time management?

What is that? Here I have been out of work for 6 weeks with Morgan and I have yet to catch up on my blog. I guess I will put that on my list for the next 2 weeks before I head back to work :)

I need to update some pictures and tell you about the new addition to our family!!

Then again - I don't update much because I am not even sure people read this :/

Oh well - look for updates soon.

Well that took long enough...

I just realized it's been almost a month since I said "I'll get something up soon!"
I guess with all that is going on that is easier said than done.

We are now at 35 weeks with the pregnancy - and all is going great. We are scheduled for a c-section on April 8th. I picked this day for many reasons - the first is that it is a Friday :)
Also - it would have been my grandmother's birthday. I find it special because Kaylee has her middle name and Morgan may have her birthday!

Kaylee is doing really well too!! She is excited about Morgan and in the process was able to get a 'new' room with decorations that she likes! We moved her to what was our guest room and she is being such a big girl about it!

This is a big year for her too!

This is a list of firsts for her this year:
Teeth Cleaning
Hair Cut (by a professional!)
She will have her first eye exam at the end of the month.
First dance recital in June.
and she starts Pre-K in the fall!

I am sure there are more - but this is a lot for my girl :) Okay - well for me!
I am so excited for her about it too.

Other than getting ready for Morgan - not a lot has happened. I hope it stays that way for a few more weeks!!

It's been a while...

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted. I keep meaning to do it - but then something else comes up!

So now to update on the last 2 months.

In November
  • I went to a conference for work
  • Thomas took me to Atlanta to celebrate my birthday
  • We celebrated my actual birthday
  • We celebrated Thanksgiving
  • I made it through weeks 17 - 21 of my pregnancy!

Whew!

Now we are at the end of December and here is a recap:

  • I finished up work for the year on December 10th
  • We had an ultrasound on the 13th!
  • Kaylee had a party for school and her program on December 16th
  • We went shopping with my Mom on the 17th
  • T and I went to the PD Christmas Party that night
  • We visited with my Dad's family on December 18th
  • I cut my hair (like 14 inches!) on the 22nd
  • That same day we went to visit Thomas' family in Washington, GA
  • Santa came on Christmas Eve
  • On Christmas Day we had to WAKE Kaylee up to see what Santa brought for her!
  • Later that day we went to T's mom's house to celebrate over there.
  • On the 26th - we woke up to SNOW!!!
  • Then we drove to my Mom's house and celebrated with my family.
  • That night we went to my Aunt & Uncle's house to celebrate with extended family.
  • Tomorrow I will be 25 weeks pregnant!

We kept the gender of the new baby a secret until Christmas! This is when we told our Mom's and told them as part of their Christmas presents. Kaylee's prediction was right and Thomas is getting his wish of having all girls!

We are very excited but I am getting a little overwhelmed at how quickly this pregnancy is going by! There is so much to do!!

We are also excited for our friends Brit and Kirk who welcomed their little girl Amelia Jane on December 20th!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year! We can't wait to see what 2011 brings for us and all of our friends!

Turkey Cookies

Ummm what??? Yes - that's right - Turkey Cookies!

Kaylee's class doesn't have a Thanksgiving part b/c they are out of school so their party at Halloween is a Harvest Party. They dress like scarecrows instead of regular costumes and it is so cute!

Well I was trying to find something fallish to take. I signed up for cookies because I LOVE to bake. Well - I remembered for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago - I made Turkey Cookies for a party at work.

I started with this....

Bake cookies according to package directions - and let cool.

Across the top of the cookie put one line of chocolate frosting. This was the first time I used the Easy Frost and it's AMAZING!

Lay a row of candy corn in the icing - this is the tail.

Next make the eyes - you can do this two ways. You can ither use mini-baking candies (like M&M's) or use writing icing. I used the icing. I found Halloween icing with Black, Purple, Green and Orage. Put two dots with any color BUT orange.

Next use the orange (or yellow) to make the beaks and feet.

This is what we ended up with:

Kaylee was able to help by putting the candy corn on and she had a lot of fun!

Happy Baking!

YAY for the second Trimester!

So today marks 13 weeks! Yippee!

I am excited to be entering the 2nd trimester. I am starting to feel so much better all around. I still have days that I feel so icky - but those are becoming less.

Kaylee still doesn't understand that a baby will be coming to STAY with us - like FOREVER. She associates the baby with her cousin Madalyn - who we see for a few days. But she doesn't live with us.

We have had two ultrasounds - the first was at 10 weeks. We saw the gummy bear and all was good. We had our second on Monday. It was actually the NT Scan which measures certain areas and checks for birth defects such as Downs Syndrome. They do a finger stick and put lots of blood on this card that they send to the lab. It also checks for birth defects. We will have the AFP4 done in a few weeks.

Many people DON'T have the antenatal testing done - but I had it done with Kaylee and decided to have it done with this little one. A lot of tests come back with "false positives". See if these markers come back "positive" then they may do more testing. Sometimes those come back positive and it turns out nothing is wrong. However - sometimes these tests are right.
The tests that we had done on Monday - are more accurate than the ones done a little later.

So WHY? Well - even if we get a "false positive" - at least we will have had time to prepare in the event something IS wrong. I am faithful in God and I know that all will come out the way he wants it too - but this just makes me feel better. Besides - I got to see my little one again, and it is such an amazing feeling to see that little being! (Pregnancy is SO amazing to me!)

But anyway - I have another regular appointment at 14 weeks. I hope to be able to schedule my next ultrasound for November - maybe on my birthday :) I will be 19w6d!

We will see!!!

10 weeks!

Wednesday marks 10 weeks into this pregnancy.
The first couple of weeks after we found out were good and then I felt HORRIBLE!

I had all day sickness for a week and then got a sinus thing and that made it even worse for a week. I still have times that I feel sick - but it is getting better.
My big thing right now... headaches! I get a headache EVERYDAY!

The next couple of weeks are going to be tough b/c it has been a year since my family's lives were turned upside down. Tomorrow marks a year since we found out my Dad had cancer. The 18th marks a year of finding out my Dad was dying. The 25th marks a year since my Dad died.

The nice thing about this week is that on Wednesday I have a checkup and we have our first ultrasound. I can't wait to see our little gummy bear. (That's what Kaylee looked like on her first ultrasound).

My mom, brother, his girlfriend and their precious little girl are coming up on the 23rd. We are all (yes - all 7 of us) are leaving on Friday for a get-away weekend. Mom wants to get away from home and I want to be with her - so we are going to spend the weekend in Blue Ridge. I think it will be a much needed couple of days for all of us.

It hit me hard last night - but thankfully my wonderful husband was home and could hold me while I cried.

I have so many thoughts and people and prayers on my mind right now. Thankfully the Lord knows all of my thoughts.

I am thankful for our MOPS verse this year as well - "Even there my hand will guide you, my right hand will hold you fast." Psalm 139:10
