Fortune-telling

Was on a cab when I had my fortune told today.
Ha!

It's not the first time that a cabby has deciphered my life, my character,
just by merely looking thru the rearview mirror at my face.

And I come to realise what they said are all the same. Or at least, it's the about the same.

Maybe it's because they read the same fortune telling book which describes how, when your lips are shaped in a certain way, when your ears are flipping in an unusual way and how flat your nose may be that your character is formed.
Ha!
No offence to those who are a die-hard-I-believe-in-fortune-telling people.
Just that somehow, I think it works like horoscopes and crystal balls.

Afterall, who wouldn't like to hear a good thing or two about themselves after a lousy day at work?

Well, you decide for yourself if you want to believe what other people tells you about how your future will be like.
but don't make it what you'll be living by.
Especially when you hear it from the look-like-you-need-some-$-for-the-next-meal kind.

No offence to the cabbies out there who likes to offer word of advice to passengers!
You can do what you like to make the day/entertain for your passengers!
:D

I know, I know!

Travelling on a blue cab from a XXXXXXX taxi company, I directed the taxi uncle when I was about to reach my workplace, where it's a bit ulu...

"Uncle, you go straight at that junction"
"Yah, I know."

Vroom...he started to signal right.
I thought he was just changing lanes, cos he was at a rather fast speed.
but then...he didn't turn off his signal even though he was already at the extreme right.

Hmm...
15m from the junction, he was still in the right lane, with the "tick-tick", "tick-tick" sound still ringing in my ears.
And I'm pretty sure he was turning right at this point since it's already so near the junction.

And so, I said again, very patiently to him,
"Uncle, here must go straight"
"Huh?! Here go straight har? I know, I know!"

Then he started to turn off his signal.
Phew.
If he had turned right, I would have landed myself at the expressway, wasting my another few bucks because it will definitely be a detour.

"Uncle, later must turn left at this junction"
"Yah yah, I know!"

And he didn't even signal.
What shocked me later was that he went straight!!
And missed the junction!!!

I was dumbfounded.
Either I have been giving wrong directions (but I heard what I said myself, unless I am hallucinating?), or that he cannot understand DIRECTIONS like "Straight, left, right".
Thought that as a driver, the last thing you should fare worst at is understanding directions given?

Anyway, I got to my workplace safe and sound in one piece, and surprisingly was on time.
Though I had to pay more for that extra journey.

This taxi uncle didn't even apologise for the extra mile he took and the instructions he did not understand!!!!

When I got off the cab, I was reminded of people I've met who had adopted the "I-know" attitude when they don't actually know what to do.
And for some profound reasons (maybe ego?), they have to "know".
Worse, when they are stuck because they actually don't know what to do,
they go on to pretend that they know!!!

Pity those who have to help them clean up their moron acts/ "smart" asses.
*shakes head*

Just what is wrong in asking when you don't know?!

Superband.......not!

" 你是电,你是光,你是唯一的神话
我只爱你,You are my Super-Baaannnnnnnd!!"

Yes yes...
It is what you see.
The ticket to the Superband concert featured live on Channel U earlier on.
And, I was there!!
Ah ha!
Call me the youthful one!
The one with the young spirit within me!

But honestly, didn't pay for the tix at all.
Lia graciously invited me and my mister to watch as she has some 4 tix with her.
Hehehe!
Call me cheapo, call me low-class!
I got to go for free, and you had to stay home and watch!
Ah ha!

But I left the concert after it began 45 mins.
It was far too noisy for an old and going-deaf woman like me.
Young girls(and even boys) were shouting at the top of their voices for the band they worshipped!

Even formed fan clubs before these bands cut any album!

Reminds me of the times when I was younger and collected all the 明星卡of Aaron Kwok (yeah! I was a die-hard fan who didn't have much $ to buy the more-expensive and useless items).

Ex-victim of the media who created the whole lot of these worshipping crap and helped them make tons of $$$!

Since I was actually am quite clueless about who is from what band and who they are even (and thought that the lights were far too blinding and sound system too muffled and noisy) , I went back.
Sorta wasted the tix since all 4 of us who went didn't really enjoy the concert.

