Fa-Who Rae-Who

I love Christmas and it is all I want to think about... I have only one more final. I'm not done with shopping and we are doing our little Christmas with Aurora before we head out to Texas (on Christmas eve!) So I need to get that finished.

Here are a few Christmas photos

Advent

I ordered this advent calendar I really like it it is simple and elegant and I can put anything in there scriptures, figurines, or candy I am excited to start a new tradition in our family.

and My tree is already up but well be gone a few days during Thanksgiving week (and for a week during Christmas In Texas!!!) and we have a lot of work coming up so I put it up at the best time for me.

Still not even close to being done with Christmas gifting... I try to get a head start on these things but school has been time consuming.

I has been a while

I'm not a great blogger.. especially during the school year.

This semester has ended up being more stressful than I anticipated. To reduce the stress and save money I will graduate a semester later than I had hoped. So Gerald and I will graduate at the same time! And this way I can spread out the class load so I'm not taking 16-18hrs
every semester and this way I can spend more time with Aurora and on my assignment and hopefully make better grades. This semester I have written a paper a week sometimes three. I made a bug collection (I am pretty proud of it and I will post some pictures of it) I am finalizing a weed collection (this will take hours and days to finish) and a plant disease collection (due in December).

I had been neglecting the state of my house for a while being so caught up in running us all around for school. So on Tuesday I cleaned out our bedroom and threw out a bunch of crap (only mine..Gerald is a pack rat). I put our bed on its frame (It hasn't been on it the entire time we have been in Utah). Gerald did our laundry! I've been better about setting time aside to do the dishes and pick up. I tended to all of my plants (repotting, grooming, watering etc..) Plus our home teachers showed up on Sunday so that is always a good reason to clean the house.

I have made time for holidays and crafts. This is my fall Thanksgiving project.
I love all the Holidays and I have already started listening to Christmas music and It drives gerald crazy. He will love it even more when I put the Christmas stuff out a week before Thanksgiving!

I have been forgetting that it is Halloween on Saturday(I've been thinking about Christmas so much).... but we have a few parties to go to so we are all dressing up. Gerald=Wolverine(it is adorable how excited he is for this),Me=Chick from Star Trek, Aurora=Little red ridding hood. She can say "trick or treat" and "halloween" pretty well. I think we are going to have a lot of fun.

So I think that I have been thinking about Christmas so much for a few reasons
1. The semester will end!!!!!!!
2. we are going to Texas!!!!!
3. I love Christmas decorations
4. I love giving gifts
5. I love Christmas music
6.I love Christmas cookies

pumpkin craft

Last Sunday I was looking at a friend's facebook page and she had posted some pictures of adorable pumpkins she had made. I had to make them too so I called up my dear friend Ali and we got together last week and made them.

Gerald doesn't think they look like pumpkins. I love them and it was the first real project I did with my sewing machine I got for Christmas last year. I am excited for super saturday in October I love crafting and I get to make some cute Halloween and Christmas stuff.

In other news, I am getting ready for a interiorscape conference in Las Vegas this week with my professor Norah and some excellent peeps from my major. We are volunteering for the conference so we get to greet people and help set up displays, network, eat, learn and play.  We are going to tour the Wynn and the Bellagio hotels and we are going to see blue man group. Hopefully I get to see my sister Rainey. So I have been cleaning and packing all night!

Special thanks to Holly for watching Aurora so I can go on this trip a lot less stressed, and of course to Gerald who supports me and my college adventures.

August

This morning I woke up from dreaming about filling Easter baskets ... and Gerald says my dreams are boring.

So a week or two ago I was looking online for crafts for super saturday and saw something similar to this on a blog and decided to make my own Halloween shadow box. I really like how it turned out. Now I want to make one for every holiday! I've been feeling crafty and I love holidays.

......................................................................................................
This is friday morning when my Parents left to go back to Texas. They were out here dropping my sister mo off to college. It was so great to see them even thought it was for only two days and I always get emotional when they leave. So I was upset for the most of the morning and later in the afternoon we got plane tickets to come home for a week durning Christmas. I am so excited although we are not excited to fly with Aurora again.

............................................................................................

We are kinda going in a countdown order of the way things happened this month. I gave Aurora a hair cut earlier this month. She wiggles so much  but I am getting better and the moving haircut I cut her bangs pretty short *(visible in picture with my parents). But they grow fast and were in her eyes and she doesn't let me clip it out of the way very often so they had to go.

