Ormolu

Today I received and email from a company called Ormolu telling me that they were going to post a photo of my project life cover page on their blog today. You can see the post here.
I guess they saw my project in the Two Peas gallery
and wanted to share how I used some of their great products.

Like the tags...

And "flair buttons"...

They come in great sets...

And they tons of other fun products.
I could do a whole project life book just with their goodies.
And since I am 8 weeks behind on my PL
I could certainly have time to add some of their products.
In fact, I may have to spend a little time and money today
on the Ormolu website and do some shopping:)

Life is a Project

I think I said earlier that I am embarking on a challenge this year to join in on Project Life. For those of you who are not scrapbookers, Project Life is a creative project where you put together an album by taking photos and adding journaling to document an entire year. There are many variations of it. Some people choose to take a photo a day, some make it about a certain theme. My book is just random ramblings about what goes on in and around the McElvain family. And sometimes that is a project in itself.

A week ago I had a great addition to my project. Thanks to a nice man who was not very attentive, I had a crash to my van:( Couldn't have happened on a nicer day in January, the temp was 50 degrees, the other driver was honest and kind, no one was hurt, and his insurance company has been cooperative and paying 100%; so all is well, except my van of coarse.

But moving forward after the accident is a project in itself. So as I spent the day last Wednesday talking to insurance, police, and rental companies.... I completed the opening page of my Project Life book.

Earlier in the month I had taken photos of our new front door. Some inside, some outside, some with it open, then shut. Probably spent way too much time on that photo shoot. But I did get a picture I liked...
I cropped to an 8x12. Not every photo center will print that size
so I sent it off to Arts Cameras.

I cut the photo to fit into my page protector slots. I had cropped the photo specifically so that Myrtle would fit perfectly in the 4x6 pocket on the bottom. I wanted the opening page to hint to the theme of the book, documenting what goes on inside our home and outside our home with our busy, run around lives.
Added some of the embellishments, cards, and letters from my stash, which should be easy, but that took way too long also.
I attached some of the pieces directly to the paper inserts, but added some to the outside of the photo sleeves. And the first page is complete.

I'll have you know we are through week five of 2012 so I am already a bit behind, but that is to be expected. I am going to work on it a bit today and hopefully will have more to share soon.

More Inspiration Baby

Today on the Bella Blog the Inspiration is all about Unity Stamps. And here is my creation. I used an ultrasound stamp to make a half circle on this expecting card.
And we got to love those Bella Stickers. Always a perfect one to add to anything!

Kisses

Another day of inspiration on the Bella Blvd blog including a layout from me using bunches and bunches of the new Bella Accents...

To create this layout I dove back into my non digital photos to pull out this favorite of mine. It's of a one year old Delaney leaning in to kiss her good friend Aaron. I love the scared look on his face.
And I love all the goodies I got to use to create the layout...the wood buttons, the designer tape, the crochet flowers. All so much fun!!!
Thanks again for looking

Crazy Dress Day

It's Catholic Schools Week. And the thing I dread the most each year about this week is "Crazy Dress Day".

The day that the kids dig thru boxes and closets we usually avoid in order to layer a perfectly crazy outfit to wear to school.

And I have to say for Mom not being incredibly helpful and not enjoying the process, the kids have been very successful, many years winning the vote of their peers as the best dressed.

And of coarse photos are taken at home before my crazy kids head out to school. And this year would mark my favorite because of this photo of Kelly and Emma.

I guess capturing a moment like this makes the crazy day all worth while after all.

Bella Inspiration...Sunshine and Happiness

This week over at Bella Blvd there is loads of inspiration with loads of yummy new products.
Yesterday one of my layouts was featured...
Kelly made these watermelon, strawberry smoothies all the time last summer. Glad I took some pics. It was perfect for the new Sunshine and Happiness line.
The first time she made the smoothie on her own, she twisted the blender from the bottom and the whole double batch that she had made poured out onto the counter and floor. No photos of that, I think we were too busy mopping up the mess, but a little lesson learned about blender operation for my 11 year old.
Thanks for looking.
