First Hair Cut

Seton got his first hair cut/buzz on September 15th just 6 months old.  His hair was growing in so uneven that I begged Jedd to cut his hair.  We did and he did quite well, just wanted to see what was making all that noise so he moved around A LOT.  But we still got it pretty good.  I'm guessing the more I do it, but better I'll get.

 "The BEFORE"

 "The AFTER"

I miss his dark hair because now that we have cut it, it is growing in a lot lighter.  He was born with such dark hair, now it's just as light as Libby's.  DARN IT!  But I still think he looks cute no matter what.

6 Months

Seton turned 6 months in September (exactly on Jedd's birthday).  It's kind of nice that they are both exactly 6 months to the day.  But anyway.

Weight:  23 lbs
Height:  29 1/2 inches

Yep you read right, we have a big boy on our hands.  The strange thing is that he is big, but not rolly-polly.  He is so tall that actually for 23 pounds, he looks quite thin.  You can see his neck and wrists and ankles.  Yes he has chub everywhere, but we love every inch of his chub and I squeeze and kiss his chub all the time.

Some fun things about Seton at 6 months:
*He still "sings" while he sleeps.  The day he was born, he kind of hummed as he breathed out, especially while he was sleeping.  There were a lot of tests done on Seton to make sure he was breathing ok and his oxygen levels were ok, and that the proper amount of oxygen was getting to his arms and legs.  Everything came back normal, so the nurses just chalked it up to stress from the delivery and said he would grow out of it in a few weeks.  Well 6 months later, he still hasn't grown out of singing while he sleeps.  And to be honest, I absolutely LOVE it.  It makes me smile every time I hear him sing, and melts my heart.
*When I rock him to sleep at night after I have fed him his bottle, he cuddles into my neck and usually sucks on my shoulder until he falls asleep.  Libby NEVER cuddled into me so I am loving it.  I know it won't last long, but I am enjoying it while he's little.
*Seton still holds onto my fingers while he is eating his bottle.
*He started eating baby food about a week before 5 months but I didn't start consistently feeding him food until he was at least 5 1/2 months old.  My dr said that I needed to start him on yellow vegetables (squash, sweet potatoes,...) so I tried it.  I didn't agree with it, but I did what the dr told me and gave up after a couple times of Seton crying.  I decided to go back to good old rice cereal and he ate it like a champ!  So now he LOVES eating baby food.  We did cereal for a few weeks and then went to squash and sweet potatoes and loves those too.  Once he got the hang of eating, I went away from the rice cereal (the dr says there is not a whole lot of nutritional value) and went to feeding him oatmeal for breakfast and vegetables at night.  He eats twice a day and loves every second of it.  I also decreased his bottles from 5 x at 7 oz to 4 x at 7 oz.
*Because he loves eating so much, he gets so darn excited when he sees you either making a bottle or getting his food ready.  His arms start flailing and he starts breathing really hard.  It is really cute to watch.
*He is seriously the happiest baby on earth.  Whenever we go anywhere, people always tell me two things:  1.  That is the happiest baby I have ever seen and 2.  You don't feed that kid do you.  It makes me smile and laugh.  But truly, he is the happiest baby.  NEVER EVER cries, the most he ever does is whines like a puppy dog.  So we always call him puppy.  He is never unhappy, always has a smile on his face.  I guess that means I'm doing ok as a mom if he is so happy right?
*When he is sad, he has mastered sticking out his bottom lip.  It is seriously the funniest thing.  I need to catch it on camera.
*He is a momma's boy through and through.  At least for now.  He always wants me to hold him, and me to do things. Jedd says for his sake, it better end pretty soon.  So for now, I'm soaking it all in.
*He loves to feel my hair and run his fingers through it and he thinks he is teasing me so he giggles every time.  It's quite funny to watch him play with my hair because he thinks he's getting away with something.
*He loves to watch Mickey Mouse.  Just like his sister.  Loves it.  In fact, that is truly the only show he'll sit and actually watch for longer than 5 seconds.
*He is very active and is always moving.  He sits up by himself, but for only a few seconds at a time.  The Dr says we are not far at all from him sitting up so we are expecting it to happen pretty soon.
*He loves to suck on his fingers under his tongue.  Kind of strange, but I think it's cute.
*Since he got rid of his binky at 4 months, he started sucking on his arm to go to sleep.  Usually he wakes up with a wet spot on his bicep from sucking on it.  Hey at least he doesn't suck his thumb to go to sleep.  I'm fine with it.  He also still sleeps with his legs up like a frog.  I thought he would grow out of this by now too, but nope, his arms and legs are still up.
*He is absolutely OBSESSED with putting anything on his face.  Blankets, clothes, diapers, toys, you name it.  And he thinks he is hilarious.  Post about this is next.
*He got his first hair cut with the clippers.  Just a buzz so he didn't look so weird with the middle of his hair growing and not anything else!
*He rolled over for the first time at 5 months but officially rolled from belly to back to belly again at 6 months.  He can do it, but usually doesn't want too. He's not a fan of his belly.