....................................................................................................

One of my very best friends graduated and walked this August and afterward we had a girls day with Ali, Kathi(ali's mother-in-law and my former seminary teacher and good friend) and Ali's other bestie Jess. I was so much fun we went out to eat, got pedicures, saw the Time traveler's Wife, and met up with the boys for dinner. I was so fun to just hang out with girls and be pampered and kathi was amazing and paid for everything. Many thanks to Kathi!

..........................................................................................

And A few weeks ago I got together with some friends, Heather and Kim, from Texas and we went out to dinner one last time. Kim (Picture above right) has moved to California with her brilliant husband who will be attending Stanford law school. She has been great we were in the ward together here and for a while she was the only reason we went to church, Aurora would behave better when she was with Kim and Sam. She will be missed and hopefully we cross paths again soon.
..........................................................................................
we watch a show on the Disney Channel called Phineas and Ferb and Aurora always dances to the title sequence. She cracks us up.

More Summer Stuff

These are some photos and a video from mostly this week but some are from a few weeks ago.

I removed a tree this week at work. Chainsaws get heavy after a while...

Gerald sends Aurora with little baking mixes to me...a lot. SO tonight I let Aurora help she is such a big girl now. She poured all the ingredients in (not the eggs) and stirred it was so cute.

Hanging out in the big bed.

She is a big fan of her daddy

Hanging out with one of the cutest coolest kids we know Mr. Jack Flanagan.

Some days are like this one where Aurora wont get out of her pajamas or will try to get back into them herself.

Aurora using the "gift" her excellent dexterity and use of her toes if from my mom's side of the family.

Summer

It has been a good summer, we made it back to Texas and had a hard time with Aurora adjusting back to our Utah life. She has been difficult for the past month but we are making progress on her behavior. She's in a toddler bed now and she only naps about one day out of the week. It been really hard on Gerald since he is with her the most, while I've been working on grounds during the weekdays this summer. The picture above is from a friend who took a ton of pictures of Aurora at the park I love them. I have a little summer project to scrap a little book for the grandparents with these pictures.

We are going to Las Vegas the first weekend of August for my niece's baptism. It will be great to leave provo for a bit but it will be so HOT. And at the end of August right before school starts my parents will be dropping little sister maureen off so we get to see them for a few days!

Excited for school to start just for the fact that we will be one semester closer to being done.

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our 4 year anniversary! It's gone by pretty fast. We have lived in 4 different apartments. We have our little girl Aurora who is so freaking crazy right now. but we love her still.

The other day I was asking some co-workers about what places there are here to eat that they would recommend and one guy responded with "how long have you been married? Four years man it doesn't even matter" but it matters to me. If you stop celebrating at four years what does that say about how we view our marriage? And we're not trying to go all out for it... we just want to celebrate it. We don't go out as much as we would like to anyway.

I guess it's a great day to get married because there are several weddings today that our friends are attending. So we had a hard time finding a baby sitter but we got a baby sitter for this afternoon and went to the movies and saw Star Trek it was great and we went to get some frozen yogurt afterwards. We are going to dinner tonight and have located an awesome baby sitter. So hopefully Aurora is great so we don't have to worry about her.

I'm grateful for Gerald and his support in our lives. I love him so much. Happy anniversary to us!

Homemade Pass Along

When I got home from Texas I had a package waiting for me and I love getting mail! It was from my friend Chelsea it was the cutest thing she had made a bunch cards for every different occasion. Its a homemade pass along, My friend Holly did it on her old blog and I was So disappointed to not be chosen but I am so happy to have the chance now to do it myself. It should keep me busy the rest of the summer.

So, here's how this game works-the first 5 people to leave a comment on this post will receive, at some point during the next couple of months, a handmade gift from me. What it will be and when it will arrive is a total surprise! The catch is that you must participate as well. Leave your comment, then write up a pay it forward post on your blog to keep the fun going. Now sit back and anticipate the arrival of your gift! Remember, only the first five get a gift.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

We are getting ready to go to Texas tomorrow for my friends wedding. With Gerald being on the plane with us it should go easier than the last time I flew with Aurora. We are packing right now. We are so looking forward to 11 days without working. We are excited to see everyone, I am especially excited to see my new little nephew Roman. We will even be there for his blessing. We are hoping to get some good Texas grub and hopefully see the team we all hate to Love.... the Astros.

