We Struck Gold!!!

Alright, we actually struck water, but it is going to take gold to pay for it. Ha Ha. This is the part of building this house that I have been sickest about. It is so unpredictable how deep you will actually have to go and it is a lot of money. We thought we had water at 620 feet. He said we had 190 feet of water down there and that should be plenty for a house forever. Well, turns out we were only getting 5 gallons per minute and the requirement is 30 gallons per minute. Sooooo, they had to keep digging. Uhhhhggg. I was so sick to my stomach while we waited to hear. A nearby rest area had to go to 800 feet and that was going to add a lot on to what we had planned for the well. (They originally bid/guesstimated us at 700 feet.) At 720 feet they hit a geyser! Ha Ha, I don't think it is really considered a geyser but there was so much water it shot up to 80 feet below ground. PHEW! They said we shouldn't have to ever worry about water or pressure!
To put this in perspective wells in Pocatello are only 100 feet deep. The river below our house is 200 feet down. A football field  is 300 feet. We are over 2 football fields deep into the ground to get water!
Here is the well digging machine.

Another view
This is what they were blowing out of the ground as they went. For awhile there it was sand. We have a mini beach at our house now! :-)
We finished taping and texturing this week and start trim this next week. Kory built our pillars on the front porch and our exterior guy has started working. I think we might actually get to live in this house someday! It has been such an exhausting process!
Pillars on front porch! These are going to look awesome when they are all snazzied up!
Another view of the pillars!
Bridger chilling in our front entry!!
Front entry mid sheetrocking.
Setup in the family room to finish sheetrock!
And just because I can't get over how lucky I am to have these boys in my life! (you have to actually say it how I have clearly enunciated it below. :-))

Nice weather play!!!

Guess what! This is blog post 100! What?! That's pretty exciting! We have had some nice weather lately and have of course checked it out!!!!! Boston has been in heaven!

Looky looky!!!!

We have a framed house with plumbing, electrical, and Heating and air on the inside!! The roof is also done! These pictures are still a couple weeks old, apparently I haven't been taking pictures like I Should!! Kory's amazing uncle is an electrician and was able to come out and help us with that! We are soooo grateful! Next up is insulation!!! Woohoo!! I can't wait to live here. I also included a picture of our view because I can't get over how beautiful it is but just know it doesn't even begin to do it justice!

Happenings with the Calls

Just wanted to do a quick update on what our family has been up to!

Thanksgiving! I ended up hosting for Brian and Michelle and their family, Michelles brother, and Sarah and Felipe and their family. In September Kory told me that since his parents were going on a vacay during Thanksgiving I should start putting some feelers out with my family so we could go to their house. After putting it off for awhile I had it known from a good source Brian and Michelle weren't going anywhere so I decided to put it out there and graciously accept their invitation and offer to make a jello salad. HA! That backfired, before I knew what was going on we were hosting! I was terrified. I carefully went over a menu with my mom and talked about how to make all the things I have never made before. Deep down I was super excited to try to cook all these new things and host a dinner. It ended up being a lot of fun and I totally enjoyed making it! Thanks Brian for the opportunity. Hee hee hee. (Sorry, no pictures!)

We had our ward Christmas party and were excited to see how Boston would react to Santa Claus. He got caught up in the hype of it all when he walked in and everyone was cheering, then he was over it. Its okay, I forced him to stand in line and sit on his lap, which he did extremely willingly.

From walking through the mall a couple times I knew that they had a really realistic looking Santa so after Kory got off work one evening we went over to see him. They were super stingy about where we could take pictures so they aren't the best. Boston did great with this Santa. He ran right up to him and told him he was two and talked to him about some car. It was super cute.

The first Saturday in November our nephew Adin was getting baptized in Manti and since most the family would be there we decided to do the Marchant Christmas party too. To try and break up the drive a little bit we stopped at Temple square. Boston LOVED it. He was soooo fascinated by the lights and people. It was a great start to a wonderful weekend!!!

Next post: update on our house! WooWoo!!!

Scariest Moment of my life!

