Today is Father's Day and I just wanted a special post for my daddy- even though he hates it when I call him daddy, always has. My Dad is my hero. We do everything together, ride horses, hunt, watch sports, travel, talk politics and anything else you can think of. I have been half way around the world twice with my Dad but my favorite times are when we are just riding in the mountains of our backyard. I see my Dad as a very common sense, hardworking, down-to-earth kind of guy. He likes the simple things in life and has always taught us how to work hard. He doesn't put up with crap and has always taught me to be respectful above all else. I love talking politics with him because he has taught me how to not get upset and take things personal if someone disagrees with you. I love the fact that he can be riding a horse and working in the dirt one minute and the next he can be all dressed up going to a play with my Mom. I know my Dad does his best to make it to our games and other activities we are involved in, even when he has had a rough night on call.
I will always remember my Dad's patience, especially when we hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was summit day and it was cold and dark and very hard to breath. Lindsey and I complained a lot and we didn't want to continue, it was the hardest thing mentally I have ever had to do. My Dad was very kind and showed a lot of patience with us and encouraged us up the trail. I love my Dad and I cannot wait to spend more time with him.
