This Christmas I gave you my heart!

Merry Christmas!
I've never had time fly by so quickly! I'm using a cute advent calendar I received as a gift this year and every time I change the block I can't help but think "I just did this!"
Eric and I are so excited for our first Christmas together. We are all kinds of mushy and lovey dovey. Not that we aren't all the time but especially so this month. We love looking at our tree and having hot cocoa. I like the fireplace on more than Eric does. He thinks it's a waste of gas. And that's probably true if you are Scrooge but it's magical at Christmas time and it's worth every penny!
We were both pretty frustrated that most of our presents to eachother won't be surprises. It's hard when you only have one car and one bank account but we did our best! Actually, Eric is sure that I know what's under the tree for me but, honestly, I have a guess but I don't really know. So it's still really fun for me. :)
Our good friend, Kalli, gave us some good newlywed advice. She told us to take lots of pictures for the first everything. She said she and her husband (who celebrated their first Christmas last year) regretted not taking more pictures. I hope we are too lazy to get it out. We have trouble with that.
My sister Jen let me borrow her book called The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck and I read the whole thing last night. I highly recommend it!!

Have a good season!!

Happily Ever After

I was telling my friend the other day about the night Eric and I decided to get married and I thought maybe I should post it so I don't forget. Plus, it's cute and mushy so maybe ya'll would like to hear about it.

I was at Eric's apartment late one night (that happened a lot) and he was on the phone with me while I was driving home to make sure I didn't fall asleep and kill myself. We were having a fairly deep conversation but unfortunately I can't remember the details anymore. However, I do remember perfectly how he sounded when he said "maybe we should look at rings." I was about 2 minutes from home and I did an illegal U turn and headed the 20 minutes back to Provo.

When I got there, he was waiting for me on his porch. We were both grinning when I parked illegally and ran at him. He grabbed me and we just hugged and kissed and laughed for about 15 minutes. It really was late and I had to go home but this time there wasn't a chance I would fall asleep and I don't think I slept that night.

The next day I was waiting for Eric to get home from work and I decided to go look at dresses. I ended up buying the second one I tried on. With out my mom, my friends, my sisters or anyone's opinion. I loved it. Nobody even knew we were talking about marriage. (We had only been dating for 6 weeks.)

I couldn't believe it was real. That it was my turn to have my dreams come true. And Eric is my dream come true.

This was taken on my phone by the girl who helped me at the shop. I sent it to Eric. :)

Here's the back.
All before it was altered and ironed. :)

Away Games

This was 3 months ago. But at least I'm doing it!
Eric and I flew to San Diego for our honeymoon! Thanks to Aunt Shawna, we were able to fly out to San Diego and have the nicest rental car for more than an affordable price. Well, more than affordable for others, just affordable of us. :) Thankfully, Eric's parents let us take the GPS system so we were able to find our way around. The roads in California scare the daylights out of me. I got on Eric's nerves quite a bit by sideseat driving. He asked if I wanted to drive so I shut up after that but I was still very tense every time we were on one of the billion freeways/exit ramps/on ramps/side streets/ect.

Anyway, we were pretty proud of ourselves for navigating the airport, the roads and booking the hotel all by ourselves. That is something you take for granted that your parents take care of. Our hotel was pretty nice, except that we booked a room with a king bed and got 2 double beds. We used one bed for our luggage and snuggled on the other. Part of the reason we chose this hotel was the pool and (go figure) we never used it, but all in all we were happy with our choice.

We actually made it back to the hotel pretty early every night and we were usually out of the hotel by 8 in the morning. We liked to go get breakfast and Denny's ended up being our favourite place. The weather was perfect all week and we didn't get in a car wreck so I was thankful for that. I think sports center was almost constantly on the whole time we were in our room. I got pretty sick of hearing about Bret Farve going to the Jets but it was a good indication of what was to come with regards to the TV in our home. Oh well, I guess it's better than trashy shows.

As for our activities, we bought Gocards. The cards got us into all kinds of places and came with a book that told us about other cool things to see. We went to the San Diego Zoo, LegoLand, Knottsberry Farm's water park, Old Town and to a small amuesment park right on a boardwalk next to the ocean. We also went to Corona Island and played at the ocean, to see the Dark night, and to Dave and Busters.

I will now give you a small review of the above attractions.

The San Diego Zoo was huge! The best part was watching the Polar Bears play with toys in the water. We went underground and could see into the pool through glass. (Did that make sense?) I didn't see any penguins though and I thought that was kind of weird. The monkeys were pretty fun too. We took a bus tour to see most of it and were done about halfway through the day.

