Blue Monday

Greetings on Memorial Day!  Hope everyone is having a good day out there.
I made this card last year for my dad,  Senior Chief Petty Officer, Kenneth O. Cook, USN Retired.
We (family of six) got to live and travel all over the US because of his enlistment.   We had opportunities to see so many wonderful parts of this country and we all have some great memories of those years.
Thanks Dad and to all those who served.  That includes my son, Sgt.Ryan L. Marshall, USMC and several uncles and cousins.
P.S. That's Navy blue on the card  HA!  Happy Blue Monday!

Gingersnap Creations challange Burgundy, Ivory and Black

The lady's image is from a postcard postmarked 1911.  The text is from Etiquette by Emily Post.  The feather really is burgundy but looks black in the photo.  Thanks for the inspiration!  Great color combo to work with!

Congrats to the Grads

I've made the traditional, feel good, cute, inspiring grad cards.  Here are a couple of more realistic sentiments.
As a parent... well, proud doesn't begin to describe our feelings.  Yet, if... well, of course we all want what is best for our children, right?
The "fire juggler guy" is a free image from Denzinaworld (see link icon on side bar).  Thanks, June for the inspiration!

Gingersnap Creations challange Quotes

A wonderful vintage photo of Marlene Dietrich, that I hand colored.  Great for the girlfriend's birthday.  Or other female friend that "can take it".  The quote is by Anita Brookner from her novel  Hotel du Lac.  Marvelous author!

What's on your desk Wednesday!

This is my desk top the way I found it this morning.  Who made all this mess!?  Looks like I need to clean out the scrap trough.
So, I'm still working on my 30 card personal challenge.  Only up to 20.  The second pic shows some graduation cards commissioned by  a friend.
I'm going to allow myself a WOYWW tour before I get back to work.
Have a lovely Wednesday!

Blue Monday

A great picture of my dad when he was just 19 and a sailor in the USN stationed in Hawaii.  I wasn't even a twinkle in his eye yet!  He married my mother three years later and I was born two years after that.  So a picture captured in time.  A neat idea for upcoming father's day.

Drunken Stampers Challenge: Use Your Scraps

http://drunkenstampers.wordpress.com/2010/05/15/drunken-stampers-challenge-16-use-your-scraps/
This week I needed to make some cards for baby congrats that were not boy or girl themed.  The parents don't know the sex of the baby!  (remember those days!?)  I have had these embossed papers about six years and the congrats sticker about that long also.  The ribbon was in my scrap drawer and so wrinkled, I actually got out the iron.  I haven't ironed anything in over a year!  But, it was the perfect color so, there ya go.  I made several cards this week using things and scraps that I have had for a long time.  Must be something in the air?

Gingersnap Creations challange Pencils

I used plain colored pencils on this black and white print.  Came up with the caption to fit a graduate card.  Still chuckle when I see this one!  Enjoy!

8 and counting

All the while listening to Dick Dale surfer music on Pandora radio!  Just gotta dance!!!!  Did I mention that the 30 cards deadline is this time next week?  It's my own little challenge and deadline.  The stores I supply are very low on stock so, the more I make, um, the more I make...?  Dig?  Now it didn't take all day to make just a measly 8 cards.  Oh no, there were 3 loads of laundry, sweeping the whole house and patio, making dinner, washing dishes, washing my hair. etc... but, hey!  The night is still young and ole Dick is still wailing on that guitar!   (too bad I have to work in the morning!)
Later Chickies,

What's on your desk Wednesday!

My desk looks pretty clean this morning.  Where did all that junk go, you ask?
To the dining room table of course!  Separated into projects with all their matching elements.  I have approx. 30 cards to crank out this week.  Better get started!!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!!

What's on your desk Wednesday!

This is WUYWW (What's Under Your Workdesk Wednesday)  Allie.  "Mom, please come play frisbee with me"!  Can you see that smile?  She's very persuasive (persistent).  She will sit there as long as it takes to get me to give in.
This is what is on top of the desk this morning.  A scrapbook page for hubby's grandmother.  Obviously going to be late for Mother's Day.  Those are original photos.  The ones I will use have been scanned into the computer to be cropped and printed.  Just using these to judge layout.
View of my neat and tidy computer desk.  Then rotate 180 degrees and see...
Utter chaos.  Oh well.  Such is the life.  Now I'm off to work for the day and will be round to check your sites when I get home.  Have a great WOYWW!!

Gingersnap Creations challange Read

Her image is from a cabinet card.  I thought she looked like a teacher and decided to put her in a situation that you wouldn't expect to see her in.  The text is from a thesaurus for the word "appearance".
