I was born and raised in Abilene, Tx. Graduated from Abilene High. Woodlawn Church of Christ is my home congregation, where my dad serves as an elder. I am a graduate of Lubbock Christian University. I have a wonderful loving wife and boys who are the greatest blessing and joy in my life. A number of periodicals will accept submissions, but not many will pay for unsolicited articles. It's not strictly Christian, but http://www.freelancewriting.com/ can give you an idea of the market.
As for the book, you may want to start with an agent rather than a publisher. That's become something of the norm these days.
