WITCH HATS, PINK RIBBONS and a HALLOWEEN MOON!

Happy Halloween!

A witch hat I made from an old grapevine wreath.
Took the wreath apart, soaked the grape vines
to straighten them out, then attached them to a wire frame.
All items are natural.

As October comes to a close, please remember to keep Breast Cancer Awareness and mammograms "front and center"

A WICKED HOP - JUST GHASTLY!

Who are the Ghastlies?
They remind me of Edward Gorey's
the "Gashlycrum Tinies"

Alexander Henry, the fabric designer, website says
In Ghastlie Manor on Ghastlie Street there's a Ghastlie family there to meet.
Mathilda Ghastlie with husband too extend a Ghastlie hand to you.
It's a Ghastlie day for a Ghastlie walk, under Ghastlie trees on a Ghastlie block.
A Ghastlie time for Ghastlie things like Ghastlie pets with Ghastlie wings!

This orange fabric was one of the first lines made.
I don't have it and that is a NIGHTMARE!

I've been really WICKED
making 4 GHASTLIES kwilts
in the last 2 months.

 "The Ghastlies" gray color wave
using the "Side lights" pattern (by Kari Nichols)
you can order it here.

Aanother gray version of the patter using
"A Ghastlies Night" and pink borders.
The gray and pink colors is what first drew me
into the Ghastlies household.

"The Ghastlies" fabric in mauve, my design.
I did use both "The Ghastlies" and "A Ghastlie Night"
for the sidelight blocks in this one.

Love this little girls...and
I'm still looking for my hammer!

I couldn't find the orange Ghastlies fabric
so I made my own orange and black design by
fussy cutting centers and making wonky frames.
The orange flange just makes this one POP!

Here are some close ups of the blocks
showing the quilting and a better feel for
the actual colors..still working on the photogrpahy!
Maybe Santa will bring me a new camera?

AND last but not least...I designed a tote bag using
"The Ghastlies Family Gallery" fabric in gray.

SWAP and HOP!

Martha Cavasos Fipps over at MCSQRD.blogspot.com
took on the challenge of organizing 70 swappers
and the outcome was spook-tac-u-lar!

Look at the goodies my secret partner,
Lisa Krupa sent me the BEST swappies!

Love this mug rug!

A very zippy key ring
and a huge pumpkin paper clip!

The Gordon's do love their candy corn...
this towel is SWEET!

A little ghost ornament that jingles!
Yes all those eyes, smile and spider is embroidered!

And a very fun magnetic note holder
perfect for my white board in the sewing room.

I gathered them all under my little Halloween tree !
Thanks to all who made this swap sew fun.
The FB posts were pretty funny as some really scary sewists
kept the dialogue going!

DESIGN WALL DAY

Getting closer to finishing my Ghastlies kwilt top design.

A combo of wonky, impromptu and some stashing to pull it together.
I have used 2 lines of the grays and white focus prints
Added lots of orange in the wonky blocks and black for framing.

Thinking I will add an orange flange and black outside border.
Like it?

KWILT ON!

AUTUMN CHARMER

This kwilt was in the works for a couple of years!
It all began as a swap with my work guild.
I finished the top and it went into my UFO pile!

Then finally it hit the "big" machine!

Meandering softened the view.

 All done.
I find it very difficult to get a good photo of batiks!
It is sew much prettier than my photos!

Any suggestions for photographing batiks?

This is a free ePattern (in several sizes)
courtesy of LynBrown.com, click here

Why not make it modern? Try solids. Leave off the borders.
What about a baby kwilt?  Something masculine for
your favorite guy?  Team colors?

Hope you give it a try...
it's fast and easy and mine is FINALLY FINISHED!
Linking up today...Friday links on my side bar!

A GHASTLIE KINDA DAY

Raining at the beach today with a chill in the air...
it was just ghastly.

Sew I made this top...
also just Ghastly!

Sidelights, by Kari Nichols
of Mountainpeek Creations,
is my "go to" pattern for fabric like the Ghastlies.
Let the scene be the star!

\\

"A Ghastlie Night" fabric came out a couple years ago.
At least this family and Sebastian, the cat,  has dinner together.

I framed all the "side lights" with the same gray print
that just screams "Ghastlies" (you can use many prints if
you want a more scrappy look)

A pink was perfect for the inside borders
to bring out the Ghastlies rosy cheeks and flowers.

Found a fun fabric in my stash for the border!

Today the Ghastilies brought me all the sunshine I needed.
