Chatterbox?!
I've been wondering if Mr. B is going to be quiet like Justin and me or a chatterbox like his Aunt Kelly. Last night he was definitely favoring the latter!!
I know this video is dark. I'm so sad about that. But it was right at dusk when it was about time to turn on some lights in the house and we were so excited to record him that we didn't think of turning on a lamp! DUH!

2 month Stats
Well, Mr. B turned 2 months old back on July 21st. I can't believe our little guy is that old! Time is already flying by.
Here are his stats:
Weight: 10 lbs, 14 oz (and he was hungry so I think he would have been 11 lbs if had eaten!)
Height: 24 inches!!!
He is long and lean and perfectly healthy. We are so thankful and blessed. He did have to get 5 shots and one oral immunization at his dr. appt. I held his arms and he just stared at me and screamed. I almost cried too, and so did Justin. It's rough being a parent!!
I have really come to love this little guy. To be honest, I was pretty overwhelmed in the beginning and it took me some time to bond with him. But I just love him so much. And I'm tearing up just thinking about this!!

Here are some cool things he is doing:
-He talks to us all the time and to his toys, too
-He has been trying to reach and grab at his toys on the play mat
-He LOVES his play mat and likes to spend time there
-He is enjoying his swing more than just sleeping in it
-He gives us lots of big sweet smiles that melt our hearts, esp. first thing in the morning when we pick him up out of bed
-He is sleeping better through the night-usually just waking up around 5 am and 8/9 am to eat
-He's almost laughing when we tickle him. He hasn't quite figured out how to just yet, but his eyes get really big and he kinda holds his breath and does a big exhale
Here are a few of my favorite pictures of this month.
Mr. Cranky Face
Smiling and talking to Pa (my Dad)
Well, this is NOT one of my favorites. Poor guy!
He has discovered his tongue, hand and feet. It's funny to see him stare at his feet. I know he's thinking, "Are those attached to me?!"

Moments Like These...
Tonight after feeding Brandon, I was snuggling him trying to get him to go to sleep. Then he looked at me with his gorgeous blue eyes and just starting talking to me in the gentle-ist cooing he's done yet. We had a great 5 minute conversation, with his eyes locked on mine the whole time. WOW!! It just melted my heart. What a special moment!!! I love my little man! (re-reading this just now brings tears to my eyes. He's adorable!)
Justin really wanted to go back to church today, but I was just not ready. I really want Brandon to have his first round of vaccinations before we take him to a nursery (and those will be on the 22nd) and I really wasn't ready to leave him in a nursery-even if it's at our church. I mentioned this to our Sunday School teacher tonight and she said to just bring Brandon to class for the first time. Our dept. usually introduces new babies to everyone before we break into individual classes and we could just keep him with us after that. Justin was worried about doing this in case he got fussy, but my SS teacher said just take him outside, or if you need to I'll take him outside! So we'll see what we end up doing. It's just hard to think about leaving him with someone else other than our family members. But it will be good for us to get back into the swing of things, too, and get back to church. We have missed it.
It has been neat to see him smile on purpose and he smiles a lot!! Every morning when I go to get him out of the cradle and say good morning to him, he smiles at me!! It's adorable!!! I love to see his toothless grin. It makes my heart sing!
Yesterday he has also started talking to his toys-the ones hanging on his bouncy seat and the bears on the mobile above his swing. It's sooooo cute!! And he has seemed to enjoy just swinging in his swing now. (This makes me think of the song, Just a Swingin' by John Anderson..."Her brother was on the sofa eating chocolate pie, her mama was in the kitchen cutting chicken up to fry. Her daddy was in the backyard rolling up the garden hose and I was on the porch with Charlotte swinging up, down, to our toes. Just a swinging!"--sorry but it got in my head! Is it in yours now? he he)
I also took Brandon out to our Sunday school picnic/kickball tournament tonight. He did AWESOME!! He didn't fuss and let people hold him. My friend Emily fed him, too! I think he enjoyed being outside and looking around. :)

Everyone always asks who we think he looks like. I see a lot of me in him. There are times where he looks like my baby pictures, which is wierd, but cool too. Who do you think he looks like?
Guess that's all the updating for now...Here are a few recent pictures. He's a CUTIE!!!
He was laying on grandpa's legs, so that's why his eyes are a little bug-eyed!
I love this outfit. I call him Mr. Crab when he wears it. But it's a newborn and sadly he has just about grown out of it.
LOVE this one of them!! Too cute!

