Servant Leader

Been a while since I last penned my thoughts. During my reservist, things got very intense when trying to coordinate people. In the real world where human beings behave in a random manner, the difficulty in moving them towards certain unaligned goals may seem to be futile. After the second week where direction from above was unclear, dissent from below was rising, I clearly felt unappreciated and frankly, extremely tired. A role that I had no say in, thrust upon me 7 years ago. I had to seek the quiet grace and strength to move on. What I learnt was that being a leader does not equate to being a big shot. Long term planning while useful may face resistance from the ground, fast critical changes and decisions need to be made. I had to remain humble and treat everyone with humility although many times I was seething with anger towards the higher ups. I'm sure these experiences will help shape any future management decisions. For now I'm glad to gain back my otherwise very hectic life.
