MERRY XMAS to all!!!

This is our 1st Xmas with R&R but it's definitely isn't the 1st time they are getting Xmas gifts. Last year Carol Yiyi had gotten Reyden a romper & hair clips for Reyes even though they weren't out yet. This year they had more. Here are some of them:

There are more clothes for both of them & hairclips for Reyes which I'm too lazy to bring out & take pictures of. Think both of them should grow up loving Xmas season with all the gifts & their fair share of roast turkey & beef. Not forgetting the choco log cake too.

Reyes' fever

Reyes was down with fever for almost a week. It threw us into a week of restless days & sleepless nights. My life seemed to revolve around paracetamol, nurofen, thermometer, Max-Kool & etc ... Felt quite down during that few days. It was like a cycle starting with Reyes getting all cranky & clingy when her 1st bottom tooth erupted. Then Reyden's fever when his 1st bottom tooth erupted too. And now is back to Reyes' turn with her top tooth erupting. All within the last 2 months. Hopefully there'll be a break before Reyden's top tooth erupts. It isn't so much of the physical tiredness but the mental stress that I was having. Constantly worrying about their temperature, having to monitor it every single moment especially the nights when it'll goes up the fastest. I was watching their temperature the way people watches the stock market except that I want it to drop.
"Wah, you are so lucky to get twins leh!!" Heard this comment hundreds of times. But good things doesn't come easy, it comes with a price.

Well, at least there's something happy to mention. Someone had expressed an interest in Boy Boy and he does sound sincere enough. Just hope that everything goes well with Wed's viewing. Though I can't bear to let him go but if it's to a kind soul, I wouldn't mind.

Anyway hvn't been able to upload pixs cos of my problematic phone. Sent it in for repair today, can only collect next Tues so there won't be any pixs here in the meantime.

New furniture arrangement in the house

Everything had to be done in such a way to accomodate R&R. Gotten a smaller sofa in replacement for the current set in order to squeeze out space to put their 8pcs play yard. Oh ya, talking about the play yard, Kent feels that it's the 1st useful thing that I had gotten for them so far. Cos Reyden started to pull the sides & stand after 2 days in it. And though Reyes can't pull herself up yet, she's able to hold on to the panels and cruise around. That are quite major milestones indeed. No wonder Kent praises me for it.
Back to furniture, gotta shift the dining table so that they'll have space to move around in the walkers. It seems like they are playing 'bumper car' with their walkers now. And Kent wants to charge them 'season parking' for their coupe car & tricycle if I don't move them into the store soon enough. Guess he hasn't look into the store for a long time.

Milestone

Looking at the stuff in the health booklet. Seems like they are able to do quite abit of what are in there though Reyes' slower than Reyden.

- Your child can pick up a biscuit by bringing together any part of the thumb and any one finger.
YES but whether they are able to put into their mouth, that's a different story.

- Your child makes single sounds, consisting of a consonant and a vowel.
YES Reyden will go 'pa', 'ma', 'nan', 'da' & 'ga' & Reyes will only say 'pa', 'ma' & 'da'.

- Your child will imitates any sound after you.
NO

- Your child can stand holding on to a chair or table for more than 5 secs.
YES Reyden can also let go & stand on his own for more than 5 secs but Reyes needs to hold on to something for support.

- Your child can pull himself to a standing position by himself without help.
YES & NO Reyden can do that easily but Reyes will just shout for someone to carry her up.

Other than the normal milestones above, we caught Reyden moving 2 steps infront without any support at all. With this I think we can definitely expect Reyden to learn to walk faster than Reyes. The only thing that Reyes's faster is probably the number of teeth she has. Currently she has 6 (2 bottom & 4 top) teeths erupting & 1 bottom cutting whereas Reyden still got his 2 bottom teeth & 1 top without any traces of other teeth cutting.

R&R can crawl!!!

I'm proud to annouce that at 9mths old today, Reyes had started to crawl!! In fact Reyden had started to crawl last week but I missed his 1st crawl cos was too busy at work last week. Now I have 3 crawling 'animals' in the house, hahaha! Guess it's time to get the play yard for them.

