Visitor
So I had a little chat with my Dad. And he mentioned something about me feeling like a visitor to America. Which has some truth in it. I go to school each day holding my heritage and foreign beliefs with me. Am I a visitor to America? I probably am. Nick Hamlin once said to me, "Don't worry man, you're an Honorary American to me." And when I spoke to my Chemistry teacher about me having to go back to Singapore for National Service, and a whole bunch of "maybe i'm moving back to Singapore," she was like "You're Americanized, why move back, you're Americanized." So does being Americanized make me American? Or does that only make me an "Honorary American" like Nick said. I ask myself that question each day, and have yet to decide. Truth is, I really like the country here, except for the fact that I have to change the way i spell things half the time so that it doesn't look or sound British. So I decided that I would come up with 3 steps or stages: 1) Assimilate by being accepted by a group i.e. Stop worrying about studying too much, and get back the old social life I used to have in Singapore, except this time in the States. 2) Experience local life to the MAX 3) Decide between Singapore and America. I have 1 and a half years left. This is my last chance, after that, i'll probably have to decide. Sorry for ranting so much guys, I would actually attempt to make this interesting, but this is riding around in my head so I had to get it out. Oh and it's New Years Eve tomorrow!!!!! COUNT DOWN TIMEEEEEE !!! WHOOOOHOOOOOO 2010 ! Cheers mates ! Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 6:47 PM
Hey Peeps
So i decided to start blogging again. It's a sudden inspiration. So to help y'all catch up, I had a pretty good christmas over here. And it snowed on Christmas eve too! I used to say "Why can't we have the four seasons in Singapore?" Then after going through all this crap here, HECK NO ! I love the tropics!! Who doesn't? Hate the humidity btw. So Mum, Kieron, Kerri, and Granddad left for Singapore yesterday. It was sad. But what's another 1 and a half years of American High School, especially after all this trouble of moving here. For those who THOUGHT i migrated, NO ! It's not permanent. I haven't decided yet. Not for sure, i'm on the fence. Half of me wants to go back to Singapore, the other half wants me to stay in the states. America is cool, you get to do a whole bunch of things, except drinking. They only let you do that when you're 21. I think I want to go back to writing music. Gotta get some ground back, maybe form a band. 24 Week count down till I go back to Singapore. So till i feel up to blogging again, Cheers mates. P.S: Check out the Bands KSM & The Maine. |