I will be hard to come back to Provo but when we do I'll post lots of fancy pictures.

New camera

My little camera broke after about 2 1/2 years :( it was one of the best gifts Gerald got me. We were planning on getting a new one anyway with my new position as Historian in the BYU Landscape management club. But I have missed out on some cute photo's of the kid so hopefully it will be here tomorrow in time before our trip to Houston just one week away!
It's a Nikon Coolpix L100 Black 10MP Digital

If only we could get the D-SLR Aston has been pimpin' out.

Whine Flu

This picture was taken Easter afternoon she was very sweet that day...

She hasn't been sweet lately lots of screaming and whining and her new favorite combo of words "no want" (with a little wave of the hand) makes us so angry but we still love the kid. We are all getting over our colds so we decided to go out tonight. I think I am the only one who has been out of the house longer than 5 min but thats because of work. so after making dinner we went to few stores and got some ice cream and Aurora was sweet and went to bed easy. I think we all just really need to get out more and we will all go to bed easier.
It has been nice to get a break from school and just work and spend time with each other. I have lots of projects and goals planned! We shall see how that goes.

Aurora's Birthday (A little Late)

A week after I got back from California we celebrated Aurora's 2nd Birthday. We reserved the clubhouse and decorated it spongebob like. It was pretty laid back. We had a little rock band going on and some pretty good food and friends.

We had a 7ft sandwich and it was delicious.

I made this pineapple out of scrapbooking paper it was pretty fancy.
(It's spongebob's home)

Aurora had so much fun with Steve & Sarra's little girls. She just loves other little kids. She will follow them and mimic almost everything they do.

Aurora is 2 now and she is pretty crazy we love her so much. She is pretty talkative we still don't understand all of it but we figure out a new word everyday it seems.

Cal Poly Student Career Days 2009

I was in California a week ago for about a week and it was amazing. Gerald had Aurora the whole week and they survived with the help of friends and uncle P.j.. Gerald said it was the worst week of his life but i had a great time

Here I am watching/cheering an event. BYU took 4th place (BYU idaho took 1st). I didn't compete this year but I will next. I was able to interview with a company in Dallas and establish contacts with other companies for when we move back to Texas. I learned a lot and had so much fun. I can't wait for next year.

We went to the redlands Temple on Sunday and had an amazing mexican dinner that night.

We went to Huntington Gardens the next day it is amazing and HUGE. I have so many pictures of it but this is one of my favorite things I found there. I plan on building one when we get a house it is a metal framed house with ivy and other vines growing all over it give new meaning to "greenhouse". It had little tables and chairs inside its a perfect alternative to a tree house. I figure I could have tea parties in there too.

We also saw the L.A. Temple my parents were sealed there and it is so big and the grounds look great.
This is a King Protea (i'm pretty sure) there are so many varieties of the protea and this one was about the size of my head.  We were able to visit the L.A. Floral Market and it is an amazing place with so many beautiful flowers at great prices.

We also went to the beach and in-N-out burger twice but no jack-in-the-box which I love and will be having when I am in Houston in less than 2 months.

I rode home in a BYU van and got back by 4pm last wednesday the people that rode on the bus didn't get back till 9:30PM!!! I made a good choice. I can't wait for next year! and it will actually be on my birthday.

bath time

I just gave Aurora a bath and as the water was draining Aurora noticed her feet. She said "oh no" I thought she was hurt but she just noticed he feet were pruney. and she kept playing with them for about ten minutes.... It was funny to me

There is no place like home

Man we sure do miss Houston! Well it is about time I write about mine and Aurora's trip to the motherland.

It all began on a Thursday morning Aurora and I headed off to the airport only to find out our flight had been delayed! Well I kept Aurora entertained as long as I could thankfully the good people at the SLC airport are smart enough to have a playground in the airport it was very close to our gate too. I tried to give her benadryl but she was too excited even thought she was exhausted (I even tried it out the day before to see if she would sleep) and didn't sleep at all. The time passed quickly (probably not for the guy next to us). When there were 20 minutes left  on the flight Aurora screamed her little head off and I was getting very claustrophobic by the end. My dad was waiting for us and Aurora fell asleep on the drive to my parents house. We spent the night hanging out  with my mom, dad, and Maureen and catching up I got to meet Bria and see Connor and Jen. It was great.