But it wasn't that much of a wasted trip as we've got free hair dyes!!!
4 packs!!
(because the sponsor was "hoyu" = free hair dye for publicity?)
Hahaha...
And I even made it home to watch the result.
Not that I know they were and whether or not it is important who won.

Just to fulfil that curiosity of mine :P

Afterall, I did spend a 2-hour journey to and back from Expo just to be there at the concert,
and sacrificed my dinner even!
(All that for the hairdye goodie-bag?!!!!! And finding out that I am truly getting old?!!)

my new ikea chair...

Ahh..yes!

My dream finally came true!

Since many many years ago,
I longed to have a nice and comfy chair in my room.
A chair so comfortable that I can read and nua on it...

And there it is...
now sitting in my room...

Doesn't matter that thousands of others in Singapore (or maybe even in other countries) have the same chair as I do...
As long as I have my simple dream fulfilled :)

Note : Picture taken not doing justice to the chair. Poor quality (and lighting) because no $ to buy digital cam and have to use lousy nok*a phone to shoot it :P

One little toe into my X-years away coffin...

In 6 more months, I'll be 2-7.

Gosh.
Time really flies.
I remember when I was at Peiqi's house when her sister, PeiPei told me how time would fly when u reach your twenties, then thirties, and then that's it.
It will be like you are seated in a sleigh on the top of a snowy mountain,
and when the sleigh plunges...vroooooom!!
there's no stopping to it...!

I feel old.
Not the wrinkled kind of old.
Just old.

You know, the kind of aging process you experience even though you may not be like 50?60?

Just 2 days back when I offered to help out at my mum's workplace where I have to bend over to check on the prices of the stock most of the time, I feel my lower back gave way to an unbearable excruciating pain.
I thought that was just an effect of minimised activities I had over the past months (ya, I admit that I haven't been heading down to the gym, but hey! recall that I was working 7-7?!!ok fine, not an excuse also right).

Worse to come, while helping there, they were tuned in to 972.
And I was really enjoying the songs played.
'Cause I know all the songs that were played.
I can even sing along to the lyrics.

Signs of aging are really showing. (well, hopefully I am not showing it physically...)

I am slowly progressing from 933 to 972.
Who knows in a while more, I'll be tuning in to my next "favourite station" -958??!!

I always felt that the music you listen to is an indication of which generation you belonged to.
Not the genre, but what you considered popular and soothing to the ear, the kind which I would describe as, 耳熟能详 will be the telltale signs to which era you are from.

I am really getting old!!!!

And I am starting to wonder about the meaning of life.
What is life all about, really?

What is that we are pursuing?

As I wonder on the meaning of life,
I realise that time is seeping away together with my drifting thoughts...
I oughta make better use of it.

Before one of my little toes creeps its way into my X-years away coffin...

My only consolation and my future 座右铭 - Age, is only a number :)

P.S. : I thought it would be more interesting if I had expanded more on that view on meaning of life topic, but am really rushing for time...to go swimming! wait for my next post ya!

it's been a long time...

Ahhh...

It's been quite a while since I updated my blog :P

And thanks to eve for dropping a comment on my long stale last entry to remind me to update :)

I have been procrastinating to update it,
even though there have been so many topics and thoughts I wanna share with all of you out there.
But something held me back.

I dread going online these days.
Because going online would mean sitting in front of the PC AGAIN after a day of work.
And when I say "a day of work", I really meant a day of work.

These days, I work from sunrise to sunset.
At the end of the day, I still feel as if I had not accomplished anything.
And when I get home,
all I wanna do is take a nice hot shower and plunged into my bed.
So that I can be rejuvenated to slog the next day again (and accomplish "nothing"??)

No more flickering-and-eye-damaging screen images please!!!

(but I know I have to update my blog :P)
Readers, please be a bit patient with me ok??

I have lots to say and lots for you to judge :)
Just that I haven't had the time to pen it down.

Pray that I won't forget :)
