Mother’s Day

I am sitting enjoying the peace and quiet of my home.  Not because my kids are gone, but because peace exists in our home.  I have struggled for years and shied away from talking to people about the struggles that we’ve had experienced with Jadelyn.  Most people do not understand the struggles and give well intended advice. Out of which we have gained the knowledge that something was very different with our situation and that we were lost and t needed serious help.
A lot has changed in the last eight weeks, we have found help and have had our prayers answered. We have been attending Brain Highway and have been working on changing the brain.  It is the first time in years that there has been peace and harmony in our home.  We are only half way through the program and we have seen so many wonderful and positive changes.  We have gone from screaming and yelling for hours from the smallest changes and challenges in life to being able to handle huge changes with little or no fear.  Jadelyn used to sleep in our bed every night and this was a habit we didn’t have the strength to correct. But after a little time in the brain highway program we were able to get her in her own bed with very little effort.  From school being a challenge and Jadelyn being unengaged to school being fun and creative.  Jadelyn used to cling to our side everywhere we went and tended not to talk much outside our home. This gave the appearance that we had a well behaved child; however at home we had a little monster.  Now we are actually having a harder time with her behavior outside the home rather than at home. But, we are actually seeing the blessing in this. Jadelyn was once shy in public, but now she is talking more and we are even hearing from many people that they are noticing huge changes in her behavior.
Jadelyn’s academics have also improved. She used to have the hardest time doing the simplest coloring pages to coming home with amazing art work. She has always struggled in writing and the best she could do was write her name in huge capital letters, a few days ago, she, for the first time wrote her name in lower case letters without any help. She is now engaged with her classmates and her teachers.
It is a blessing to see her acting like a kid and being creative and having fun in life. Jadelyn recently came out of a one on one appointment for speech and her teacher said we had an evangelist on our hands. Apparently Jadelyn wanted to know what God her teacher served and if she knew of Jesus. Talk about a huge life change and being brave.  She might have lead the teacher to a relationship with Christ if she wasn’t already a Christian.
In the last eight weeks I have seen the kid that God intended Jadelyn to be.  I am blessed beyond measures to have two kids in the house.
