Someday I'll get in and take some good pictures with something other than my phone. Or better yet, maybe I'll have someone else do it!! I can finally say I see light at the end of the tunnel!!! Really and truly. And....it's pretty mind-blowing. I can now officially join the club with those that feel a connection to their home because they have created it. It's a pretty amazing feeling. Not because it's perfect or the best of the best, but because it's ours and every decision that was made was ours. It's been SO rewarding to watch it all come together. Brian and I have grown so much through this process. It's teamwork....no doubt about it. Hard, hard, crazy teamwork......but we're coming out on top(and won't ever do this again!) :)))) We love our home. Everytime we walk in and something else has been done....we just smile. We're so thrilled with our decisions and choices thus far and can't wait to share awesome family memories in it!!
Here are just a few more pics as progress is being made. Professional cleaners came today and it looks so so good.....the windows are so clean you don't even know they are there!!! It's crazy to think about how many times I literally had to walk away because of SO MUCH DUST AND GRIME AND TRASH everywhere in my home. I don't do well in those conditions. To see it clean now is a total miracle! Truly.

The fixture I wouldn't give up on even when some doubted me. It's now making the girls bathroom even more amazing |
That cute tile again in the girls bath. This was pre-toilet |
This is Bob. Our electrician. It may sound crazy, but I've felt a connection with all our subs. They are at the house so much and I've really liked all of them. Bob has gone above and beyond for us. He's the one and only that witnessed one of my meltdowns and listened as I cried for a while. Poor guy. |
Clark was in town and touring the house while Bob was finishing up one night. I would've thought something was wrong with him if he didn't get up there and help ;) |
I waited very patiently for Bob to get my pendants hung. I think he held off just because he knew I was dying to see them in real life and out of boxes. They pretty much brought me to tears. No joke. I knew I was going to love them but when I saw them installed I LOOOOOOVED them. They are one of the very few things I can take credit for. So so happy with them!! |
I took pictures of them from every angle! |
A few days later, Steve pulled the paper off part of the floor and it took my breath away when I walked in. I hadn't seen them in a couple months since they were installed. I still can't believe I found the exact color, texture, and size I wanted. |
Once carpet was laid in the rooms, Brian and I went to work. Here he is cleaning the boys room. |
Yes we are crazy. I don't like Ikea. I think their stuff is functional and makes sense, but I really don't like the store. By the looks on those faces, they don't like it either. It hasn't been fun putting it all together. No fun at all!!! |
After vacuuming the girls room, I figured I better snap a picture....it'll never be this clean again. |
Plumbing is happening!!!! I completely forgot what hardware I'd picked out for the master bath and was happy to see it again....I just knew I loved it!! And then the backsplash just made it even better!!! |
Can't remember if I've mentioned how much I love the granite/marble(yes it's both). I smile every time I see it. |
Cute Camryn's room. She got a new bed. We're waiting on her dresser that also had those adorable crystal knobs. I'm gonna miss having a little girl. I'm really trying to hold on to any bits and pieces of "little girl" she's got in her. It's so fun! |
These right here were as last minute as last minute could be as far as decision making goes. I'd been visualizing these stairs for a long while, but really just thought I'd be ok with carpet. Then, when the carpet was being installed and the carpet guys were LITERALLY at the bottom of the stairs ready to carpet them.....I panicked and quickly blurted out that I really wanted stairs treads. Luckily it was on a Thursday and Brian was right there beside me thinking, "Seriously Lac......you really wanna make that change now?" He's too good to me and instead of saying that out loud he said," Ok, call Ryan(our finisher)and see if he can do it." And then told the carpet guys to wait on the stairs. I can't tell you how happy I am that I said something. Absolutely love the look and it really helps with the flow from upstairs to down. It was another happy dance moment when I saw them stained and finished!! |
The kids are beyond anxious to get back into our home. We have WELL overstayed our welcome at my sisters......and they have made us feel loved and very comfortable. We've made amazing memories and can never thank them enough!!! Beckham was happy to help dad build some beds |
