Boston

Last week I was able to go to Boston with my Mom and sister. My sister and I originally planned the trip. She had a free flight she had to use by the end of November through Southwest. The flight worked for Boston. We kept bugging my Mom to join us and she finally caved! I know she was happy she did! It was so fun to just spend 5 days with just us girls. Boston was awesome, beautiful, very historical and oh so COLD! I always imagined it was like Colorado - but 55 degrees & sunny in CO is a nice day... 55 degrees in Boston is still freezing!

The first night at dinner. We ate some amazing food in Boston!

We quickly learned how to use the Subway. It was a bit confusing, stinky, and busy most of the time but very convenient!

The first day we went over to Cambridge and Harvard Campus. Lucky for us there was still plenty of leaves on all the trees. It was very beautiful!
Hoping to get lucky from this foot!

Making my sister and Mom play in the leaves!
That night we went to Mike's Pastry for cannoli's - we decided that none of us really like cannoli's!

The next day we filled our bellies with Brunch...
And then headed out for a long walk all around Boston. First up was the Public Garden - absolutely beautiful!!!

Boston Common...

We wandered over to Beacon Hill - in my dreams I would live here! They still have the original gas lamps for street lights that are always lit, not to mention the cobblestone and brick walkways everywhere - very charming!
Then we walked the Freedom Trail. The old cemeteries were amazing! This was the Granary Burying Ground...

Old State House...
Park Street Church...
Massachusetts State House...
King's Chapel...
Later that day we took a Duck Tour of Boston...

The next couple of days we rented a car and ventured outside of Boston to check out some sites. First up, was Plymouth, MA. Here we are in front of a replica of the Mayflower the Pilgrims came over in...

It was surprising how much emotion and a sense of gratefulness was brought on just by seeing this rock...

Old Cemetery in Plymouth overlooking the Ocean...
First Church in Plymouth

We then headed to Newport, RI to check out the ridiculously big Mansions of the Rich from the early 1900's. The "Breakers" is incredible to walk through and the view wasn't too shabby either!

The next day we headed North of Boston. First up was Concord, MA. We had to stop and see Walden Pond. It was freezing! But very beautiful!!!

We checked out where some of the Emersons' lived...
And the Home that inspired "Little Women"...
Then we visited "Old North Bridge" where the Americans first fired on the British. It was very moving place to visit!
We went over to Lexington Square to visit the place where the Revolutionary War began...

Then we made a quick stop in Salem...
And finally we made our way to Cape Ann. First we went to Halibut Point Reservation. It is an old Granite Quarry. It looks out right onto the Ocean. It was so breathtaking, but we were freezing our buns off and couldn't really stay to enjoy it very long!

We then went to the Harbor/Beach...

Our last morning in Boston, we go some pictures at the lookout at the top of our Hotel...
It was so much fun to spend these 5 days with my Mom and sister. I can't wait until we can do something like this again!!!
