5 month

Better late than never!

Once again you are growing and changing faster than I can keep up!  It is getting more and more challenging to take your picture for these posts because you are very wiggly! Before long you will be crawling away from me as I take pictures!

You currently weigh about 15 pounds and are quite chunky.  Honestly people expect you to weigh more based on those adorable chubby cheeks!

You are still wearing size 2 diapers.

You are in 3-6 month and 6 month clothes.

You are still exclusively breastfed.  I was able to work through my supply issues and you are doing great.  You have the same schedule as when you are 4 months and you are still a great eater.  I think you will do great with solids once you are 6 months!  We changed your bottles to medium flow and you don't spit up nearly as much as you used to.

Your sleep patterns are the same.  Asleep around 7:30 and awake at 5:00 am to nurse and back to sleep until 6:15.  You nap during the day but we have no routine for your naps.

Cooper you LOVE bath time!!  You splash with your feet and try to grab the washcloth.  You just smile and coo the entire time and it is so sweet.  I love bath time with you.

Unfortunately your cradle cap came back and it is so annoying!  We are working on it!

You still have a clogged tear duct and it drives me insane.  Your eye waters so much and you get really bad eye boogers.  I plan to readdress this issue at your 6 month appointment.

You have great neck control now and seem so alert now.

Your hair is really starting to come in!

You have also started rolling over in your crib recently and we often find you on your tummy in the mornings.

This past month we spent a lot of time in Ennis because it was deer season. You were decked out in lots of cute camouflage in honor of Daddy going hunting. You even had a cute orange safety vest from Aunt Lusa and Uncle Trent.
You and your cousins MacKenzie have really started to notice each other this month and it is fun. You reach towards each other and grab at each other. I have a feeling you two will be great friends!

You have entered the teething phase in which EVERYTHING goes in your mouth! Toys, blankets, clothes, your fingers, my fingers, and even my hair!  You love holding on to my hair!

We love everything about your day-care.  We love the ladies that take care of you.  We love the activities and artwork you do while at day-care!  We are so happy with our choice.

You love the excersaucer at day-care and have even started riding in the bus for rides around the day-care!!

You also have learned to hold your own bottle. I haven't seen it because you never get a bottle when I am around. But the girls at day-care rave about how great you are at holding your own bottle.

We celebrated your first Thanksgiving and though you didn't get to enjoy any of the food it was still fun to share the holiday with you.

You also just started sitting in your high chair to play while we make dinner.  You aren't quite sure what to think of it yet, but it keeps you busy for a little bit.

What we have been up to!

We had a wonderful Christmas filled with lots of food, family, and fun.  And of course presents.  Cooper got so many sweet gifts!  He has a whole new wardrobe and lots of new toys!  We really are blessed.

Things are still very busy at work so I don't have much time to blog but here are some pictures I have wanted to share!

Anybody notice something funny in this picture?  Not sure if Cooper or Daddy is responsible for the upside down pacifier, but Cooper didn't seem to mind.

Cooper seriously loves his daddy.  They are two peas in a pod and my heart melts when I see them together.  I love my boys so much!

Cooper has discovered his feet and he just loves holding on to them.  It is really cute however he has also learned how to pull his socks off.  We had a tough time keeping his socks on before this and now it is more challenging.
It might help if my son wore shoes but they just seem silly to me since he doesn't walk and they seem uncomfortable.  Heck I would go in just socks everywhere if I could!

I have been the luckiest girl in the world and had lots of cuddle time with my sweet boy.  Seriously this face is too precious for words.

Two weeks ago cousin MacKenzie came over to play with Cooper while her parents bought a new washer and dryer.  She was so good and the babies had fun. Can't you tell?

Here they are playing tether ball with Cooper's play gym!

Checking each other out!

That is all for now.  I am going to work on Cooper's 5 month post later today.  I have to hurry because it is almost time for his 6 month post!  Wow how time flies!

Cooper's Doctor Visit 12/14

Last Wednesday I stayed home with Cooper and we were going to head to the doctor.  Starting the previous Saturday he had been fussy and not sleeping well.  I thought it might be teething, but my gut really said it was more.  He just wasn't his usual self.

Here he is playing on his play mat before we headed to the doctor. I LOVE the camo jacket he got from my Granny.

Here we are hanging out in the waiting room.  We didn't have to wait long which is always great.

Cooper loves our iphones (what kid doesn't) and always tries to grab them.  We decided to have a little photo shoot for fun!

Looks like he smelled something gross!! Haha!!

Eating on his teether

Sure enough he had an ear infection and had a breathing treatment for possible RSV. We don't know if he has RSV but it was found at his day-care and they could in fact hear fluid (I think?) in his chest.

He HATED the breathing treatment.  We tried the mask and the mouth piece.  Luckily we didn't have to take the machine home and continue the treatments.

One weird thing is that they weighed Cooper and said he was 13lbs 8 oz with his clothes and diaper on.  That caught my attention and they checked the record for his 4 month appointment at which he weight 14lbs 6oz.  The idea that he had lost weight both shocked me and confused me.  Despite Cooper not feeling well he always eats like a champ.  There were no changes in his eating habits at home or day-care.

