Three Little Birds

Last weekend, while in Santa Cruz, my mom and sister stumbled upon this cute little store called "Three Little Birds" in Capitola. Of course, they had to return to take me. It sold home goods and jewelry. They knew I would love it because it had a very similar vibe as Anthropologie, but with about a third of the cost. Obviously, I had to buy almost everything I thought was cute since I won't be returning until next Memorial weekend.

The cutest ring I have ever owned!
An adorable tablecloth
The perfect vase for a few flowers
A little soap dish with lemon shaped soap
A bird candle

Whale Watching

Well, Eric and I finally went whale watching. We have wanted to go since we moved here and I have looked into going multiple times, but nothing ever worked out. We didn't have anything going on this past Saturday so I booked it. We went out to the Farallon Islands and then onto the Continental Shelf. We saw one gray whale and one humpback whale. It doesn't seem like it was that successful of a trip, but I guess we were lucky to see the two of them. We got up close and personal with the humpback whale and he even breached for us. I guess this is fairly uncommon when they are in "eating" season. They usually do this during "mating" season to show off for the ladies. It was really cool to watch. It was freezing cold, even with the thermal, hoodie, winter coat, scarf, gloves and winter socks. Eric and I both have pretty strong stomachs, but we got queasy near the middle of the trip. Luckily, neither one of us threw up.

Some of My Favorite Things...

Some of my friends have posted their favorite things on their blogs. I love reading these posts, because it gives me good ideas on things to try. I thought I would share my favorite things with all of you!

First and foremost on my favorite list are pajama pants from Anthropologie. They have super wide legs that make them the most comfortable pajamas I have ever had. I love them! My favorite brands are Lilka and Saturday/Sunday.I usually watch the sale racks and get them when they are half off.My second item comes from Anthropologie as well. My friend Jocelyn introduced me to this candle that seriously is the best thing I have ever smelt. The fragrance is Capri blue and I could inhale it all day long! It used to only come in bright colors, but now they are selling it in more fashionable containers. I have a few of these in my house! My next item I discovered at the place I get my eyebrows waxed. The girl gave me samples of the different lotions Lollia makes and I fell in love with WISH. It smells super yummy and it moisturizes my hands. I have also seen it at Anthropologie. My last favorite comes from MAC makeup. Although I have a ton of stuff from them, I love their Lusterglass lip gloss in the shade of Love Nectar. It gives a good shine to your lips without a lot of color - just what I like!

Camping in Santa Cruz

It is sort of a family tradition to go camping at New Brighton Beach in Santa Cruz every Memorial Weekend. The campsite it right by the beach and it has all the amenities I require for camping - running water, flushing toilets, and hot showers. My sister and I headed up first on Thursday to set up camp and go shopping. We also got to enjoy the only really warm day - it was beautiful! We tried to enjoy the beach as much as possible - but I am afraid it was no swimsuit weather!

Brady and Jocelyn were able to join us for one of the days that we were there. We went to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to enjoy some very fattening food and thriller rides!
My brother Chad and his wife Ashlie flew out from Phoenix to join us. It was great to have the whole family together! And finally, but definitely not least, we took Rocco camping for his first time. He loved it! He got to sleep with us at night (which he never gets to do), he got to play in the dirt and sand all day long, he had people slipping him snacks constantly, and he got to go in everyone's tents whenever he wanted! He almost slept for 24 hours straight after the trip - he was so exhausted!

TKO - don't even ask me what that stands for!

TKO is an honor society at Eric's Dental School. Apparently it is a big deal to be accepted into it, but I had other feelings about it. Eric proudly brought the letter home and read it to me. Once they mentioned the cost of the fees and going to the event($150), I was feeling more annoyed than proud. But...I tried really hard to get over that initial reaction and be proud of my husband for all of his hard work in dental school(which I really am!). They had a dinner and ceremony for all the students that were being accepted. It was fun - well, minus the long ceremony; and I got to dress up! Eric, congratulations! I really am proud of you!

Enjoying a Sunny Weekend in S.F.

My parents came down last weekend and they got to share the rare warm weather in San Francisco with us. We went to a Giant's game Friday night and we enjoyed a beautiful view of the bay with clear skies. It was so nice to wear a short sleeve shirt and not be cold (for those of you who live in S.F. you know this doesn't happen often at nighttime).

Eric and I never go to a Giant's game without indulging ourselves with some garlic fries - oh, they are so yummy! We were able to check another item off our "S.F. To Do List" this weekend, as well. We went to the Haight & Ashbury area and did a little shopping. It is always entertaining to people watch in this kind of neighborhood in San Francisco!
