Seton turned 6 months in September (exactly on Jedd's birthday). It's kind of nice that they are both exactly 6 months to the day. But anyway.
Weight: 23 lbs
Height: 29 1/2 inches
Yep you read right, we have a big boy on our hands. The strange thing is that he is big, but not rolly-polly. He is so tall that actually for 23 pounds, he looks quite thin. You can see his neck and wrists and ankles. Yes he has chub everywhere, but we love every inch of his chub and I squeeze and kiss his chub all the time.
Some fun things about Seton at 6 months:
*He still "sings" while he sleeps. The day he was born, he kind of hummed as he breathed out, especially while he was sleeping. There were a lot of tests done on Seton to make sure he was breathing ok and his oxygen levels were ok, and that the proper amount of oxygen was getting to his arms and legs. Everything came back normal, so the nurses just chalked it up to stress from the delivery and said he would grow out of it in a few weeks. Well 6 months later, he still hasn't grown out of singing while he sleeps. And to be honest, I absolutely LOVE it. It makes me smile every time I hear him sing, and melts my heart.
*When I rock him to sleep at night after I have fed him his bottle, he cuddles into my neck and usually sucks on my shoulder until he falls asleep. Libby NEVER cuddled into me so I am loving it. I know it won't last long, but I am enjoying it while he's little.
*Seton still holds onto my fingers while he is eating his bottle.
*He started eating baby food about a week before 5 months but I didn't start consistently feeding him food until he was at least 5 1/2 months old. My dr said that I needed to start him on yellow vegetables (squash, sweet potatoes,...) so I tried it. I didn't agree with it, but I did what the dr told me and gave up after a couple times of Seton crying. I decided to go back to good old rice cereal and he ate it like a champ! So now he LOVES eating baby food. We did cereal for a few weeks and then went to squash and sweet potatoes and loves those too. Once he got the hang of eating, I went away from the rice cereal (the dr says there is not a whole lot of nutritional value) and went to feeding him oatmeal for breakfast and vegetables at night. He eats twice a day and loves every second of it. I also decreased his bottles from 5 x at 7 oz to 4 x at 7 oz.
*Because he loves eating so much, he gets so darn excited when he sees you either making a bottle or getting his food ready. His arms start flailing and he starts breathing really hard. It is really cute to watch.
*He is seriously the happiest baby on earth. Whenever we go anywhere, people always tell me two things: 1. That is the happiest baby I have ever seen and 2. You don't feed that kid do you. It makes me smile and laugh. But truly, he is the happiest baby. NEVER EVER cries, the most he ever does is whines like a puppy dog. So we always call him puppy. He is never unhappy, always has a smile on his face. I guess that means I'm doing ok as a mom if he is so happy right?
*When he is sad, he has mastered sticking out his bottom lip. It is seriously the funniest thing. I need to catch it on camera.
*He is a momma's boy through and through. At least for now. He always wants me to hold him, and me to do things. Jedd says for his sake, it better end pretty soon. So for now, I'm soaking it all in.
*He loves to feel my hair and run his fingers through it and he thinks he is teasing me so he giggles every time. It's quite funny to watch him play with my hair because he thinks he's getting away with something.
*He loves to watch Mickey Mouse. Just like his sister. Loves it. In fact, that is truly the only show he'll sit and actually watch for longer than 5 seconds.
*He is very active and is always moving. He sits up by himself, but for only a few seconds at a time. The Dr says we are not far at all from him sitting up so we are expecting it to happen pretty soon.
*He loves to suck on his fingers under his tongue. Kind of strange, but I think it's cute.
*Since he got rid of his binky at 4 months, he started sucking on his arm to go to sleep. Usually he wakes up with a wet spot on his bicep from sucking on it. Hey at least he doesn't suck his thumb to go to sleep. I'm fine with it. He also still sleeps with his legs up like a frog. I thought he would grow out of this by now too, but nope, his arms and legs are still up.
*He is absolutely OBSESSED with putting anything on his face. Blankets, clothes, diapers, toys, you name it. And he thinks he is hilarious. Post about this is next.
*He got his first hair cut with the clippers. Just a buzz so he didn't look so weird with the middle of his hair growing and not anything else!
*He rolled over for the first time at 5 months but officially rolled from belly to back to belly again at 6 months. He can do it, but usually doesn't want too. He's not a fan of his belly.
Here he is sucking on his finger under his tongue.
There's that smile! It looks kind of funny that he is sitting right in the middle of that brown flower and it frames his head so perfectly. I guess this is what happens when you have an older sister. Everything is flowers and pink.
There's our happy happy boy!
He was giggling at daddy in this picture. And you can really tell how uneven his hair was growing. Still a cute picture of that smile!
And this is how our beater boy puts himself to sleep. Sucking on his arm. Too funny.