Honestly as soon as they said it I just knew they had to be wrong.  Instead of asking them to re-weigh him I let it go and started to worry that I wasn't giving him enough milk or that my milk wasn't enough for him.  They scheduled us a follow-up weight check for tomorrow.

However, I got home and weighed him on our digital scale and it said 15 even which sounds much more likely.  I do think it was an error on their part, but we will double check tomorrow.

He looks like he is gagging but I think he is just acting a little dramatic. Not sure who he gets that from : )

Time to Catch Up!

Life has been crazy busy for me lately.

Our first Christmas with Cooper is going to be fun and exciting, but it is also more work.  One more person to buy gifts for which is the fun part!  The hard/not-so-fun part is trying to get things done when you have a 5 month old.  I don't have time to run errands after work like I used to and running errands on the weekends is a lot more challenging.  I didn't get all of my Christmas decorations up and I still haven't taken pictures of my decor to share. Plus we have been spending so much time with family which is amazing and the most important part of all of this.  I try to remind myself that the other things can wait.  It is important for us to slow down and enjoy our time with Cooper and make sure everyone else gets to enjoy him also.

Work has also been extremely busy for me.  My supervisor switched things around that impacted me starting in December.  The busiest time of each month for me is the last 10 days and that happens to also be when Christmas and New Years are!  So it is a short month to get all of my stuff done plus handle new stuff.  Then I was preparing to teach a class to people in my department about what all our group does.  I co-taught the class yesterday and am so glad that is over! And finally, a coworker announced she is retiring mid-January and it is likely that I will transition into her position.  It is a lateral move but I am still excited about the change and challenge.  However I am overwhelmed at the thought of learning all of her information in the short time we have!

I have had my Christmas cards for 3 weeks now and I am just now getting them in the mail today!  I finished them up last night and gagged when I licked the envelopes!  After the first one I thought it would be no big deal but it just got worse.  I tried to recruit Kyle but no luck.  So I resorted to a damp rag that worked, but not as well.  Seriously why can't the glue taste like chocolate.  Then I am more likely to risk my tongue getting a paper cut.

Kyle and I eat out a lot!  I won't sugar-coat it.  I keep seeing restaurants that have deals with gift cards.  Like buy $25 in gift cards and receive a $5 bonus card.  They are at places that we eat at often.  If I had the money I would buy the gift cards just to earn the free bonus cards.  We know they will get used!!  Next year I am going to save up and do this (though I should probably just commit to not eating out as much, but we all know that isn't going to happen!)

Monday night I went to dinner with some friends and Cooper stayed with Kyle.  Dinner was delicious and it was such a nice time catching up with the girls.  Plus they gave me some sweet goodies!  Kyle did great with Cooper and I really appreciate the time with friends!

My mom is coming up tonight to stay the night and then we are having a fun day with Cooper tomorrow.  I took the day off and we are going to do errands and shopping!  I am really looking forward to it.  We also plan to try to do a fun little photo shoot at home!

I am going to try to do quite a few blogs to catch up, but it will just depend.  I have a list of things I want to talk about and pictures I want to share.  I will get around to all of them eventually.

And to make everyone happy and want to read this all I will leave you with a cute pic of my sweet little boy!

Saint Nicholas Came To Visit

I am way behind on my posts.  I have a running list of posts I need to do to catch up.  Work has been really crazy lately and I have just had no time to blog.  But I am going to squeeze in a quick one today that is mostly pictures.

December 6th Saint Nicholas came to visit our house.  This is something Catholic families do, but I don't know if any other religions do and I don't have time to look it up.  He should have come to visit us overnight on the 5th however our lives were way too hectic so he came to visit on the evening of the 6th instead.

Here is a picture of our stockings full of goodies.

Mommy is excited (see my face)

Now Cooper is excited : )

Checking out his new teether that I read about on a blog and decided Coop needed one.

And finally Cooper with all of his loot

Santa diapers, hanging toy, pacifiers, teether, nose saline, bath wash, and Baby Einstein video

P.S. Don't you love those snowman jammies Cooper has on?  My parents got them for him and I just love them.  They are two pieces which is sad because he looks grown up but I love how his cute diaper butt looks in them.  Love that sweet boy and love celebrating each holiday with him!

Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

Friday Favorites

Cooper is usually in such a happy mood in the mornings.  And lately we have all been in a good mood because Cooper is back to sleeping through the night!  I must say it is amazing!

However with the cold weather it is harder to get out of bed each morning!

This week Cooper took pictures with Santa at school and I got the picture today.  It turned out sooo cute!  I love it and am going to have to order a couple more to give to grandparents!

Cooper turned 5 months old last Sunday and I haven't taken the time to take pictures with Cooper bear or prepare the post.  That is on my list for next week!

I got my first Christmas card in the mail on Wednesday and I am sooo excited! I love getting Christmas cards and sending them!  In fact I am working on my letter so that I can get mine out at the beginning of next week hopefully!  I already have the photo cards just need the letter written and printed.

