Hayden

Hayden is 10!!  What?! I decided I would try to be a cool mom and get the 10 year old boy something dangerous. So, we got him stilts. The mother in me couldn't stay quiet... I had to insist on a helmet. I know, the helmet kind of hurts the cool and danger factor. Whatever.
The two days directly after his birthday, Hayden was able to go to Weblos Day Camp for scouts. Hayden was so excited!
Aren't his leaders awesome?! Im so excited for him to work with them over the next year.
The boy reported that he did really well on the bb gun shoot and the bow and arrow. Well done, son. Well done.
Hayden came home from camp SO FITLY and with a pocketknife. I take those as two great signs that camp was a huge success.  Based on the last couple of days, it looks like this #10 year will be pretty awesome!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July! Today we only had Hayden and Kate at home! It was so strange to only have the 2 little kids around today. These two little kids sure worked hard today. We mowed the lawns, and did other yard work. Hayden helped Keith with several projects all day. One thing we did do was make homemade raspberry ice cream! Its tastes WAY better than in looks.
Then the kids helped us make jam!
Good job sorting the lids, Kate!
These two are excellent jam makers!
It feels good to get some canning done. Is it really canning season though? I guess so.
We had some friends come over for fireworks.  I enjoyed the company and we had a pretty good show!  Thanks for bringing the super scary aerials, Wests!

Hayden is dancing in the smoke bomb with his friends George and Cannon. Should I be concerned?  No, its totally fine to dance in the middle of the street.
These are some scary cute boys!
Kate loves Faith. Kate is really into this weird posing for pictures thing. Is it a phase? How long will it last?
We had a great day! It was a long day full of hard work and hard play..... and time to rest.
Happy 4th of July!

Hangin' with MY people

We spent the day at the Colonial Days in Orem. Can I say right off, these are my kind of people. I loved being around these people. I loved being around the people hosting the fair, the people that were attending the fair, and my family.  Im pretty sure Im legally required to issue a trigger warning. The images you are about to see could in fact require you to find a safe space and a coloring book. Please, consider yourself warned.  Ok, here goes.
We saw a lot of military machines and equipment. This is like the generators Keith worked on when he served in the National Guard.
The kids also shot a 50 caliber machine gun.  Remember.... I warned you. These things might scare you.
Nothing will scare you more than this. I need a coloring book. And a safe place. A quiet, safe place.
Here we are learning more about guns and throwing grenades. Once again... my kind of people.
Hayden got to help shoot a howitzer. Its a big and loud gun.  Its cool.
We got to watch them shoot the cannon!  That was also pretty cool... and I could feel the ground shake! Impressive!
Have I mentioned I enjoyed how nice the people are? They were so cute with the kids!  No one complained. No one needed crayons. No one needed a safe space. Everyone had manners. Everyone loved and respected each other, the flag and our country. These are my kind of people.
I include these pictures because I like them. If you need a crayon and safe space for these, you have big problems.
Look, birthday presents!
Oh, sorry... that was for my birthday and I realize things aren't always about me. Try again... Look! Birthday presents!
Happy 4th of July weekend.
