exploring :: south gippsland railway...

Father's Day snuck up on me and I hadn't made any plans for this wonderful Dada.
I asked Huckle what we should do for "Happy Dada Day" and he muttered something about a train and fried rice. Hmmm. I said I'd see what I could do.
It was rather serendipitous then, that at a toilet stop on our way home the day before I noticed a sign for the South Gippsland Tourist Railway. Bingo!
Some sneaky research that night and I had me a plan.
We had such fun watching the countryside roll by. We saw wallabies, crazy train chasing dogs, waterfalls and endless rolling green.
I love adventuring with my boys.
If you're ever in our neigbourhood, I strongly recommend it. Jump on at Korumburra and hop off at Loch for a few hours fossicking through the antique stores, then catch the little blue wonder back again in the afternoon.

Have you caught a cute train lately?
What marvelous adventures do you have planned for the weekend?

Happy weekend folks.

06.07.07...

I've been meaning to write this story, for fear that time will take away the details.
A story of how I met my beloved...

Five years ago today, I walked into the Corner Hotel. Across the room was a tall, handsome man. He wore a motorcycle jacket, a Burny Guitar tshirt, black denim jeans and cowboy boots. We locked eyes as I made my way to the bar.
I was with my best friend, a girls night out to see Magic Dirt in the band room. Em and I sat at the bar and ordered a drink. We chatted with the bartender. The tall, handsome fellow and I continued to exchange glances. His eyes were intense, beautiful smiling eyes.
He made his way to the bar, my heart raced. He poured himself a water and went back to his friends. My heart dropped. He wasn't interested.
I went back to the conversation and a while after, we headed into the band room.
I didn't bother telling Em about the tall, handsome fellow that made my heart race. It was a girls night out, so I wasn't going to pursue anyone... no matter how handsome.
We were having a grand ol' time mucking about. The music was loud, Adelita was being just awesome. Toward the end of the set I saw him again. He was a few feet behind me, standing alone and drinking a beer.
Ever the idiot, something I did caused Em to give me a bit of a shove. Well that shove landed me almost atop of the tall handsome fellow. I didn't move, I couldn't. I was so close, I may have been standing upon his toes. He still didn't talk to me. I wasn't sure what to make of him. After a while, he gave me a nudge and gestured as if to say, "do you want a beer". I nodded. Halfway through the beer I asked him his name. I also asked him if he was a cowboy, did he really ride a motorcycle and did he really play guitar.
Two beers and minimal conversation later, I kissed him. I thought, if I don't show him that I'm interested then he may disappear into the night. He was most certainly the shy type.
After the gig we got talking and didn't stop until the early morn. I had insisted that we weren't to be separated, which had ended us back at his apartment. The next morning he made me tea and porridge and then left to fetch a car from the workshop to give me a lift home. Ever the gentleman. He returned with a black '81 porsche. I remember the car ride so clearly.
He dropped me off and we almost forgot to exchange numbers. It was as though everything was already so familiar, we had forgotten that we had only just met.
From then on we were inseparable. I cooked him dinner on the monday. He brought me gerberas. I told him never to buy gerberas again. It's best to be honest about these things.
A week later I met his extended family. I told his cousin I was going to marry him. Within two weeks we had decided it would be so and that we'd be together forever.
A month and a half later, he proposed... and I said YES!
And that is how this girl met her guy and is living happily ever after.
Love at first sight does exist. I know it to be true.
This is us at our engagement party.

What's your love story?

an autumn afternoon...

A few days ago, we took a walk.
Perhaps another very good reason for a pregnant lady to rest. We didn't make it all the way up the hill, for that would have been the end of me. Our little stroll took us to the farm on the corner and there were all sorts of wonders for the wondering.
Here I am posing. Must get more belly shots! I'm loving this stripey top at the moment, I wear it every second day (okay, maybe sometimes two days in a row). I think I've stretched it past capacity, it's wearing a little thin.
 Playing with my shadow.
Admiring that big bright sun and wishing it would stay for winter.
 Cute Charolais babies to see.
 Wedgetail eagles to spot.
 Two gorgeous boys for company.
One, who is fascinated with shadows and who they belong to.
Seriously cute. Gosh, I love this boy.
I hope you've been having adventures of the most adventurous kind lately.
Wandering and wondering is so good for the soul.
It helps me push through the not so nice to see that there is lots of good in my everyday.
Does it help you too?