I had Corner Bakery for lunch one day this week and it was delicious.  Santa Fe Chicken Salad and Baked Potato Soup! Yum!!

Cooper's main "teacher" at day-care is having surgery and will be out for the next 2-3 weeks.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  We will miss her a lot and can't wait for her to come back.

This was hanging in Cooper's room this week.  LOVE!!!!! I seriously couldn't stop cracking up when I saw it.  Just too cute!

Saint Nicholas came to visit Cooper this week and I plan to do a post of just that either later today or one day next week.  I am just having a hard time blogging lately.

Weekend Recap!

I had this blog completely done and then I lost it somehow!!! Dang it!

Things have been so busy lately that I just haven't felt like blogging or gotten around to it.

Friday night we had a quiet night at home.  We were all in bed by 8:30 and slept until 9 besides getting up to feed Coop and pump.

Saturday we took family pictures for our Christmas card.  Kyle's parents met us at the studio and I am sooo glad they did.  Mimi was able to make sure we all looked good and Grandpa caught Cooper's attention with toys.  We got great pictures that I can't wait to share once we send out our cards!

Sunday Kyle worked overtime and Cooper and I spent the day in our pajamas at home!  I did lots of laundry, put up Christmas decor and made homemade spaghetti sauce.

Cooper hung out in his highchair while I worked in the kitchen.  He kept putting his head down and looked up at the lights.

This is my kitchen covered in ingredients while prepping the sauce.

My parents came up for a visit around 1 and brought me a hamburger from Braums.  I haven't eaten a meal from there in forever but it was very yummy!  Plus they had crinkle cut fries which are my favorite.

Melisa and MacKenzie also came over to hangout and play.  My parents watched the kids for about an hour so that Melisa and I could buy all of the ingredients for making Christmas candy next weekend.

I love making homemade Christmas candy but I must admit I am nervous this year.  We have a lot more to make and we have two infants to keep happy while we do it!

Kyle got home around four and my cousin Erica came over and we all enjoyed spaghetti.  It turned out much better than last time (I think my crock pot cooks fast and only cooked it for 6 hours instead of 8) and everyone loved it.

Cooper had only taken a catnap that afternoon so he was pooped.  He just conked out while Grandaddy was holding him.

We had a wonderful weekend and it was so nice to spend it at home.

Thursdays Thoughts

This is a book that I have heard a lot of good things about.  It is about the fact that people view love differently and are loved differently.  Some people need to hear it and others may need it to be shown by acts of kindness.  That is the basics.  I would like to read it and I would also like Kyle to read it.  I don't know which of the 5 types I am or which Kyle is, but I do know that we are different languages.  I think it would be an interesting read and good for improving our marriage.  (I am happily married, but I always think there is room for improvement so don't get worried that we are unhappy!)

If anyone wants to get this for me for Christmas or my birthday I would love it.  I am happy with a used copy from Half Priced Books.

I really want to see this movie.  I have seen the first three and I have read all of the books.  Hopefully Kyle and I can find time soon to see it.

I am now listening to O is for Outlaw by Sue Grafton.  The story is good, but the reader changed and I do not like this reader.  A-N all had the same reader and I got used to her voice for all of the characters and now this voice seems whiny in comparison.  I really hope they change back in the next book.

Last year a coworker gave me one of these Russell Stover's Peppermint Bark candies and it was soooo good.  I have been thinking about them all week and might have to buy one some time soon.
This adorable little boy has had a rough week.  He has been fussy at day-care and at home in the evenings.  And he is sleeping horribly!!  Last night he was actually in a really good mood, but last night was the worst night of sleep I think we have ever had with him.

He woke up at least 4 times and maybe more but due to my complete exhaustion I became confused several times in the night.  I hate that he isn't sleeping well, but I honestly don't know what to do for him.  It might be teething, it might be a growth spurt, or it could be a virus.  I really have no clue, but I just hope it gets better soon.  If not his mommy and daddy may go insane!

We have our family Christmas pictures scheduled for this Saturday.  I hope we get at least one good one because I plan to use them for our Christmas card.
I still do not have my Christmas decorations up yet.  Things have just been so crazy.  I keep saying I will have Kyle pull them down one night after work, but each night by the time Cooper goes to sleep we are not far behind him.  I started to put a tree up in Cooper's room because I already had the stuff accessible but I realized I need ornament hooks from the rest of my Christmas stuff and some more garland from Hobby Lobby before I can continue.

As much as I love Ennis and my family, I am so glad we aren't making that drive this weekend.  I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed while attempting to sleep late.  Plus not packing up all of our stuff. Plus not having to take the dogs out on a leash.

As hard as this week has been with Cooper I wouldn't trade it for the world.  This week has been tough being away from Cooper.  I feel like 2 hours every evening just isn't enough time.  He is growing and changing faster than I can believe and I want to be with him all of the time.  I hate leaving him at day-care.  I wish I could be a stay at home mom soooo bad.

Seriously how can you leave this sweet little face?
