I decided that the blog didn't have to be ALL about the wedding. So I decided to update everyone on our everday life! Travis is still plugging away at the Sioux Falls School District as an HVAC technician and loving his job. Currently, I'm still in Omaha finishing up a 1 year residency at Creighton. Last month I was offered a position at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls and I was thrilled with the news. But probably not as thrilled as Travis. We are both excited to know that we will be staying around the Sioux Falls area and we are both looking forward to the end of June when I will be moving back. Another milestone in our lives came last week when we bought a house in Harrisburg. I have yet to see it but can't wait to have our own place to call home!

Save The Date!

Well now that the Save the Dates are out I guess I should do a better job at keeping this updated in case people actually look at it! My grandma reminded me this weekend that I hadn't posted anything on here recently....Thank you Grandma!



As far as updates, there's nothing too exciting. We have registered at Target, which turned out to be a much better experience then I pictured it to be. We also went to Carrow's last weekend and picked out tuxes, so groomsmen, if you happen to check this out, you can go get fitted any time, but for sure by August. Other than that, we just have a long list of stuff yet to be done!

Not much to update on. I did finally find bridesmaid dresses with the help of Brittany, Kali, my mom and my aunt Nancy. We are now looking at several photographers with hopes to get one booked before we run out of options. I think a majority of the important points are taken care. Now we need to decide on decorations for the church and the reception, music, scriptures, and other ceremony details. I can't wait to go home again to work on the more FUN details.

Cake and flowers - DONE!

Well my last trip home was a success! We got cake and flowers picked out and ready to be ordered! The next challenge - BRIDESMAID dresses! We were out shopping in Sioux Falls last time I was home and we were trying to pick out ribbons and various other decorations, and quickly realized that until I decide on bridesmaid dresses, I really don't know what color anything needs to be. So once again, I'll be heading out to various bridal shops to hopefully pick out a bridesmaid dress in time to receive the good February discounts the shops offer.

My mom, Brittany, Creighton, and Travis all came to Omaha this past weekend for the nice weekend and a trip to the zoo. While waiting for the weather to warm up, we decided to venture to a few stores. On a whim we stopped by Burlington Coat Factory and just happened to find the cutest dress that will be just perfect for the little flower girl - Haley!!

Tom and Teresa have also started planning the rehearsal supper - Travis and my favorite meal to make and eat at home - spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad at the McKennan Fitness Center following rehearsal!!

Fortunately, wedding plans have been falling into place rather smoothly - if only finding a job was this easy!

A weekend for details!

Well the planning is set to continue this weekend when I travel back home! We have appointments to taste cake and discuss flowers and plan on stopping by the Shrine to get some ideas for decorations and set up options. After all that, hopefully we'll all be up for a few stops at Hobby Lobby and various wedding boutiques in Sioux Falls. I just found out my veil has arrived so a quick stop at David's Bridal may have to be added into the plans! I now officially have my dress and veil but still have not decided on bridesmaid dresses or tuxes. I never thought I would have troubles with bridesmaid dresses, but there are more shades of orange available than I thought! Maybe I can drag Travis into the bridal stores to help with the decision - but I can just see us walking out with camoflauge vests for the groomsmen. We'll see how this weekend goes as far as plans....there's a lot to be done still! I'll update you soon.

Details, details, details

It's been awhile since I've updated you, but yes we are busy planning the wedding detail by detail. Luckily our parents are willing to help and have been doing just that. The ceremony will be at Prairie Hills Convenant Church in Sioux Falls, SD. We are still unsure of the time but will hopefully know more soon! We will then be moving to the El Riad Shrine (where my parents also had their wedding reception) for dinner and a dance party....you won't want to miss the Childress kids doing the chicken dance! My plans for future updates include: meet the wedding party, updating everyone on wedding plans, dinner menu, music requests for the dance, and possibly online RSVP. Stay tuned for future updates!