The next morning my dad took Aurora and I to Fry's and bought us a little webcam so we see everyone more often. We then met my mama at work and went to lunch at Jakes grill I had an amazing hamburger. My dad then took us to target where he bought Aurora a little Elmo toy that she picked out and loves and my dad being the proud irish-american that he is bought me an Ireland shirt so I could celebrate Saint Patties properly. We then played outside with our old cat Hiss and some bubbles. Aurora loved it we haven't been able to go outside and play in a long time.
Look at the Blonde hair

Aurora and Hiss (that is our cats name)

Friday evening Diana, David , Liam and little Violet dropped by to visit with us! I was so excited to meet Violet, but she was not as excited as I was but at the end of the visit I was feeding her a bottle and she is so adorable. Later I drove out to Granny Smith's house to see Aurora's Grandpa Randy and Grandma Kathryn, Aunt Valerie and Uncle Kevin of course Granny and Barbara and to our surprise Keith and Ginger were there too and so was Logan(aurora's 2nd cousin). We had fried chicken and salad and potatoes so great. Aurora was a little shy but by the end of the night she was fist bumping it with everyone.

Saturday: We got ready in the morning to meet up with Grandma Dawn and Grandpa Stan, Valerie and Kevin, Mama Sharon and Mama 'Dean and Heidi(Gerald's Aunt). We went to a park in Pearland and Aurora warmed right up to Heidi. Grandma and Grandpa spoiled Aurora thoroughly with stuffed animals and good food and Bubbles! Then it started raining (kinda expected for Texas) but the temperatures cooled and it was still great for us to be able to get together with family.  Aurora went down for a nap very quickly that afternoon and my Mom took me shopping and I got the cutest gray dress and a brown skirt. I wore the gray dress to our friend Lories wedding reception that night. The food was amazing but it is hard to eat while chasing Aurora so we got some Jack in the Box tacos on the way home. I had been craving since we moved. Where we live in Utah doesn't believe in the goodness of Jack in the Box! and my brother Ryan and his expecting wife Amber came over. Ry had forgotten that I was coming to town. After a nice visit we called it a night.

Sunday: at about 8 am Lorraine, Gene and all her kids came to my parents we all got ready for church and got to see Connor's little baby get blessed it was really nice and I got to see a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a while. We went home and soon we were enjoying brisket and so many other great foods. I love not having to plan meals or cook for myself and everything tasted great. We hung out all night and I tried to get our stuff ready to leave the next day.

Monday: we made lunch/tea plans with Diana She really wanted me to see her house it is lovely even with all the sharpie and crayon art by Liam on the wall. The food was great, I talk about food a lot! It was hard to leave but we had to finish packing. I almost took an extra suitcase home but I managed to get almost everything into the suitcase. It was even harder leaving and saying goodbye after that. My flight was delayed again but Aurora was super tired and screamed the entire time before we boarded our plane we had a very kind stranger (turns out to be a BYU Law professor) help us as best she could and then we had to sit and wait on the plan for 20 minutes while we waited our turn on the runway. Meanwhile Aurora is screaming (but this time we had the seat next to us free) then falls asleep before we even take off. She woke up and did really well the rest of the flight she even fell asleep during the landing. Then Kathryn the Law professor helped us all the way to passenger pick up. It was so great to see Gerald and to be home, we were both really missing him. Next time we go to Texas it will be with gerald and I think travel will be much much easier.

Violet right before we left to go pack and leave. she is so smily!

little Lucian he was so sweet all weekend chilling with is mom. He is a little dreamboat.

adorable Bria she is a great calm baby Connor brought her over everyday I was so happy to see her and Aurora had fun with her.

It was a wonderful trip and it was hard to leave I am so ready to be back there! But the weather was great so maybe I wont be saying that in the summer. Aurora seemed to just grow up this trip she was so funny. I can't wait to get back, there was so much that I wanted to do and people to see but there is just no time. My mom seemed great it was right after a treatment and she was feeling better than normal so we came at a great time. We will be back in June hopefully for a longer visit.

"here you go"

Aurora is so much fun these days. She is hilarious, she sings theme songs of tv shows like Handy Manny  it sounds something like "man, man, man, man, man, man" and Mighty B she tries really hard to say "bee, bee, bee, bee" in the same tune. Some of the words that she uses other than mom and dad are "spongebob, more, please, thank you, light, no, bath, bye, jump, 'welcome, done, and amen (she also shouts YAY and claps after prayers), and phrases like "see you later" and "here you go" I love it, she is really starting to mimic our actions. little scary.

