My Lance Armstrong

Richard rode the Chico Wildflower yesterday, which is a 100 mile bike ride that pretty much goes through all the towns that surrond Chico. People come from all over to ride it. Richard met a guy that flew down from Alaska, and heard the farthest people had come from Germany. It was a really fun day. The boys and I drove around to different spots taking pictures, and met up with him for lunch. I was so amazed and impressed, I thought for sure he wouldn't even be able to walk today, cuz I wouldn't-but he is off at work, like it was no big deal (after sleeping in a little bit!)Before the ride- he started from our house and meet up with the group since we didn't live that far from the start.
That is him in the front, this is after about 60 miles of climbing, a lot of which was climbing that ridge you see in the background!

Riding through the orchards in Durham with only about 25 miles left to go!

Finishing at the fairgrounds!

Finishing strong! After he finished at the fairgrounds, he road his bike the 5 mile or so back home.

The stats- 100.03 miles, in 7hrs, 7minutes! I should have taken a picture of the screen that says his fastest speed- I think it was 49mph, his slowest was about 4mph climbing the hill they call the wall- (it is a monster I wish I had gotten a picture of it, but it is an old winding road, with no where to pull over and take pictures.) He averaged 14mph.
WAY TO GO RICHARD!!

A case of "Junie B."

SO Kenzie loves this series of books called Junie B. Jones. My mom sent her one last summer, and Kenzie thought it was so cool that her name was Jones, and the girl in the books last name was Jones, and ever since she has been hooked! So this morning she was all moody and said she didn't want to go to school. I asked her if she felt sick no- so what is wrong-

Kenzie-"I want to stay home and read"

Me-"You get to read at school"

Kenzie- "I want to read my Junie B. Jones"

Me-"Don't you have one you read at school during book conference time?"

Kenzie-"Ya, but I can't read the whole thing"

The conversation went on a bit more, but it came down to she wanted to stay home so she could read a whole Junie B. Jones book in one day. I thought it was hillarious that she wanted to stay home from school, so that she could read! Although I remember staying up way to late until I could finish a whole Nancy Drew when I was hooked to them! In fact I just stayed up Saturday night so that I could finish a book that I started around noon!

Is it really that simple?

Lately I have been feeling like life is just going by way to fast! Sunday I had this inspiration that I need to get up and start running in the park again. Weird thought I know, but we live next to the most beautiful park, and I really don't take advantage of it. So Monday I got up and went running the first time since before I was pregnant- lets just say there was a definite equal amount of walking, but still I got out there. It was so beautiful and peaceful and put me in such a good mood. SO I got myself up and going almost all week, so I could get in the park. Then today I went with my friend Alisa and her boys to see the geese and their babies at a little man made pond thing, then we walked around a little lake where we saw a bunch of turtles and some fish. Then tonight I took the kids on a walk in the park- Kenzie got so excited about seeing a lizard run across the path and her friend Kari was so excited about the foxtails, it just made me realize how much beauty there is in nature and how I really do miss it when I let life move to fast. What a great lesson I learned this week- it is okay to slow down and enjoy the simple things!

Andrew the Rock star

I stole this picture off my sisters blog- she was here in CA, visiting from Utah two weekends ago. I went to my parents to see her and her kids on two different days and forgot my camera on both?!? Anyway I had to share this one....Maybe he looks more like a mermaid?! I'm not sure, what do you think of the big boy seat?! I can't believe how big he is already-

So for all of you brave ones that left comments on my "free gift" post, I haven't forgetten about you, and I know what I want to make you all- I just need to get in gear and do it! So Deanna, Diane, Lesley, and Becky look for something soon coming your way!

CHocolate anyone?!

Richards Aunt and Uncle had a candy making business that they recently sold. They had some chocolate left over and gave Richards Grandma a 10lb bar for her birthday, I made some comment about loving dark chocolate now. So last week they show up at our house with a 10lb bar of dark chocolate?! It went in the freezer hopefully never to be seen again! (Yea right!!)

Miss Kenzie

Kenzie has been a busy girl lately. She has been working hard on her Science Fair Project. Her title was "Why do we have to wash our hands?" She had a lot of fun working on it, she did most all of it on her own, and was really excited to do it!Here she is with it on display at the school.I found this stuff online that you put on your hands, then wash your hands normally, and tou shine a black light on your hands to see how many of the "germs" you got off. Kenzie did it twice to show how your hands look after 15 seconds of washing, and after 1 minute of washing.
Then of course there is SOCCER- Kenzie really enjoys playing, she is not the most competitive nor the most athletic, but as long as she loves it and is having fun at this age we'll keep spending our Saturdays at the soccer field!
