Isaac loves finding cool shaped leaves everywhere and ensures they are properly documented for posterity.
Addy got pretty good at the campstove, here playing the part of serious chef stirring the evening stew.
Black River Falls was a surprisingly cool town with lively mainstreet. Some guys were touching up this spraypaint mural before the weekend car show.
Showing off his blue tongue from Superman ice cream, but can't open the eyes because it is soooo sunny!
Castle Mound hike was a big hit. Awesome limestone towers in a old growth pine forest.
Ella was eating dirt (usually that was on a snack that she dropped) at all times. But was soooooo happy about it all. She is an outdoorsy baby for sure.
Cool limestone cliffs
Any arborists out there able to identify this type of pine?
Thank goodness this hike had a short approach before getting to the fun parts. Isaac loves cool hikes, but needs a constant supply of snacks to get through the boring parts :)
Deluxe dining at Castle Mound State Park.
Up at 6am and ready to play!
Double thumbs up for this sunset from the Walmart parking lot!
Camping Breakfast with a Toddler - a series.
Despite being uber-hot the 1st night, this campsite was really great and kids loved running around the place.
Ella exploring how to use the floppy-carpet thing at playground. I think this is pretty much the right way.
Isaac taking selfies on the drive home. Only had ~40 variations of this pose!
At least these 2 know how to sleep in while camping.
Thanks goodness for this little foldup toddler seat - it managed to keep her in one place!
Delicious ice cream from the General Store in Black River Falls. Building was erected in 1912 as a shoe store. Original counter and ceiling tiles still in place.
Not sure if they had neon Superman ice cream in 1912....
Cooling off at Lake Wazee. Perfect water temps & not crowded, especially after the thunderstorm rolled through.
At top of Castle Mound they had an old fire lookout tower with cool half-ladder-half-stairway to reach the top. Isaac's career goals now include Fire Lookout Guy.
Hooray for the Kelty baby backpack!
The limestone cliffs were carpeted with beautiful ferns, such a fun place!
Hobo-dinner time!
Who says camping can't include a mani pedi?
Back in Libertyville, this is the scene at Addy's swim lessons. Thank goodness for the glass door keeping Ella contained. She wants IN to that water!
Caught all 3 kiddos on the tire swing - Ella's finally big enough to hold on :)
Dad at work, desk covered in treasures delivered by various children.
