Do you know what they are? It's like a type of grain-oat. So, last week in Costco there was a giant bag of these, "Coach's Oats". I am trying to become less of a walking food preservative so I bought this big old bag. "Hey look at me" I thought proudly as I walked around Costco, "I am so aware of what I put in my body" I am sure no one was buying me as a health concious shopper as I had a 36 pack of diet coke in there, too.
So what do groats taste like? Chewy, check. Oat-y, check. Yeah, I don't like 'em. I think that groats sounds like an ailment, "Man, I have the groats real bad today"or "Dude, I am so groated". So, next Costco run, expect to see me with the usual, the big diet coke pack, and a giant box of Froot Loops, I am trying saving money, after all.

repectfully
So, I fly a flag on our house all year long. Not many do anymore, I figure that if there are still men and women serving overseas to protect us, I want to honor them and show my support. I think that our flag is just so beautiful, especially as it waves in the wind. Our flag lived a good life, but alas, it was time to take it down as it had become ripped, and was beyond repair. So, this weekend, our family will be burning it, it almost feels wrong, but I know it's the right thing to do, a Farrell family first, for sure.

Obscure Holidays
Administrive Assistant Day (not Secretary's Day, thats taboo). It's today, for those of you who don't know. So, at about one this afternoon, I was on a mad dash to Costco to pick up flowers (they have the best flowers!)for Shayne's admin. and on to Target for a card. Me and a few other forgetful busines folk (the panicked look on their face was the givewaway)
This holiday creeps up on us every year, along with his secretary's birthday, and grandparent's day. I need a Hallmark representative to call and remind me-maybe a administrative assistant to remind me, hmmmm.

Dodged a bullet!
Shayne went with a couple friends out riding ATV's today. They went off high into the Santa Rita mountains, and decided to stop for a minute high up on the top. Shayne noticed that his tires were wet, HELLO! the oil had been leaking because the oil thingamajigee fell out! If he hadn't have stopped, we would be paying to have a new engine. So, after a phone call to the wives who had to bring oil, they went off to have some more fun. And then...
1. Got stopped by the sherrif because they didn't have a permit to ride where they were(luckily Dennis Widener has an in with law enforcement)
2. Somehow, my pack that holds supplies on the back caught on fire.
3. The tire on my atv blew.
Ask the men if they had fun and they will say "yes".
That's all that counts I guess.

inspiration
When I was 10, my parents bought this very large book called "A Day in the Life of America". It was a project where hundereds of people took pictures in a 24 hour period from all across America. There were pictures of wrinkled cowboys, girls in New Jersey on prom night, homeless people, dignitaries. I LOVED that book. It touched me in a way that I can't explain, and didn't understand back then. Did I know back then that I wanted to be a photographer? No. I just knew that somehow I wanted to make that kind of creative mark on this world. I began to understand how photographs could tell a story, relay an emotion, touch someone on many different levels. I'ts my dream, my goal-to live a creative and inspired life.

Late nite scrappin and a night out...
I was up last night just chillin to "Delilah" on 94.9-the soft rock station. It is so dang corny that I love it, and who doesn't want to sing along to Chicago's "Inspiration" for like your 300th time, right? I have put myself on a paper diet, meaning that I have so much scrapbook paper and I really need to use what I have. Although, if my paper diet is as succesful as my diet-diet, I will be standing in front of Jo-Ann's at 11 tonight with a diet pepsi in my hand!
Shayne and I went on a date this last weekend, so here is actual proof of us, we were the dorky couple in the Sweet Tomatoes parking lot crouching down in front of a self timed camera to get this shot. We went to see "Leatherheads"-boring! Save your money, seriously, we looked at each other and considered leaving halfway through. I did dress the part, like dark jeans and heels, tres chic. Pretty sexy in line at Sweet Tomatoes with all the AARP set with my two plates of salad, yee-hah!

what the heck?
something slightly pithy would have appeared here, however, Drew just slammed a Rescue Hero on the keyboard, lovely.
On a happier note, The Office started again last night, it was great. I love the relationship between Jan and Michael, so messed up.
On a sad note, our giant 65" television in the loft has died. So expect to see a smaller tv perched on top of it for while, kind of a redneck tv shrine if you will.

short and sweet
Finally, I got my hair cut! I have felt like I got whooped up with an ugly stick for the past couple of weeks, so I REALLY needed it. It's a girl thang, we just feel so much better after going to the hairdresser, not to mention my favorite part, the shampoo! It's heaven and it's why I know that Shayne loves his head scratched so bad. It feels so good!

An encouraging note...
This morning, Kennedy reminded her that I needed to write her an encourageing note to be givin to her before she starts the AIMS test at school. I think that it is funny that I handed her a note, that she will hand her teacher, to then hand back to her later today. Upon hearing this, Drew decided that he wanted an encouraging note too, and had been carrying it around in a trick-or-treat jack-o-lantern pail.
So, I decided that I would write myself an encouraging note, to give to myself, before this day really got in gear.
Dear kellie,
I know you hate Mondays, but rest assured, the day will fly by quickly, SO GET MOVING! Also, the lovely cold sore that you are sporting on your lip WILL go away, most assuredly this week, so chin up. I know you are bummed that your hairdresser cancelled today, but you will get to go on Wednesday, so yes, you need to wash your hair today. The cake you made yesterday was yummy, and you got away with eating some without gaining a pound, this kind of luck doesn't last two days, so NO CAKE! Oh yes, and on Thursday, THE OFFICE returns! Happy days are here again!
Love, Kellie

Today is...
Autism Awareness Day. This is my little nephew Mason and he was diagnosed as having autism almost two years ago. He is such a smart little boy and is so lucky to have such great parents, my brother Andrew and his wife Gina. They moved to Oregon to be closer to better therapies so that Mason could continue to progress, and he is doing so great! Behind every child that has autism, there are awesome, amazing, patient, proactive parents working super hard for every small and big improvement. So here's to you Andrew and Gina, and parents everywhere, you are awesome!!!