Here he is sucking on his finger under his tongue.
There's that smile!  It looks kind of funny that he is sitting right in the middle of that brown flower and it frames his head so perfectly.  I guess this is what happens when you have an older sister.  Everything is flowers and pink.
 There's our happy happy boy!
He was giggling at daddy in this picture.  And you can really tell how uneven his hair was growing.  Still a cute picture of that smile!
And this is how our beater boy puts himself to sleep.  Sucking on his arm.  Too funny.

He loves that Sis

Seton absolutely LOVES his sister.  But I think it goes both ways, she loves him just as much.  Now that he is a little more interactive, I think she finally has realized that now she has someone that she can play with and get to do what she wants.  Ever since he could make noises on purpose, he has always been trying to get her attention.  She makes him laugh the hardest now (sadly it's not me).  And he is always just looking at her and usually squealing at her so she looks at him.  In fact half the time I think he is asleep in his car seat, he is actually just starring at her, hoping she'll look in his direction or do something funny so he laughs.  They have such a cute bond.  It's only sad to me because I realize that in just a little of time, they will be fighting with each other and yelling and screaming.  Hopefully I can remember these moments to make me smile instead of throw them away!!  Here are just a few pictures we have caught of the two of them  having fun.  These were all taken when he was between 6 and 7 months old.

Seton LOVES sissy's bed and her room period.  Always has, even when he was tiny tiny laying in her toddler bed.  Maybe it's the bright colors or fun patterns.  Not sure, but he loves it.

They love watching Mickey Mouse together.  Mickey was the only show that Libby would actually watch when she was a baby and shockingly enough, it is the same with Seton.  He will only watch the TV if it Micky.  I find it strange that they are both the same way.  But, it sure is cute!
Libby pulled out all of Seton's toys and layed them out for him when I asked her to go grab him "A" toy while I cooked dinner.  What a good sister, taking care of her little brother.
Something else they have in common is that they LOVE the iPad.  Probably watching Mickey again.  But I love that she has her hand around him.

She loves to entertain him and he loves to be entertained while he is in his high chair.
She has recently found that she loves to be in Seton's crib with him after he wakes up.  He loves it to, and they usually are just giggling by the time I come get them both.

 Hanging out on mommy's bed.
This Mickey couch is kind of a staple in our house.  LIbby got it when Seton was born and we have loved it!  Seton has slept on it and now is sitting on it.  And he thinks he is pretty big timer sitting on it with his sis.

This is usually a normal scene in our house, Libby reading to Seton.  He even will listen to her princess books and act totally interested.

Now that Seton is sitting up at 6 1/2 months, this has opened up a whole new world to both of them.  Libby likes to sit behind him to make sure he doesn't fall, but they usually end up playing and giggling. In fact just in the last day or two, he has realized that he can lean back on purpose and fall on her, kind of pinning her down and she gets stuck. He giggles and she laughs while calling me to come saver her. Poor Libby, I think this is only the beginning of baby brother pinning big sister.

These two kiddos are my life and make me wake up each morning with a smile on my face!
I love you two!

5 Months

Seton had a horrible cough when he turned 5 months old (almost exactly to the day) so I had to take him into the Dr and make sure he was ok.  Well come to find out he had croupe.  Yuck!  He had this horrible cough that didn't go away for about a week, and it made us all miserable.  But the reason why I am saying this is because at least when I took him into his appointment, they weighed him.  And he weighed:

20 lbs 7 oz.

Yes he had gained 2 lbs in a month since his 4 month check up.  With that being said, I started feeding him cereal at 5 months and so this definitely helped with the weight gain.

Here are a few pictures of our lives when Seton was 5 months old.

Seton sat in his bouncer for the first time at 5 months and loved it.

He was obsessed with laying on his side every chance he could.  In fact half the time he was licking the carpet.
I put him on his blanket to change his diaper and this is what happened when I walked away for a minute to go get the diaper.  He is already a mover!
He's obsessed with grabbing his toes.  In fact giggled one time because he was tickling himself.  It was quite funny.
Sister had to get a picture with her also grabbing her toes.  What two cuties!

Seton has been sleeping with a blanket since he was born but when I went in and found him like this after a nap, I knew we would be in trouble of him putting the blanket on his face.  This was about the last time he slept with a blanket.

Along with playing in his bouncer, he also sat in his bumbo at 5 months.  He loves it, if you can't tell from the smiles.  Too bad the bumbo didn't last long because his legs were too chubby to fit him in.

Too bad he has a horrible scratch on his nose in this picture, but man that smile just gets me!

Minnie Headphones

Libby has really been struggling with going to nursery lately.  Since Jedd and I were released from being in nursery, it has been very difficult for her to go.  One day we tried to bribe her and see if she would go without crying.  And the bribe was Minnie headphones.  She didn't make it through church, even close, without crying.  But since we were heading out for a 4 1/2 hour car trip to St. George the next weekend, we decided she deserved the Minnie headphones so she could listen to the iPad and also for our sanity of not hearing Max & Ruby, Doc McStuffins, and Sofia through the whole trip down.