Fun times with Mom
I've also had a really fun time getting to know Brandon and being his mom. It is still wierd to me to think he's my son and I'm his mom. It is slowly sinking in.
Here are a few pictures of us. I'm not in too many b/c I'm always taking them!

Happy (late) Father's Day Justin
This year was Justin's first Father's Day. Sadly, he had to work. But we were able to meet him for dinner. I've been very impressed with his new parenting skills and have really enjoyed watching him with Brandon.
Here are a few neat moments I'm storing up of Justin as a new Dad.-One night on our first week home when we were absolutely exhausted and sleep deprived, I got up to feed Brandon. As I was getting back into bed I asked Justin to hold the baby so I could get situated. Justin sat up from a dead sleep, held Brandon, and immediately smiled at him and started talking to him. This image will forever be imprinted in my mind. It was so special.
-I love to hear Justin say "Hey Buddy" to Brandon every time he picks him up.
-Watching Justin read to Brandon.
-Justin can swaddle Brandon like no one else!
-Listening to Justin Shhhh Shhhh-ing Brandon when he's fussy.
-Watching Justin push the stroller.
-Hearing Justin talk with Brandon as he changes his diapers.
Here is Justin's first picture with Brandon.
Nursery Bookshelves
We finally found some bookshelves for the nursery. We bought them at Nafas Unfinished Furniture and then stained them (The very next day I might add. We have had our entertainment center for well over a year and a half and have not stained it yet. That is our next project once it cools down some!)

Both of us were covered with stain by the time we were through!
Now we just need more books for our little guy! :)

One Month Already
Sunday, Brandon was officially one month old. Where has the time gone?! I cannot believe that he's been here with us for a month! Time is already flying so fast. How do you savor every moment when they go by so fast?
Some great things about my baby boy.
-His gorgeous blue eyes. I love to look into them and see him looking at me.
-His cooing and talking just melt my heart.
-I love his smile. I don't know if it's a "real" smile just yet, but it's wonderful.
-I love how he looks in his puppy dog night gowns.
-I love the way he smells after a bath.
-He seems pretty laid back so far. We'll see if this sticks around.
I know there are more, but this is all that is coming to mind right now.

Terrific Thursday-Brandon's Birth Part 2
Well, the day did not start out so terrific! I woke up between 5 and 6 am with uncomfortable pains in my low back. The medicine they put on my cervix had started labor and these pains turned out to be contractions! They didn't start out too bad, but man, did they ever get bad!! They were every 2-3 minutes apart all day long! I laid in bed for hours and hours (like 6 or 7 to be exact!) writhing in pain! I opted to take some IV pain medication, which did nothing for the contractions, just made me extremely drowsy. So I'd have a contraction and then doze off for 2 to 3 minutes and wake up in pain of another contraction. And I'd have to grip the side of the bed and breathe through it. They didn't want me up walking around b/c they were monitoring the baby, but man I wish I could have done something! I also forgot about all the pain management techniques we learned in our Lamaze class. Justin didn't remember them either. :(
The on-call doctor did not advise an epidural that early in the process b/c I was not dilating or progressing. In fact they didn't think I was dilated at all and I don't know if they believed me that I was to 1 cm the night before.
Finally, one contraction broke my water. The nurse had to convince the doctor to let me have the epidural. Relief finally came at 12:30 p.m. with the best medical invention ever invented-the epidural. It was a NIGHT AND DAY difference! I barely felt the numbing prick into my back, felt one full contraction after that, part of the 2nd one, and then nothing else until well after midnight! :) It was amazing! I could sit up in bed and hold a conversation with people. I was still having contractions every 2-3 minutes, but could not feel anything.
After the epidural, the nurse checked and I was dilated to 5 cm! Half-way there!!! Now the waiting began. The nurse checked me every hour to an hour and a half. At one point they gave me some pitocin b/c my contractions were spacing out a little and we didn't want that! Each time they checked me I had dilated more. Then finally the doctor said I was to 10 cm and ready to begin pushing. I kinda freaked out a little then b/c I knew I would meet my baby very soon!
So I began pushing and pushed for 2 hours! Brandon Robert Seabourn was born on May 21, 2009 at 10:13 pm, weighing in at 7 pounds 5.5 ounces, and was 20 3/4 inches long.
He had had his first bowel movement (meconium) in the womb and they took him immediately to the little warmer bed in the delivery room and began suctioning out his lungs. He was fine, but they still had to work on him for a little bit. I laid in bed getting stitched up from my episiotomy and Justin was recording them working on him. It was painful to have to watch from a distance when I had been waiting for 9 months to hold him. Finally they brought him over to me and I got to meet my son. It was surreal (and still is) to finally hold him and see his tiny fingers and tiny toes. He was perfect!
Our families were anxious to meet Brandon and were so happy when Justin went to get them from the waiting room close to midnight. My 7 year old nephew, Ayden, was the first one through the door. I was surpirsed to see him b/c he had school the next day. I think he was the most excited to meet his cousin and hold him. It was very sweet!
Well, I think that's the whole story. We stayed in the hospital a few days and came home that following Saturday. We were ready to get some good sleep without interruption!
Here are the first pictures of Brandon and us coming home from the hospital.
Put your mouse over the pictures for a caption. It is playing music and I don't know why-couldn't get that off. Sorry! I didn't choose it.

