Celebrating Hayden in Hayden, Idaho

I have a child with a double digit age.  I need to finish this post so I can turn my mind to other things rather than how fast my kids are growing.  Hayden's birthday coincided with a family trip to Hayden Lake in Idaho.  He didn't get his door decorated (a tradition) or his favorite Buffalo Wild Wings (that will come later) or many presents (also later) but he did get to spend the day with family, a fun movie, and swimming in the lake.

Hayden is kind, quiet, thoughtful, and a good brother.  He loves Minecraft, swimming, bike riding, and his latest hobby is shooting BB guns. He also just finished reading the entire Hunger Games series.  I can't tell if that makes me a good mom or a bad mom.  He has a good sense of humor and some of the funniest things come out of his mouth.  I particularly enjoy his sound effects that are appropriately applied to good, bad and funny situations just like in the movies.  Here is to a great last year of elementary school and lots of fun, Hayden!

Easter

Most events around our house occur at the very last minute and are extremely chaotic. Easter was no exception. The night before Easter, around 8pm, we realized we hadn't dyed any Easter eggs. The kids were  eager to participate, especially since it meant staying up later.

Trevor is a ham (and I love it!)

Dying eggs late at night meant that the Easter bunny couldn't visit our home until much, much later. In the morning, Lincoln raided the recycling tub and found Tadj's evidence of a late night.

Miss Kendall searching for eggs.

So stinkin' cute!

Trevor was still trying to figure out Easter. He would find an egg, immediately open it, and try to eat whatever was inside.

Lincoln eating candy, wrapper and all.

Tadj left for church early so I TRIED by myself to get a picture of all of the kids dressed up in their cute clothes. But NOTHING turned out where all 4 kids were looking at me.

April Fool's Day

Tadj and I wanted to plan something fun for the kids for April Fools Day but I didn't want to do anything too time consuming. We finally decided on writing the kids first initials on their foreheads during the night. I was tasked with Kendall and quietly tip toed into her room (literally). She immediately felt the tip of the marker and started slapping her own face and squirming. I was using all my self control to keep from laughing out loud hysterically so I was only able to get a single "K" on the middle of her forehead and a couple hearts on the side. Tadj marked Hayden (who also reacted like Kendall) and Trevor (who is a hard sleeper and ended up with multiple T's.) We didn't do anything to the baby because if you know Lincoln it would have meant him waking up and sleeping on top of me in our bed all night long (such a momma's boy!)

Tadj and I awoke to hear this conversation:

Hayden: "Kendall, you have something on your forehead!"
Kendall: "Hayden, you have something on your forehead, too!"
Hayden and Kendall getting concerned: "What is this?" "Who did this to us?" "Trevor has something on his forehead, too!" "Let me see!" "Mom/Dad who did this to us?!"

Snow in March

A dusting of snow on the ground was enjoyed by two little boys and one big dog on a cold March morning.
