after the workshop, we clean outdoor bandroom, sambil do stock check. lionel do stock check, i help to clean. halfway, a-leng remind me n walter to take mutes for swppcc. forgot to take for luther... harmon mute a-leng got so no worry... we tidy bandroom and arrange tables and instru to neater position. got one big hole in center.
after that 12 hungry bandits and 1 poor old man go BTP (bukit timah plaza) pizza hut makan. got 6 people take his car (1 in front: liang sai, and 5 @back: me, bx, edwin, jason, walter... so squeezy...). in btp, wait 5 minits for the workers to arrange tables for 13 ppl. ordered 2 sets of student meal: 2 pizza, 1 coke, i mushroom chicken soup... nice.
then go beautyworld irc pool billiards n lan game centre. no play lah. just join others who came. bought 1 black shirt for swppcc. pure black business shirts r hard to come by. tuesday went carefour & jusco but found none. otherwise is RM600+!
swppcc prac as usual. darence leng got go 载 guang han. the tuba guy. he's in army. a-leng also treat us to drink @ foodcourt outside ppcc. i drank milo ice.
prac'd merry widow, titanic, princess monoke. got one girl, sharon, from phil youth come n prac w us. she quite good. better than me. duh...
finish liao follow aba to wat tangyuan. was nice. saw a-leng. bought ticket to phil wind n boston brass concert.
Today will be doing homework n play music. nothing interesting. cheers =)

Msia National Day n Teacher's Day
juz now in sch celebrate teacher's day. it was crap. a torture for our ears. got some performers sing ok, but sombody sing until 'zao xia' (out of tune). unbearable. got more than 5 groups dance contemporary hip hop. all the same. no surprise. except 4C. they were good. fabian's song was a torture. the new teachers to the sch: melissa ngo, melissa lai, rachel chan, roselind mattews (dunno if spell correct onot) and still got a lot of teacher (around 20) sing 'dang ni gu dan ni hui xiang qi shui'. melissa ngo sing quite good. rachel chan is tenor voice. disgusting. but their spirit is appraisable.
come back to class then do a lot of teacher's day cards. use only white paper and colour pens. very plain, but hope teacher like it. gave mdm chiu 1 tea set. heard her say she wanna give it back, dun wanna keep. nvm her lah. hope she accept it. gave cards to almost all teachers.
i dunno what to do next, sleep or play? juz slack can do. cheers