Whirlwind Wednesday-Brandon's Birth Part 1
Well, Wednesday 5-20-09, was my last day at work. I was looking forward to a few days off before Brandon came. I had big plans of getting a pedicure, doing some last minute shopping, and really just relaxing and having some Kylene-time before he came. Well, Wed. was also my last doctor's appointment before my due date. Boy did everything change at that appointment!!!

Brandon's heart beat is the top line. The bottom line shows contractions when they happen.
The dr. visit was fine, everything normal and baby was good. I was 75-80% effaced and dilated to 1 cm. The doctor wanted to do a sonogram to check on him and see if we could get a weight estimate (which was 7 lbs. 8 oz-just a few ounces off from his actual weight!). She was also checking the amniotic fluid levels. As she was checking the levels she learned that they were "borderline, but on the low side." The doctor said she was "comfortable right now (with the levels), but not next week." Then she started talking about inducing me. I was like OK, thinking it would be a few days or something. She said let me go check with the hospital. She came back not even 5 minutes later and said, "OK you will need to check in at the hospital TONIGHT at 9 pm. They will put some medicine on your cervix overnight and then give you pitocin at about 10 in the morning. And we should have a baby by tomorrow evening."
Um...begin the FREAK OUT now please!
I just about burst into tears when she said all this!!! We were both in shock and stunned and pretty scared! I just wasn't expecting her to send us right then! I wasn't ready to be a mommy just yet!
So, what I had planned for a few days off now had to be done in less than 4 hours! I went to buy a nursing bra and nursing tank top, Justin went to get a haircut, I went to get a pedicure (my sister called me Miss America for this and laughed at me, but I knew it would be a while until my next one!), Justin went home to pack, then I came home and finished packing and we headed to the hospital! Those last few hours just flew by!
Let the waiting begin...

My sister April and friend Rachael came to the hospital Wed. night to hang out for a bit. We laughed and stayed up way to late, but they really calmed my fears and helped me be more at ease. I'm so glad they came by. Thanks y'all!

Catching up
Well, my last belly bump pictures were at 29, 30, and 32 weeks and I'm at 38 weeks right now. So I've got some updating to do.
I went to the doctor yesterday. She said I'm 50% effaced and have not dilated any yet. I made some progress from the last visit, which is good. I've had lots of Braxton Hicks contractions-just long periods of tightness. They have been uncomfortable at times, but not too bad. Brandon still moves around and really pushes out on my stomach. He's running out of room and so now sometimes the pressure of him against my tummy hurts! I still love to feel him move. It helps me feel that everything is OK in there!
I had a week off due to the swine flu and I got quite a bit of baby stuff done. All the clothes and sheets and blankets are washed. There is one load left of towels and washcloths left to do and the laundry's all set. My sisters and Justin's sister have all been over to help organize and help out. It has been amazing to have their help. We were very overwhelmed by all the baby stuff that we didn't know where to start. But they jumped right in and help to get us organized. Wahoo! We need to do some final shopping at Babies-R-Us for things we did not get, which isn't too much really.
Guess that's all the updating for now...here are the pictures!