The veggie sink looks so awesome!! I was a little worried about the color, but it looks perfect. It's got the drinking water there as the icemaker is right next to it on the back of the island |
And my sink!!!! Never swayed from this through the whole process. Saw it, loved it, and love it even more now that it's mine!!! |
The laundry room sink. I picked this out all by my lonesome ;) Thought it'd go great with the dark hardware in there but honestly was worried until I saw it installed. Totally goes perfect with the room! Yay! |
Master bathroom tile is done!!!! Boy was that a loooooooong process!! Yikes. I didn't know that what we chose wasn't stuff that was just always in stock. Oops. Waiting for special order items is a pain. But I will say.....walking into the bathrooms is something pretty spectacular for me. Wouldn't have changed one single thing :) Backsplash is done and now we're just waiting on mirrors and lights above the mirrors |
Transition from our tile floors to the shower floor with the granite to tie it all together |
Our shower bench and floor. It's really pretty awesome |
I ordered two Orbs at the same time not really knowing where they'd go. I was close to sending this back until my electrician held it up in our bathroom way back when it was just barely framed and it looked great. Perfect actually. Made me so happy because I really really loved it and wanted it to work somewhere!!! |
View from toilet area in to master closet. Love the arch we added |
Stairs!!! I shouldn't say the word LOVE again, but I will. Couldn't be more pleased. Not one bit!!! Eek! |
More of the girls bathroom. We all know how I feel about this room. But it just keeps getting better and better. |
Had to get a closeup of the tile in the shower. It rocks. It's a reverse dot and I actually thought they'd be small rectangular shapes, but they are huge and it looks so GOOD!! |
Some of the shelving. SO FUN!! |
A look at most of it. The wall color, granite, vanities and backsplash that are the small round dots. I sure hope the girls love this room as much as I do!!! |
Another view of the stairs |
Hand held shower head in the master. One of 3 shower heads. I guess we'll super duper clean!! |
Master closet. I can't figure out how to get it all in. I'm sure hoping it's big enough :)))) |
Brian went over late one night and got a little frustrated with the slow speed in which things were getting done. He kindly went and bought butcher paper and taped our move in date and "to get done" list on the doors. Through this whole process I've learned something new about Brian. If he went away from Pediatrics, he could easily be a contractor. Easily. He has a vision, everything makes sense in his head, catches mistakes before they happen, knows how to change things to make them right and has an impeccable memory. Our contractor has finally admitted that Brian has challenged him in ways he's never been challenged before. It's been frustrating at times because we feel like we have literally had to babysit and check, double check and triple check that things were going according to plan. We didn't expect that.....and I'm amazed with Brian's knowledge and talent(but what's new?) Ha! |
I absolultey love this view from the great room. The gray cabinets, the sink, the blue corner of the lockers, that herringbone tile......love it all!!!! |
We have lots of lighting in the girls bathroom. Not the greatest pictures, but I'm so happy with the light fixtures!!!! |
The girls won't ever be able to say they can't see! Haha |
This picture is just about exact colors/lighting with just natural light |
Meet my darling little pedestal sink!! It was a bit of a splurge, but man oh man do I love it!!! When we decided to change the direction of our stairs, I knew I wanted to add a half bath as soon as you walk in from the garage. It's in the laundry/mudroom and it will solve all issues with "oh my gosh I have to go pee so bad I'm going to pee my pants" incidents that occur everyday after school. SO glad we added it. |
Toilet, sink, cute mirror and some fun lights. Simple and functional. Hip-hip hooray!!!
Breathe. It seems like every corner brings new challenges, joys, frustrations, and great anticipation. Hoping that this next corner with MOVING BACK IN brings nothing but excitement and satisfaction(and a lot of sorting through old junk and keeping things cleaner and more organized). I can dream right!!? Still lots to be done(2 more rounds of touch-ups from painters, barn doors painted and installed, a few knobs here and there to be put on, stone around the fireplace, deck finished, furniture to be delivered, landscaping and yard put back together, ok......I better stop before I get overwhelmed ;) BUT! We can exist and be patient for those things to be finished. And I'm pretty darn sure we'll enjoy every bit of our "new" pad. :) |