兄妹情深

Brought them to playground for the 1st time this evening. Didn't manage to catch them on the camera cos too busy carrying them around the playground for play. But there was a little surprise for me as I pushed them to the playground in the double stroller. They were holdings hands all the way from home to the playground!! Quickly snap a shot of it when I saw it from the back.

So sweet ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

It's my 1st birthday with R&R! Hvn't been celebrating birthdays for ages. Felt kind of excited cos this is my 1st birthday with R&R. Life had never been the same since their arrivals & of cos birthdays would never be the same too. Though it was just a simple celebration but that's already enough to make me happy.

A big Thank you to:
- Mummy for a sumptous dinner
- Kent for the birthday cake
- friends, colleagues & cousins for the birthday wishes
- of cos R&R for bringing me the laughters & hapiness in my life.
- and also GOD for blessing Reyden with a speedy recovery. It made my birthday even better.

THANK YOU!!

New dishes

Didn't have much time to prepare their lunch & dinner today therefore it was 2 simple meals. Tried giving them rice vermicelli with spinach, pork & fish for lunch today & they liked it!

Ingredients
- 50gm of threadfin fillet cut into small pieces
- 50gm of lean pork cut into small pieces
- 1 piece of the rice vermicelli
- 2 tablespoons of chopped spinach
- 5 big finely chopped button mushrooms
- 10 small pieces of dried scallops

Preparing
- Put the dried scallops, button mushrooms, chopped spinach into a pot of water & bring to boil for 10-15mins.
- Add in the fish & pork when the dried scallops had become soft.
- Put the rice vermicelli in when the fish & pork are half cooked. Do not add in too early as it will become very soft if cook for too long. Remember to break it into small pieces before cooking. Else can just use a scissors to cut them up after cooked.
- Optional to add a dash of pepper.

Dinner was simpler but a yummy one too. Steamed pumpkin with potato, toufu & fish. I added a teaspoon of milk powder to it as well.

Enjoying their meals ...

I had made french toast for their teabreak today too. However only egg yolk was used as it's still too early to expose them to egg white yet. So they had tried 3 new dishes today. More coming up ...

Home Alone with the 2 terrors!

It had been some time since Auntie Aida went on her monthly off. We were so used to her being around handling the 2Rs. Almost freaked out when the thought of handling the 2 of them all by myself struck me. Nevetheless today the 2Rs were rather cooperative, no war to be fought during meal & bathing times.
Realised they had grown up, no longer at their infant stage. The last time I took care of them by myself was at their 4th month. Things were messy & out of control then. Today was a different scenario altogether. They had only made sounds of protest when they did their "big business" or felt sleepy. They were even able to keep themselves entertained with toys when I was feeding or bathing the other R. My Reyden & Reyes had grown up!!
The only thing I'm complaining about is their weight. It's putting a strain on my old back injury. Having to carry them in & out of cradles/cots/walkers/highchairs/bathtub is really a tough job. Adding both their weights came up to about 18+kg. Imagine having to carry a load of 18kg around for the whole day? Wonder how Auntie Aida managed to put on weight despite all the "weight-lifting". Hopefully they'll learn to walk soon so that I won't have to carry them around.
Anyway I brought them out by myself for the 1st time today. Though it was only a walk in the neighbourhood, but I'm still pretty proud about it.

Reyes Boy

Boy or Gal?? At least 5 people had asked me the same question for the last few days. Think she looks better dressed as a boy.

A peep at her new cot. She simply loves it. Come to think of it, it could be due to the new cot that she's sleeping on time these 2 days, not that she's a good gal??

Reyden's down with fever

Reyden was down with fever since Wednesday. Temperature varies between 38 & 39. Brought him to the doctor on Thursday but still of no help in bringing his fever down. Alternate between Nurofen & paracetamol every 3 hourly, sponged him at the neck, armpits & groin areas still didn't help. Eventually gave in to my mum's advice - brew some "ling yang" ~ antelope horn's water for him. It really did help. By Fri evening, his temperature had came down to 37.6~37.9 & it remained at 37+ for the whole of today. Not sure whether is it cos of the "ling yang" but anyway thank God for bringing his fever down else I really won't know what to do. However, though the fever gone, he had 4 times of diarrhea today. He just woke crying pitifully, guess it must be cos of the stomach virus. Hope it'll go away as well. Reyden's being a good boy the last few days, didn't fuss or cry though I know he isn't feeling great. He just showed a weary & sad face. It hurts seeing him like that. My birthday wish is for him to recover asap ...