It's Friday, almost the weekend! Make it wonderful, won't you. x

seaside adventures...

It seems that my body isn't coping too well with being 36 weeks full. So I'm on a spot of bed rest (albeit on the couch) until I rebuild a bit of energy. Perhaps last weeks adventures wore me out a little more than I thought. But with the sun shining bright in the sky, how can one resist being out amongst it.
The seaside called us down to play and we enjoyed a few hours of exploring the rockpools and making (and smashing) sandcastles.
There are some impressive stairs down to this beach, I think perhaps they might be a culprit of my achy-ness. Hmmm...
Well, my brain has just frozen and I have no more words.
Huckle has just woken from his nap too.
Happy Thursday dear people.

weekended...

Another weekend has flown by, here are some snippets of what we've been up to.
I promise this blog isn't going to be all Ironwood and Eaglesmith. It's consuming our lives at the moment, so there's not much else to write about I'm afraid.
We spent Friday and Saturday organising the gallery. On Sunday we ventured to a local clearance sale at a local engineers workshop. We found some amazing pieces to add to the gallery. Tomorrow we're off to Horsham to pick up a special little truck for I & E. He's very cute, and yes Uncle Warwick... he's a Bedford, a 1953 TA. We're loyal around these parts.
The business cards have arrived and are looking suitably old school.
Our shop counter has been designed and is waiting to be built. I'm using my old set of drawers to hold stationery and my roll of brown paper fits the paper dispenser perfectly.
I'm slowly getting around to photographing all of our vintage curiosities. Many of which will be for sale when we open.
Samuel has been restoring some beautiful vintage axes and making leather sheaths for their shiny sharp heads.
So that's about all around these parts.
I'm very excited that it's Easter this weekend. I'm by no means religious, but I do love an excuse to bake delicious treats. We'll be making hot cross buns and maybe some marshmallows too.
April is upon us, which I'm trying to get my head around. How the months just fly by. Huckle is two at the end of the month and in about six weeks we'll be joined by a sweet new babe!
Oh my, there is so much to do before then!
Have a gorgeous week. x

two years...

Two years ago I married this handsome man.
It's been two years of love, laughter & so much more.
In these two years we've moved to the country, been on several (ie. I've lost count) mad car/bike/chicken/alpaca/etc acquiring adventures & had a beautiful baby Huckle.
I wonder what is in install for us for the years to come.
I do know that we'll be by each others side the whole way, with Huckle in tow & that makes me truly happy.
Happy Anniversary my love.
I love this shot.
The wedding car... our old '48 Bedford & a mates bsa on the back.
We got a few looks that day.

a boy & his brew...

The labels have been applied to the boys home brew, a little bit of midnight modge podge at the kitchen table.
They're currently winging their way to Mr Eastwood himself. We hope he likes them. The home brew & the labels that is.
I do love a little JV on the DL with my man. Joint venture on the down low that is for you hip folks out there. I love the expression, we've knicked it from a friend. He won't mind I'm sure.
Gotta run, Huckle has just discovered the cardboard box full of cardboard to be recycled. Huckle heaven! Uh oh, it's now all over the floor!

one year...

One year ago I said these words:

Samuel, I love you more than anything & I am so proud to be your wife. You give me constant love, support & inspiration. I feel happy & complete when I am with you.

I promise to love & support you in our life together. Whatever life may bring, I will be by your side.

I am lucky to be marrying my best friend & I give you all my friendship in return.

I Kitty, take you Samuel to be my husband, knowing in my heart that you will be my constant friend, partner in life & my one true love.

One year ago, I married the man of my dreams & haven't looked back. These words still ring true in my heart & will do forever. It was the most perfect day, a beautiful start to our journey.

Thank you Samuel for a great year together. We've travelled, moved to the country, created our first baby & been through sickness & hardship. Through all this, our love has continued to grow stronger & I look forward to the many more adventures we will share.
Happy Anniversary my love. I am the luckiest girl alive.
