A Big "Quilt-Trip"!

My Christmas gift to my sister this year was my first-ever quilt NOT made for an infant. The deal was that she got to pick out the fabrics, and I would attempt to make something purty!  More or less, we both succeeded (although the actual quilting could have gone better), and just as long as Julie doesn't stare or dwell on the quilting stitches for too long, I think she will love her new cuddle-blanket!

The fabrics that Julie picked out after MUCH deliberation!

Evan wanted to watch, but quickly learned that quilt-making is not really a spectator sport!

At 1:30 a.m. a couple weekends ago, the top is done!

"Yeah, yeah... super nice... Can I go to BED now?!!?"

Finally, after a lot of tugging and pulling through the machine,
and lots of help from Marcus with said tugging and pulling...
It's ready to go cuddle with Julie!!!

Happy New Year!!

New Years this year was spent up north with our family in Wisconsin. There was nothing amazing about the stroke of midnight this year of course... we were ALL asleep by that time! So, the highlights of New Year's was everything that happened around it.

On the way up, we took the "road trip" approach, and stopped at a few fun places before we made it to Grandma & Grandpa Fruehling's house.  First stop... the Rainforest Cafe in Gurnee Mills!  We had never been there before, and it was a hit (although a little more expensive than I liked)!

The "sky" above our table!

He wasn't a fan of the "storm" that happened every 20 minutes,
but the rest won him over!

This was as close to a smile as I was going to get, given all the stimulation in that place!!

Evan, "feeding" the local wildlife...
We also made our usual stops at the Cheese Castle and Jelly Belly...

"Aw, come on Dad!  I need more than ONE bag of jelly beans!"

He's pretending to be a train in the Jelly Belly shop...
Choo-choo!!
Stephanie, Tait and the kids also met us there.  The cousins got to be reunited, and the adults even got into the spirit with some "family game night" fun!  "Totally Insane Card Game"... look it up.  Best game ever!

The kids also got to have their Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa, and all were very pleased with what the grandparents picked out for them!  ...that included their very own hand-held Vtech game systems!

Nope.  They don't like them at. all.

Pretty Maya!

The girls in the PJ's I made them for Christmas this year.
A great time was had by all, and we had come super-duper exhausted kids in the end!  Here is the evidence... A great way to start 2012!  Happy New Year!!

Jolly Days

Children's Museum holiday decorations

Ready for a race down the giant slide!

"Ice" skating

Whoops!  Somebody slipped!

Nope... no power in the 'verse could make these two look at the camera and smile today!

The boys found the cute Dino-dig volunteer and decided to help HER.

Even Bumblebee is ready for the season

Bumble-E!

Oh, yeah!  I met Payton Manning!