Look at his sick & sad face.

Not forgetting to mention that Reyes had been a good gal too. Think she knows that the brother is sick. She gladly finished whatever I cooked for the last 2 days. (usually it takes 1 hr to feed her) & she slept on time daily without much hassle too. Thank you Reyes!

Tricycle rides

Havn't been posting for almost 2 weeks. So busy & tired with work & shop. Nevertheless still manage to squeeze out time for new recipes & try out new food with R&R. On the "new food" records are avocado, egg york, salmon, bananas, turnip, yoghurt, ice-cream & etc ... Glad to say they aren't allergic to any of these.
Exciting things to look forward are the arrival of Reyden's baby cot & Fernvale's mummies' trip to the gymboree tomorrow. Reyden had spoilt his play pen with his mighty strength so no choice gotta get a 4 steps cot-to-junior bed for him. Had spent quite a sum on them this week. A Maclaren Twin Rally stroller, a baby cot, a dozen tins of Enfapro milk powder & many pack of Huggies & Nepia diapers (lost count of how many packs). The milk powder & diapers should last them for another 2-3 mths.

Happy 8th Month!!!!

Can't believe that we've come so far. Both of you are out for as long as you were in my tummy. Hvn't been an easy 8 months but I'm grateful for God's wonderful gifts. Life can only get better with the 2 of you around. You had added so much joy & laughters to the family. Mummy loves you!!!

Obssesed with toys ...

Daddy says Mummy's sick. According to Kent, I'm down with an illness called "Toys Obsession" . I've just got them another toy - Fisherprice Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair

And I've got Waipo to help them get the tricycle that Reyes likes. Think Reyden would love it too. Waipo had gotten the blue one for them cos Reyes already has the pink coupe car. We'll be expecting major shifting of the furniture in our house in the next 2 months. Coming along the way would be a playyard to "cage" them, a single bed to join to our bed for Reyes & a new & smaller sofa to accomodate the playyard. Kent says that the things that I've gotten for them are getting bigger in size & cost & he had given up on me so there's no one to stop me from getting more for them!!!

Yummy recipe

Tried this today. Reyden & I love it but not Reyes. Can't figure out what's wrong with her these days. Preferred to eat her "baby-times" cereal than porridge. Thought cook something different for her but it still doesn't catch her fancy. Concluded that she's got sweet tooth. Likes all the sweet stuff, biscuits, kuehs, fruits & etc ... Shall try another fish with red dates recipe for her tomorrow & see how.

This original recipe was with compliment from Auntie Joelle from the Mar thread. Just to share with other mummies after some modification on my own. :)

Chicken Pasta
- 2 pcs chicken fillets
- 2 small US potatoes
- half carrot/some broccoli
- 1 onion
- 1 small bowl of vegetable pasta
- olive oil
- grated cheddar/mozarella cheese
- full cream/carnation milk

1. turn on oven to 180 degree baking mode. (optional if dont wan to use oven)
2. boil a small pot of water. throw in pasta when boiling. simmer till soft... drain and rinse with cold water. set aside.
3. cut into smaller pieces the chicken, potatoes, carrots/broccoli. (smaller easier to cook)
4. pour olive oil into casserole dish, throw in chopped onion and cook till fragrant/slight brown. throw in chicken n stir till partially cooked. throw in potatoes, carrots/broccoli. pour in full cream milk and let boil.
5. Puree/Mash the cooked stuff together with pasta. Pour back into casserole dish and top with grated cheese. (not too much cheese cos abit giam... jus a thin layer at the top.) cover dish and put into oven to bake for 15-20 minutes. After that, stir in cheese evenly.
optional 5a. if no oven, u can just lower the fire and stir in cheese.

It really taste yummy. Mummies can also enjoy this dish but minus the blending step.

Reyden & Reyes

Mummy, I like this. Can you get this for me?
(Mummy's reply: we shall go get it when Daddy's not around.)

Halo Daddy, Mummy wants to deposit me here. Can you come & pick me?

Finally got it done for the Mar babies trolley pixs - Reyes in Fairprice trolley.

