Successful Pudsey fair day.

The Leeds Doll and Teddy fair was a great success.
There was a large queue of collectors waiting to come in and find that special bear or doll.
We were kept busy all day.

I managed to sneak away to buy some mohair, only to be called back by my willing assistant to tell me that a lady wanted to have one of my rainbow bears commissioned.
Thank you to the collectors who adopted my bears.
I caught up and had a chat with a few old friends and made some new ones too.

We had a lovely day.

The fair is open from 10.30am until 4.00pm.

Sunday afternoons walk along the Leeds and Liverpool canal

We started our walk from our house approximately half a mile away from the canal; it is a pleasant walk along country lanes and past stone cottages.

We walked to the canal at Rodley and across the bridge on to the path. Quite a lot of barges are moored up between Rodley and Calverley bridge.

We passed the railway pub. I took forty-five photographs on our walk.

I love the smell of the wood burning stoves as you walk past the barges.

The Leeds and Liverpool canal follows the river Aire and the railway down the valley. We walked to Apperley Bridge and back

There are little white posts all the way along the canal with mile, half mile and quarter mile indicators on them.
Only 120 miles to Liverpool, so with my calculations its 127¼ miles from Leeds to Liverpool by canal.

It took us about two and a half hours to walk to Apperley bridge and back home. It was nice and sunny but very windy

Kirkstall Abbey

The weather was lovely today, I took a couple of bears to Kirkstall Abbey to photograph them.

I didn’t have time to visit the Abbey house museum.

The grass was carpeted with lilac and white crocuses, they looked beautiful.

The old cafe has been changed in to a visitors centre with little displays of the original buildings, showing how it looked when it was built.

I used to live within walking distance of Kirkstall Abbey. I must make time to visit again and take more pictures.

Panda monium

Here is my latest one of a kind creation, a little pand, named Mai Tai he is 13"(33cm) made from 1" long German shulte curly almost permed looking mohair in black and white colours.

He is filled with super polyester fibre, contains steel shot and pellets and has matching black ultra suede foot and paw pads, with black glass eyes and black and white eye surrounds.

Mai Tai has a black embroidered nose and is fully jointed and completely hand sewn. Available now,

He has not yet appeared on my web site, he is a little shy!

Spring is in the air!

Well after the cold winter and the snow, spring is finally in the air!
I have been out in the garden pruning and cutting back and looking to see what spring bulbs and plants are coming up. I have snow drops, miniature daffodils, primulars, hellebores and crocuses.

My hanging baskets need a bit of attention and I have to plant up my sweet peas.
I went to a well-known DIY store last weekend and bought some rhubarb to start my veg plot off. and 45 primulars, in "peaches and cream" colours.

The compost bin is nearly full, that will be great for digging in to add some goodness to the soil.
It has been raining most of the morning so I am now doing house work, well actually no I am on my pc thinking about house work!

I did bake a few buns from a recipe from a magazine "cappuccino coffee cakes with crushed meringue and cream on top" they looked lovely in the magazine.

I had already made "Eton Mess" trifle with the other four meringues for family dinner on Friday.

That recipe needed fresh strawberries, fresh raspberries, 4 meringue nests, vanilla ice cream and double cream (very low fat, I am a weight watchers gold member and have been for three years!)
It was lovely, but I added up the cost for a desert for seven people, it was almost eight pounds to make! I could have bought a nice expensive decorated cake for that, but it wouldn’t have tasted as nice! I didn’t take a photo.

Hugglets Winter Bearfest

I have finally got round to downloading my pictures from Hugglets Winter Bearfest,
We had a great day it went really quicky.

Thank you to everyone who adopted my bears.

It was good to catch up with other bear artists and collectors who I haven’t seen since September.

I did have chance to have a wander round and visit other stands I love to look around and see all the other bears, especially from the artists who travel from overseas.
I managed to buy some mohair to make more "Rainbow" dyed bears. They will be cut out and ready to dye up very soon.

Hi welcome to my blog my name is Kerren Morris,
I have been sewing since I was very young and started making bears in 1994. I have been creating and hand crafting mohair bears since March 1997.

The sizes of my bears range from 4"- 25". I really love making hand dyed "Rainbow bears" and traditional styled bears.

K.M.Bears have been adopted to UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Italy, France, Belgium, Japan & Switzerland.

My bears have been featured in the UK magazines.
I attend fairs in the UK, I had a great time at the Hugglets Winter bearfest!