So I bought a plane ticket home for the weekend of Valentine's day it is the last 3 day weekend we have this semester and no spring break so I thought I should take advantage of that and Aurora flying for free. We haven't been home in over a year. Gerald is staying in Provo to keep our jobs and I know its Valentines but we would have both been at work all weekend even on presidents day. Well I am excited for everyone to see her and get to know her again and I get to meet my new nieces (& maybe my nephew?)

its across not acrossed

I am very tired of the miss pronunciation of the word across in this state *Utah*. Acrossed!? there is no -ed or -t at the end of across and there never will be so just say it right because it/you sound(s) dumb when -ed is added.

Christmas 2008

Christmas morning Aurora noticing the presents she was so cute that morning and so sweet she woke up and ate then we tried very hard to get daddy up but he just kept sleeping. I was set on starting without him but then my parents called to tell us Merry Christmas and to talk to us on a webcam my mom got one for Christmas and my dad thought we had one(even though I clearly said we were going to get one and that we did NOT have one yet the last time I spoke to him I ordered one on line the day after Christmas and we should get it tomorrow) and once I got off the phone we were all ready to get started.

Aurora didn't know what to do so we started to help her open her gifts. Gerald wanted to do stockings before he opened any of his gifts so we did that and that was so much fun. Stockings are my favorite part of Christmas morning. We had a Christmas Elmo dvd in Aurora's stocking along with yogurt melts, Jacob's ladder, a harmonica, and a frog magnifying glass she had a good time with those. Well Aurora was being so cute playing with each gift for a while we kinda started rushing to open her gifts and then we slowed it down. She was playing with them right away there was no need to rush we didn't finish opening her gifts until after lunch and her nap.

Daddy helping Aurora open her gifts she is very excited.

Aurora talking on her phone from her grandma Dawn

Aurora Playing with her guitar from my mom and dad. Aurora got some great gifts 3 baby dolls, play food (she makes eating noises and pretends to eat them!) plastic play kitchen utensils and bowls. A little peoples minivan that she loves to push around. A Christmas book, And the cutest clothes thank you Mom, Dawn, and Ali! The three of you keep Aurora clothed.

Gerald opening a gift.

A new shirt! We also got him Sword and the Stone, Iron man, Batman The Dark Knight, a How To Draw Comics book. 20 Q's sports edition, Arby's gift card, a G.I. Joe. And we got Rock Band 2 as a family gift and it is wonderful. Our parents gave monetary gifts to us which is always appreciated and extremely helpful at the beginning of a new semester. Gerald was so cute and happy with his gifts and the entire day. He said he had one of the best Christmas's ever.

Gerald filled my stocking with Tales of Beedle the Bard, the movie Hancock, Phase 10, and candy!

My Sewing machine that I bought myself on Black Friday. I set it up just yesterday and i am so excited to use it. My first project will be to make Aurora a little dress.

My cute shoes Randy bought me during his visit. I love them I wear them all the time! I also received an adorable hat from Rachael, a sewing box from Ali, my sister Rainey sent us a gift card and some great stuff from bath and body works

......................................................
After we opened presents and ate breakfast we got ready and headed over to Bryce and Ali's to have a Christmas lunch with their family.

Gerald looking like Jug Head from Archie comics after opening our Christmas Crackers that Kathi brought for everyone. Gerald's had a soccer yo-yo and mine had a shoe horn and they all came with colorful paper hats they were so much fun  I am all about that tradition.

Ali at the Christmas lunch. We had honey baked ham and turkey and the best sides ever.

Kathi and Aurora's cute little face in the background.

..................................................................
We agreed that while we missed our families this Christmas season it was our best one together (our Fourth!). It was the first time we didn't have to run to 2 or 3 places. And last year we didn't buy gifts for Aurora so we had so much fun with her being able to open and play with her gifts this year. It was just a really relaxed Christmas full of love and good food. I made Gerald's favorite Christmas breakfast in the morning our perfect lunch with friends and steaks for dinner and after playing rock band for a few HOURS we had hot cocoa. Sadly we had to work the next day and all weekend before we could spend time with each other again. We were extremely blessed this entire year and are very grateful for everything especially our loving family and friends. We look forward to this new year!