LegoLand would have been really fun if we had children under the age of 10. The best part was watching the toddlers in the water play area. Otherwise, it's not for adults.

Seven Peaks is way better than Knottsberry Farms water park except for one ride. You come down a slide into a giant funnel and go up and down and it's pretty high. I bet you could see it online.

Old Town was fun for shopping and just wandering. I've heard the mexican food there is the best ever but Eric preffered to eat Jack In the Box's meat sandwhiches the whole trip.

The amusment park was awesome! You go up on the wooden roller coaster and you see the whole ocean! We then got giant ice cream cones and people watched. We saw a real beach bum too! He had to have been in his late 20's and was carrying a boombox on his shoulder with his pack. I wish we had gotten a picture.

Playing in the ocean was Eric's favourite even though he carried me most of the time because the seaweed touching my legs really grossed me out. Seriously, you can't see the bottom and then you get slimed and tangled in it. UGH. I had a really good time too though. It was fun to try to body surf. Mostly we just ate a lot of seawater but it was funny.

Dave and Busters is like an adult Chucky Cheese. We got dinner for a really good price and got a lot of credits to play arcade games! There are little tables everywhere for people to put there beer down. That was different. It was really fun to play games with Eric. I beat him at every racing game including the motorcylce one. Eric didn't seem to like that but he beat me at everything else so I think its fair.
The last day I got a UTI and that SUCKED. Basically, there was nothing we could do till we got back to Utah. The day we flew home we wanted to have the rental car back early just incase and ended up sitting the in the airport from 10 to 6. I had to go to the bathroom about a thousand times but thankfully I had Breaking Dawn to read. There were 2 little sparrows that lived in the airport and they are really fun to watch so that was a plus. Eric didn't have a very good time with his new grumpy and sick wife that day but he made it through unscathed.
Unfortunately, we didn't take very many pictures at all but I'll include some that we did manage to get the camera out for.

This is on the bus tour of the Zoo. The baby pandas were freakin adorable.

This is at the amusement park and Eric is sporting his new Old Town T-shirt.
Big ice cream cones! I got cookie dough, I can't remember what Eric got but he didn't really like it I recall...

This is the best picture we took of the ocean and that's our rental car.

Hate the Delay of Game

AH HA! I figured out how to make a slideshow! Sheesh, they don't make it easy do they? They should make a "how to page" with steps of how to do everything.
There aren't a lot of pictures (compared to my over 1,000 pictures taken that day and I'm not even kidding) because it wouldn't let me add any more. Apparently I reached my quota for the month... ???
Kalli Smith was my photographer and she did a GREAT job. These pictures are the originals. When we get everything edited I will probably switch them out. But don't you think they are awesome?! They haven't even been touched by photoshop yet!
I hope to blog about the honeymoon soon with a few pictures (G Rated).

Rules of the Game

What I've learned from my vast experience so far in marriage (2 1/2 months) is that it's the little things that matter. When Eric and I are getting along the best we are very conscious of each other's needs and we are more than happy to do things for each other. If I need a drink and I go to get up, Eric will jump up and tell me to stay and then as fast as he can with out spilling (he's such a little boy and I love it!) he'll bring me the drink I request.
I've come to learn about myself that it's really important for me to feel appreciated. I need Eric to thank me for cleaning up and folding the laundry and doing the dishes. Otherwise, the next time it needs to get done, I'm a lot slower doing it because I don't feel the motivation.
On the flip side, it's also the small things that seem to hurt each other the most. When one of us just gets up and leaves the other we feel abandoned. When one of us chooses to do something different (like put in a different movie than discussed) than we agreed upon, we feel that our opinion doesn't matter.
Today, I was sad that Eric didn't kiss me goodbye but he apologized and said he loved me and we are good again. We are learning to be more careful and think about the other before we act but I suppose we probably won't ever be perfect at it. That's why forgiving and asking for forgiveness are so important.
I know that I haven't been married for more than 3 months but it feels like I've been with Eric forever. We are crazy about each other and maybe it's our passion that makes it hard to get along sometimes but I can't imagine sharing this new experience with anyone else. Love you Eric.
You rock my socks!

Part of the "in" crowd

So it seems that the newest and coolest thing now is having a web page and I hate to feel left out so, of course, I jumped on the band wagon. :) I'm still learning so my page will be lame for a while but I hope to figure it out. Loves.
