Middle of January Recap

We went to dinner at Tio Tony's and saw the Tobolas there so we got to visit with Tracen (same day they wore their matching shirts in a previous post)

That night we went home and finally made our Mickey Mouse gingerbread house that I bought on clearance after Christmas.

Then we played Kids Sequence which Casen doesn't understand but Cooper does pretty well.

The next morning we headed to get donuts. Unfortunately one sneaker was bothering Cooper so I grabbed his rain boots to put on in the car. He decided he only needed one rain boot because only one sneaker hurt = 2 different shoes

We spent the whole day in our pjs

Cooper and I were working on his homework and I don't remember why now but I took his pic several times

He read a book about MLK and said 'he had a dream, he was named after his daddy (the Jr.) and he got killed but God healed his heart in heaven.'

That night we invited Babi and Grandaddy over for pizza and games because at the last minute I wanted to play canasta!

Sunday Cooper went to Babi and Grandaddy's for a slumber party with Mac, Carleigh, Carsyn, and Quinn because they all were off of school on Monday. Casen went with us to Aunt Jen Jen and Uncle David's to watch the football game and get my hair highlighted.

This guy was spoiled and loving it!

He wanted a fire in the fireplace and that is exactly what Uncle David gave him.

Monday these kiddos went to church and then did some playing at the gym

That night I made these cookies and added chocolate chips. They were delicious.

And I also went overboard on the flamin hot chips. I was hungry and stressed at the grocery store. Deadly combination.

And I can honestly report that I still haven't finished all of those. #shocking

This little guy enjoyed mommy time. He always likes to help me in the kitchen.

My MIL gave me these simple to-do list post-its for Christmas and I love them. I make a new list each day at work and it is great. I LOVE checking things off!

On this morning Casen and I had a rough morning but this resilient boy gives me grace despite my faults. Love this strong boy!

And this week started our obsession with Uno. Cooper and I love it and we get so competitive. He gets frustrated when he loses but it is an important thing to learn. And Casen does pretty well when he plays too but he still gets distracted easily.

On the left is Batiste original dry shampoo and I LOVE it. It is cheap, I can buy it at walmart, and it does the trick. On the right is the blonde version. I bought it because I thought it would be awesome to help with my dark roots while also making my hair last longer between washes. Well...I was so disappointed! It is yellow and did help disguise my roots. However, because it is yellow it also made my scalp yellow. YUCK! I literally took a q-tip and rubbed my scalp to get rid of the yellow. I wasn't a fan and threw it away. I will stick with the original.

I took Casen to the doctor to check on a few things but mainly to discuss his sleep habits. Or lack of sleep habits! He did great and the doctor gave us a medicine to see if we can get him on track with his sleep.

For a girls' lunch we went to Cheesecake factory and it is always so much food. I had the Tex-Mex eggrolls and the vanilla bean cheesecake for leftovers that night. They were both delicious!

And that Friday I had the day off to go to the dentist and get ready to go out of town. I had to get two crowns and my sister requested a selfie of my crooked smile afterwards. Luckily it wasn't too bad so I obliged.

First week of January

We started the New Year with great weather and we took advantage of it. The boys and I decided to have Ranger join us on a walk.

I put on my camo jacket before we left and the two boys insisted they put theirs' on too. Since I don't have a little girl to match camo will have to do.

I did some exercising and this boy joined me...or distracted me.

We spent the day at home playing with some of our Christmas presents

A new treasure chest from Granny and Papa.

Playdoh from Aunt Jen Jen and Uncle David

Foosball from Granny and Papa

And practicing reading

And cuddling in bed before turning out the lights

Monday the 2nd we were off work so we invited the Tobolas to come play for a while. Tracen took a nap and then the boys entertained him.

And then we all went outside to enjoy the weather again

Even this little cutie!

After the Tobolas left we headed out for another walk/ride

And someone was awake at 5am asking mommy to do a puzzle while she got ready for work. #toodangearly

You know you love your boots when you wear them when they look like this. But they are unique boots and I always get compliments on them. But they are also about 7 years old.

And I brought a chicken wrap for lunch one day and it was so yummy! It was my attempt to eat healthy again. Spoiler- it didn't last #itneverdoes

On another early morning with Casen he dressed himself, ran into the closet and said 'I match my daddy' as he stood by Kyle's collection of camo clothes.

And he helped me stir snack mix for my coworkers

One morning I posted this to instagram. I am working hard to rewatch Prison Break before it returns in April. I only get about 30 minutes each morning while I get ready for work. I forgot how intense it is but sooo good.

That Friday we got snow. It was enough to ruin the commute home but not enough to actually play with. I am really hoping we get another chance of snow at the end of February.

On Saturday we had plans to do lots of cleaning but someone put me to work with legos.

After about an hour we ended with this

That evening we went to Mimi and Grandpa's to play

And Sunday we went to Ennis for a little while. The boys got to help Grandad Sylvester pick pecans. I love this picture my dad took. Sweet memories. They have no clue how lucky they are to still have so many great-grandparents.

That's a wrap on the first week of January. Slowly but surely catching up.
