A Seashore Christmas

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I'd like to share with you a couple of projects combining Timeless Twine and Sweet Stamp Shop, in a non-traditional Christmas theme.

Sweet Stamp Shop has some really cute stamp sets and we are pairing them with some yummy Timeless Twine!

Living in southern California, we are close to the beaches so I thought I'd make a Seashore themed ornament and gift card holder.  The gift card holder could also be used for a Birthday or as a Thank You gift too.

Supplies for Gift Card holder:
Gift Card is cut out using a die from My Creative Time.
Silver Recollections cardstock
Sweet Stamp Shop "Dream Ocean" and "Sweet Tooth" sets
(the sentiment is from "Sweet Tooth")
button

Supplies for Ornament:
glass craft ornament
Pledge floor wax
ultra fine glitter
Sweet Stamp Shop "Dream Ocean" stamps
embossing ink and silver embossing powder
white tulle

How I made the ornament:
I've seen these ornaments around the crafting world for the past few years and love making them!  I usually add vinyl, puffy paint, or stickers to the outside, but this year I eas curious if you could heat emboss on the glass.

You can search for glitter glass ornaments and find lots of easy tutorials, but you simply remove the silver ornament hanger, pour a little bit of floor wax inside and swirl around to coat evenly.  Set ornament upside down to let excess wax drain out.  Pour in some glitter, cover hole with napkin, and shake to coat entire inside surface.  Shake out the excess glitter and save for the next ornament.  Be sue to let dry completely before carefully adding the hanger piece so that you don't scratch off the glitter inside the neck.

For the embossing part, I put the stamp on my fingers because I found that it was easier to stamp a non-flat surface that way.  You heat emboss just like you would on paper, but I found that it takes a little bit longer to heat the glass than it would for paper.

A very helpful tip that I found is to clean and dry the outside very well, and then rub gently with a used dryer sheet (softener sheet).  This will help with the static if it's dry in your area.  You only want the embossing powder to stick to the image.  If you don't get a clean stamped/powdered area, then just wipe it clean and start over.  But this only works before you heat emboss :)

Also, be careful when holding the ornament that you don't burn your fingers when the glass gets hot.

Be sure to stop by the Timeless Twine blog and the Sweet Stamp Shop blog to see what both design teams have created.

Twine Snowflake Bow

Hi Crafty Friends!
Today is my day to share over at the Timeless Twine blog, and I made a cute little package topper.
I crocheted the snowflake using red craft floss for the center and Timeless Twine Firecracker for the outside, and to wrap the box.
I've been crocheting quite a bit this year (mostly hats) and I love that I can mix my hobbies :)

The button and sentiment are from the Paper Made Bakery November kit that we featured last week.
The kraft box can be found in the BellaCreationz shop, here.
The crocheted snowflake is a pattern by Everlaughter.

SBS 3rd Day of Halloween

I'm back with a quick post for the SBS 3rd Day of Halloween challenge.

The challenge for Day 3 is to use gauze and 'wrap up' your project.

I was brainstorming with my oldest daughter about what to make and this is what she came up with.  She helped me make the "Mummies" and I made the tag.

The "Mummy" is a gauze wrapped lollipop with wiggle eyes, and inked.

My printer ran out of ink and I only have a few SBS stamps, so I am a bit limited in my choice of images right now.  Looks like I'll be buying some ink after work tomorrow :)

I stamped "Miss Betty Burton" colored in grey tones using Copics.  This was my first try at this and I kinda like it.  I added some Stickles to her hair clips for a bit of sparkle.

I used Spellbinders to cut out the circle and scallop circle, and tied it to the lollipop using Timeless Twine.

We're only on day 3 and I'm already feeling overwhlemed! I think I just need to have some meals planned out a pre-prepared to make for more play time during the week :)

Unitl Day 4...

SBS 2nd Day of Halloween

Welcome back to the 2nd Day of Halloween challenges hosted by Simply Betty Stamps!

Day 2 challenge is the create something "Witchy" that is not a card.

Here is my project:

I created a 4x6 picture frame.  I printed out Witchy Betty and colored her with Copic markers.  The background is stamped using the PbD "Clouds" background stamp, using "London Fog" Memento ink.  I used foam squares to shdere Betty to the background.  I don't have a bat punch (what?  really?) so I used the MS butterfly punch and punched out a bunch of butterflies using various Halloween papers.  Then I used foam squares to adhere them to the frame.

Betty will be hanging on my wall as part of our Halloween decor this year!

Until Day 3...