Aren't they so cute on her?  By the way, BEST PURCHASE EVER!  She can watch and we don't have to listen to her shows and she's not fighting with us because she can't hear her show over the TV.  It's a win-win all around.

And of course brother had to get in on the fun.  I was making dinner and Jedd said "Kylie come see this."  I about fell over laughing so hard. This little boy is such a trooper when it comes to things like this!  I have to admit, he sure looks pretty darn cute in Minnie!

On your head of course

Libby has a princess book where the little princesses have suction cups to stick on the pages of the book.  Libby loved it and it was her surprise for going to the dentist and getting a cavity filled in July.  I'm not sure who's idea it was, but one afternoon I looked on the couch and saw them on daddy's face, but it sure made for many laughs.  The real funny part about it?  Do you see Mulan right smack dab in the middle of his forehead?  He had a red mark from that suction cup for the next 3 days.  Ok he didn't think it was funny, but I thought it was hilarious.

 The tough daddy picture.
The tough guy didn't last long...
A couple days after putting princesses on her daddy, Libby decided to take her stickers and put them on daddy's face.  At least they didn't leave marks this time on his forehead!!

4 Months

Seton at his 4 month check up:

Weight: 18 lbs 6 oz
Height:

Some things about Seton at 4 months:

*He loves to suck on anything and everything.  Still loves sucking on his hands and fists, but mostly it's now his pointer and middle finger and usually gags himself 90% of the time.
*Won't lay back anymore when you hold him.  He has to be sitting up or up on your shoulder.  He loves this position most on your shoulder because he can see everything going on  (behind you at least).  But beware, your shoulder will be sopping wet when he's done with you!
*Won't take his binky anymore unless he is totally fighting going to sleep and I can't get him to calm down.  He absolutely hates his binky I think because he things it's food, and it's not.  So I guess we are done with the binky.
*The day he turned 4 months old, he started screaming when I would try and rock him to sleep.  So I finally made the decision after 2 full days of this that if he was going to scream, he might as well try and cry himself to sleep instead of me holding him while he is screaming.  One night he didn't go to bed until 11 pm (not like him at all) because he didn't want me rocking him to sleep.  Yes, he is that stubborn! So it took about a week or two for him to finally be able to go to sleep within 5-10 minutes of whinning/crying.  But it was sad to stop rocking him, I felt like he was no longer my newborn.  But man, just putting him in his crib to sleep was kind of nice!
*He only lets momma put him to sleep in his crib.  Whenever daddy tries doing it, he screams and just looks at him like he is crazy and wonders if he knows what he's doing.  Fights daddy on going to sleep all the time, momma nothing!
*He can hit/grab anything in front of him and usually grabs everything.
*Still loves his momma best but is starting to like daddy more and more everyday.  Of course he likes him, but is starting to acknowledge he's around and laughs at him.  Although, he still laughs at mom the hardest.  Everything I do is hilarious to him!
*Is the most ticklish on his thighs and collar bone.
*Laughed for the very first time on June 20th, just one week past 3 months old.

Pictures:
This is how we usually find out boy with his legs up.

Libby is obsessed with putting things on his head.  It makes me giggle every time.

I mean come on, who wouldn't laugh at this boy with a pink burp rag on his head?

This is usually how I find my family when I am doing something.  The kids and daddy are obsessed with the iPad.

3 Months

I am trying to catch up and so these next few posts are going ot probably be kind of random.  But hey, at least I'm trying to catch up.

Seton was 3 months old in June.

Some things Seton did by 3 months:

*Started sleeping 12 hours through the night at 12 weeks.  That was awesome!  Too bad I was done with work at this point.  Sleeps really good through the day, 3 naps.
*Really getting into laughing and smiling.  Mostly at his momma, but definitely gives his sister attention.  Not to sure about that dadda though, just yet.
*Started reaching and touching things at 3 months exactly to the day.  Of course it was his sister's sippy cup that he went for first, probably to tease her, but that was what he grabbed for the first time.  Concentrated really hard for a few week at how to touch things and soon became a pro at reaching for things.  Didn't grab them too much, just kind of hit things with his hands.
*Absolutely hates his bath and getting naked.  Doesn't like to be in the bathtub.
*Loves licking his hands and usually has his hands in his mouth.  Usually it is trying to get his full fist in his mouth.
*Still lets me rock him to sleep.  I wrap him up in a blanket, rock him in my arms for about 5 minutes and he's gone.
*Loves to be talked to and loves to talk.  Usually makes the "ooo" sound, but loves to be talked too.
*Pulls his hair and wonders why it hurts.  This only lasted a week or so and then didn't do it again.  Maybe he finally realized that it hurt and to stop pulling his own hair!

Here are some pictures:
See what I mean by trying to get his full fist in his mouth?  Silly boy!

Of course the only picture I got of Seton smiling, Jedd was looking down.

That smile just kills me!  We love you beater-boy!