Reyden's 1st haircut

To be exact, this isn't the 1st time Reyden steps into a salon. But the last time he went for a haircut was a "improper" one with us cradling him and the electrical shaver just went over his head briefly. We decided to bring him for a haircut as his hair hasn't been growing much and had been growing quite unevenly. This time round he gets to sit on the chair, with the cloth draped over him and there he goes! All ready for a haircut. He sat thru the haircut session quietly but with an extremely "black face". His naughty mei mei was beside laughing at him as he slowly becomes a little "monk".

Reyden's 1st tooth

Yeah, Reyden's tooth is out. This is faster than I expected cos I was told that normally it'll be much slower for 1 twin to start teething than the other. Since Reyes just started last week so I expect Reyden's ones to sprout out in another 1-2 mths' time. Still don't have the chance to snap pictures of their teeth. Cos they will stuck out their tongue whenever I try to "ply" open their mouth to see their teeth. Reyes now has 2 lower teeth. Will find a chance to take the pictures.

1st swimming session of the duo!

Birthday Party of Danial & Yazmin

We attended the 1st birthday bash of Danial & Yazmin ~ 1st pair of twin friends of R&R. Both mummies had found so much similarities in them and it makes us feel that we are not alone with 2 terrors. hahaha! All of us had enjoyed the party. We had attended some other children' parties which seemed more like an adult party more. But this one isn't the same. It was a real party for babies & children with all the toys to keep them entertained. Thank you to Auntie Fi for inviting us. Looking forward to R&R's 1st birthday in Feb.

Reyes' 1st trip to the airport

Had brought Reyes to the airport to send yiyi off. Yiyi's going to Krabi with her colleagues. Reyes looks so sad when yiyi's about to go off. Yiyi suggested a family trip next year & Daddy & Mummy are tempted. Had promised to bring her & gor gor for a resort getaway trip next Aug/Sep. Hope everything falls in place then.

Reyes' 1st tooth!!

Saw a tiny-weeny white bit of Reyes' lower tooth sprouting out this evening. Didn't know Mummy can get so excited over it. She had been slower than Reyden in almost everything, flipping, sitting up, crawling & etc ... This is the only time that she's faster than the brother. All the excitement aside, she's suffering from quite abit of uncomfort & pain. Couldn't get to sleep or eat, getting all cranky at night. It hurts me seeing her like this. Hope it'll be all over soon for her. And we'll be expecting Reyden's ones to sprout out soon.

New things for them

Finally got down to buying a Lucky Baby high chair & Maxi Cosi car seat for them. Auntie Aida had commented that can't keep them still during feeding time. Anyway it's high time to let them eat in a proper chair. Luckily I've only got one to try out. Reyden simply refused to sit & eat in it. Will let him try again before we get another one for them.

As for the carseat, it's cos the both of them had now grown longer & it seems like they are cramped inside the infant car seats. Therefore we decided to let them sit up & watched the view outside the car instead of watching Mummy being a clown in the car.

Reyes in the high chair.

The Mar babies of the forum Mummy's in had pictures of their babies in supermarket trolleys. Mummy wanted us to have a pix of that too. Here's Reyden's.

But he doesn't look too happy in it. Shall bring Reyes to the supermarket this afternoon to look for ah ma & take one too.

Gymboree Play Gym

Reyden & Reyes enjoying themselves.

Our friends - Danial & Yasmin!

Brought the 2 terrors to Gymboree Play & Music at Vivocity today. Seems to have neglected them recently so thought of bringing them out for some fun. It was a place recommended by another twin mummy. I must thank her for bringing us there cos R&R had really enjoyed themselves. It's a pretty nice & fun place for children above 6mths old. They have classes suitable for various ages too. Will share about them after we have try them out. :)

Fallen off the bed ...

My poor Reyes had fallen off my bed for the 1st time. Careless Mummy took things for granted, left her on my bed, turned & put something on the table. When I turned back half her body was already out of the bed & before I had time to react, she was on the floor ... Felt so guilty & 心疼. Though Daddy didn't scold me but I knew it's my fault. Some mummies were kind enough to console me by telling me that almost 100% of infants/children fall off beds/sofas at least once. But knowing this still doesn't ease my guilt. I should have been more careful ... Sorry Reyes.
