HI.

Just before we embark on our school holidays, here's a clear list of days, dates, venues and times for our SYF and Graduation practices. Please do turn up! Also, if you are STILL unsure about the dates and times, ask the committee members just to double check!

Okay, so as you can see, WE HAVE DANCE CAMP!!!!!
We have planned alot of activites and have to get everything organized before the 18th. As we are not allowed to stay overnight in school on the 18th and 19th, we have decided to rent a chalet for both nights! However, we have to fork out our own money for it, haha!

PLEASE BE CLEAR THAT THIS SLEEPOVER IS NOT OFFICIALLY PART OF THE DANCE CAMP AND WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE CONSENT FORM YOU WILL SOON BE GETTING. THIS HAS BEEN DONE ON OUR OWN ACCORD, SO DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT(!) TELL YOUR PARENTS THAT THIS IS COMPULSORY OR PART OF THE OFFICIAL DANCE CAMP. SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS NOT.

Therefore, we need NAMES of people who HAVE PERMISSION FROM THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIAN and are completely sure that they can go for the camp.

This is because we need to be able to see if we can split the cost of the chalet so each of us can pay reasonably and cheaply for it! If not many can come for the sleepover, we do not expect the few that are to pay more and we will not go through with the booking. You may have to pay for the dance camp too if the funds we currently have are insufficient for the activities.

Also, even though we have practice on the 20th, SYF dancers are also allowed to stay the night but only if their parents have already given permission and they have paid the money of course! We will then pack our bags in the morning and head to school together! Afterwards, everyone should go home and rest till we meet up in the night for dinner. :D THIS DINNER IS ALSO NOT COMPULSORY, DO NOT TELL YOUR PARENTS/GUARDIAN THAT IT IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT! It's unofficial like the sleepover and you will have to pay for your own meal.

To notify us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, please text Amanda Tay, Melissa Shen or Sarah Oh with the following information. It's completely fine if you have to get the consent form first and let your parents see it before telling us. Please just inform us as soon as possible!

"Your name & class.
I WILL/WILL NOT ATTEND OUR DANCE CAMP.
I WILL/WILL NOT ATTEND THE SLEEPOVER.
I WILL/WILL NOT ATTEND THE DINNER."

By the way, pay your $6 for dance fund!
That's all. Thank you!

Friday, August 08, 2008

Good day to you all!
It's 08/08/08, hence, Happy National Day tomorrow!(:
As we all have our CA tests next week, please study hard!

Oh and and and.
If you still remember, Ms Wee had each senior and a junior pair up at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, we have not done anything about that pairing in the events of Zenith, various performances and school. Therefore, we are officially putting it into action NOW!

Juniors, if you remember which senior you had been paired to, please find her every session during Thursdays or whenever and become her new best friend. During classes, please try to pair up with your mentors/mentees.The mentors should generously offer their free time to help their partners in every way possible to improve or clarify anything related to dance!

And as our Secondary 4 and 5 dancers have stepped down, there are less seniors and several unpaired. Sooooo, if you do not have a partner, please inform the comm of this and we will get you a new one pronto!

TO THE CONCERNED DANCERS (NOT EVERYONE)
We still need to finish our Teacher's day & the Graduation dance, hopefully before the start of Term 4. So, if you could keep yourself free on these dates/days, please do! But if you are unable to do so, it would be okay!!!! They are rather tentative so do not be disappointed if they get cancelled.):

-15th of August (Next Friday)
-18th of August (Next Next Monday)
-22nd of August (Next Next Friday)
-25th of August (Next Next Next Monday)

[Check your datebooks/calendars/journals to ensure accuracy!]

Awesome, see you whenever!

zenith 08

ZENITH! (:

to my dearest dancers

i love each and everyone of you.

thank you for making zenith 2008 possible. and a dream come true. this was really just the beginning. (:

thank you all so so so much for being a part of this and it really means a lot to me that finally kcdance has a production of its own. (: i was reading my blog entries in 2006 and i chanced upon this entry in august 2006, post titled rapture 2006.

and this is what i wrote:

like what pris said. its a different feeling being in a dance and watching a dance. and i totally agree. when your on that stage dancing, you just feel and absorb everything around you, and whatever happens everything still ends well. because you know you gave it your all and your best. it was just the moment that mattered. nothing else did. no wrong steps or anything else could spoil that moment for you. but when your watching a dance. you become so critical and so judemental sometimes. and you wonder what if i was the choreogapher? how would i feel if someone told me that. i think every dance has a meaning and i'm sure that the choreographer tries to portray that in their dance the way they interperate it. so some may like it and some might not. but i think choreographers should still get a lot of credit cos seriously its not easy choreographing and blocking a dance.

i kept thinking like, when will kc dance ever get a day where we really get to showcase our talent? one thing i know is our school wouldn't really give support to us, cos our supposed niche area is drama. but when will dance ever be given that just one chance to really shine? a sole production where every dancer could be involved and play a part in and just really have fun on stage as a whole kc dance? i really wonder when that day will ever come. sigh. it not like we can afford it since our school is quite budget and dance fund itself will never be able to raise that kind of money. and whats the point of doing it if our school doesn't even support us. the most we get is emdd. :(

but you know what, zenith has come and passed and yes, our dreams have finally come true. our very own concert. (: and i'm SO SO SO EXTREMELY PROUD OF EVERYONE OF YOU!

so thank you for allowing me to choreograph and be a part of this awesome milestone in kcdance history!

continue to shine and bring kcdance to greater heights.
LOVE YOU ALL. (:

MARIKA (:

READY OR NOT
COUNTDOWN TO CONCERT: 24 DAYS!

Saturday, February 02, 2008

HELLO.

The year 2007 has been awesome.
We have come far by clinching the Gold award for SYF and performing for many various events like the Graduation Lunch, Racial harmony day, Teacher's day, Book and Music week and others. As the seniors left us, Secondary 1's arrived.

We entered the year 2008 with the Sec 1's CCA fair item which in turn gave us a new batch of dancers. With the preparation for our upcoming Kcdance concert on the 5th of April, i think it's going to be a blast.

Don't forget. Practices resume on the 14th! To all sec 2's to 4's, please get your choreogrpahed dance pieces ready to be presented by the week after CNY!

DEAR SEC ONES,

It may seem extremely intimidating now that you're in the dance team but please do not be afraid! We all have to start of somewhere and for you guys, your journey begins here in kc. Please ask the seniors if you are unsure of your work and it is guaranteed that they will help you.(: Yet, please try to focus and listen to the instructors so as to not lag behind. The standards are high and everything has to be right. We know that you're trying very hard and things will only get better. Trust yourself. Dance like you've never danced before.