Back at the end of November Kory had a 4 day business trip to Boise. I had known about it for a couple months and was soooo dreading it! I live for when he gets home at the end of every day!

The second day he was gone Boston woke up a couple hours early to excitedly show me a pile of vomit on his bed that he was so proud to tell me came from his mouth. I cleaned it all up and observed him closely. He acted completely normal! He was running, playing, picking on Ferb-totally normal! I decided it was a fluke. After his nap he was groggy again and just wanted to sit on the couch and watch Curious George. That was fine. I figured he had a stomach bug and pantomimed for him how to throw up in a bowl if he needed to.

I sat on the floor in front of the couch to let Bridger practice his sitting skills. All of a sudden I hear gagging behind me. I turned around to see what was going on and there was my little 2 year old in full seizure mode! He was gagging on his spit so I quickly rolled him over and held him while his little body shook all over and his eyes rolled around and around. It felt like 5 minutes! (The paramedics assured me it was probably 30 seconds at most). When he was done he just went limp and closed his eyes. I quickly checked to see if  he was breathing and then panicked! I had no idea what to do. I knew I didn't want an ambulance to come because they are so expensive. I didn't think I could get them both in the car and over to the hospital and into the ER. I didn't even think about having someone come get Bridger. My mind wasn't working. Finally I called 911. All I remember is I had to repeat our stupid address like 4 times for her and she wanted me to lock the dog up. Then we waited. It took them FOREVER!! By this time I was doubting what I had done. I called Kory in a panic and he immediately started for home. The paramedics got there and his temperature was at 104.2. They convinced me we needed to go to the ER and we were off. The ER gave him doses of Ibuprofen and Tylenol and made us wait it out.

Boston was so unaware of who anyone was. He was so disoriented and kept feeling like he was falling. He was terrified. Luckily Kory had called his parents and they came to take Bridger and Kory's dad gave Boston a blessing. Apparently he had a seizure that happens when a child under the age of 6 has a fever that spikes super fast, super high. It is common and kids are given one freebie seizure before they begin to worry.

By the time Kory arrived Boston was drugged and sooooo happy. He was playing games on the iPad and watching TV. They wanted to get a urine sample before we left so we were there for almost 5 hours from the time I arrived with the kids to the time we were discharged.
Pre-seizure, when I thought he just had a stomach bug.
In the ambulance.

Post meds. No longer scared.

Seriously worst day of my life! Thank heavens for the priesthood, supportive family, modern medicine, insurance, and the fact that our deductible was already hit. Ha Ha.

Bridgers Court Date

Sorry these posts are backwards! We had to go to court to make Bridger legally ours before we could take him through the temple. Idaho has this awesome law that only requires one post placement visit and then you can finalize! We were able to finalize Bridgers adoption when he was 2 1/2 months old whereas Bostons we had to wait till he was with us 6 months. I soooo prefer Idaho's laws. We got to the court house a little early and were not told where to go so we started wandering. We ended up on the top floor in a hall of people in orange jumpsuits and all handcuffed. There was a few cops scattered throughout. Boston, the boy with no fear, just walked right over to them. They all thought he was the cutest little guy in his suit and said he looked just like a lawyer. Ha. We got out of there really fast!!! We finally found our court room and made it inside. Very similarly to Boston's we had to sit at some microphones and answer lots of questions about our abilities to raise Bridger, our marriage, and our responsibilities. At one point the judge said "You do realize from this day forward he will be your responsibility, that means even when he drives through your neighbors window you still are his parents and must take responsibility."  We laughed and said of course but Kory's dad looked mighty worried, seeing as how we are soon to be his neighbors! Bwa ha ha ha ha. The judge gave Bridger an adorable teddy bear after and after seeing that it might make Boston jealous found him a miniature stuffed orange bear. Boston was thrilled. We were lucky enough to get another awesome judge who was willing to take some pictures afterwards! (We have heard there are those that don't!)
It was such a relief to have him be ours legally and not have to report all kinds of little things to the adoption agency anymore. It was such a great day and we are so lucky to have Bridger be ours!!!
