a weekend in the BIG APPLE

ahhh, I don't know quite where to start. I GOT TO GO TO NYC LAST WEEKEND! I'm still a little shocked and amazed it all happened. Heidi, Monica and I decided to go see our friend Miki who lives out there and it happened to work out on my birthday.
So what a great way to celebrate!

Saturday Morning we took a run/walk all through central park and had breakfast. It was sooo beautiful, the leaves were changing & all the colors were so bright.

Here we are in Brooklyn.
Me, Miki, Heidi, Monica
It was so fun seeing Miki. She is a big time editor for the NY Times.
She does their travel pieces, I want her life!!! =)
Skyline of Manhattan.. hmmmm beautiful

Miki loves food as much as I do... and we ate some of the best food I've ever had. This cafe was called Little Giants in Soho. I ordered duck.. wow. it was so good, I wanted to cry.
I wanted to take pictures of all my food.

On Sunday we went to the Brooklyn Flea Market. It was under the Brooklyn Bridge and had tons of cool vendors. Here we are eating again..

Martha Stewart was there too, She was checking out all the amazing street food vendors. I was surprised at how nice she was. wow. I've always heard the opposite. but she couldn't have been nicer. We're going to be on her show in NOV!

yes, I did take a picture of some of my lunch. This was insane. ahhh so good. At the booth of Salvatore Bklyn--an vendor that makes its own ricotta cheese--little toasts with serrano ham, arugula, and peppered fresh mozzarella sell for a mere $3, and olive oil is poured over the top at the last minute. I wanted 10 of these, but I held myself back.

Miki lives in the upper West side. I loved her neighborhood. She has a really cool place. Thanks for having us Miki, we had the BEST time ever!!!!

Heidi, Miki, Me
we did a ton of shopping... ahhh
here we are sitting to take a break.

I loved the subway! we got lost the first day a few times and I couldn't believe how NICE everyone was. People were constantly helping us find our way.

Heidi & Heather
Here we drank milk chocolate at Mariebelle 's
too sweet for me, but it was good.
Here we are on the Staten Island Ferry. We got to see the Statue of Liberty!

getting ready to shop on Canal Street.

There was so much to see, I feel like it was hard to take it all in. I needed at least another week there. There were so many cool sights. I absolutely loved NY!!!

Thanks Ryan for watching the girls so I could go & Thanks again Miki for letting us crash at your place and for entertaining us all weekend!
I'll never forget it.

Now that summer is coming to a close, maybe I'll be a better blogger.. I'm hoping anyway.
Our family just got back from a fun vacation at our home away from home -SAN DIEGO. Ryan's family lives down there and we LOVE anytime we get to see them and enjoy paradise there.

We did so many fun things while we were there. We were there for almost two weeks so
to save you some time & boredom I'll just sharing some of our highlights. =)
Here we are at the San Diego Zoo. My girls love the zoo- especially with Grandma Kathy because she knows every last, little detail about EVERY animal. (i want to be you Kathy)

We got to spend a whole day at Magic Mtn. (while Kathy watched our kids)
We had soo much fun. It's been a while since I've rode all those huge, crazy roller coasters. We had the best time- until we went on a ride called "log jammers" that got us so wet.

My favorite part of the whole trip was just hanging out at Ryan's house with everyone. We loved playing around the world ping pong while Tyson played some good tunes. Happiness

Another fun day, we met up with our good friends the KANES.
We spent the day at the beach together. The girls had so much fun playing.. and I loved every minute catching up with Brooke. I miss her soooo much!
